The experts were right on him pre-season. The guy is a super one and done talent. Plus, this will be our first conference road game so it presents a challenge. Remember all the UL posts about the Refs? Expect to see the same behavior here if we lose.
Overall, it is a very difficult game to predict. This will be a sold out away game with a lot of fan emotion for LSU. If they put the ball in Simmons hands to bring up court don't expect the turn-overs that we had against Ole Miss. But, it could work to our favor as having him away from the paint is good for us whether he is hitting his shots or not. We grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds against Ole Miss and if we can accomplish the same it will be a win. Otherwise, it could be a nail biter or worse.
I am glad it is an early game because if we lose it still will help identify the additional changes that need to occur. So, we can correct them for other away games that we should win.
Well, what are the ten ways?
Slip out the back, Jack.
Make a new plan, Stan,
No need to be coy, Roy
It was a close game there last season...and that was with Cal's best team.Simmons is irrelevant. UK has the better coach and better players...if UK comes to play for 40mins, they win. If not? Eh, we'll see.
Simmons can beat *his* man (or a double team) 10 different ways, but Johnny Jones can lose a game about 47 different ways.
The greatest thing to fear is that their team, which has as many good-to-very-good players as nearly anybody in the country, just decides to ignore Johnny and all go off, and at the same time, our guys have another awful shooting night. That is the L recipe.
Briscoe and Poy, I'd guess.I read on ksr that Payne said two guys have already asked to guard Simmons. He wouldn't say who though. I like that attitude going into LSU, it's usually a tough place to play.

Skal and Willis?
Not sure if serious?![]()
He's not Wilt or Michael, but then Wilt and Michael weren't yet Wilt and Michael, either, when they were 18. Simmons is good, really good - he's not your typical one and done, first overall pick in the draft. This is the kind of kid that comes along once in a few years (the phrase once a decade came to mind, but we did have AD just a few years ago). He's good but we're not talking about Wilt or Michael here. Sheesh.
