Brown update

Indeed. UNC is an illogical yet real possibility.

With the scandal, the possibility of sanctions, as well as Justin Jackson already being the UNC small forward, I don't see why really. UNC hardly looks like the best choice in terms of academics, because they've been cheating students, and student-athletes alike, out of their education for at least 20 years. In terms of basketball, Brown has made it abundantly clear that UK is indefinitely the best, and most professional basketball program in the country, in coaching, performance, facilities, fans, etc.

True but he's probably only there for 1 year and they return most of their roster.

I haven't seen one legit scout or insider say UK leads for Brown. Not Jerry Meyer, not Eric Bossi, nobody. So until that time, im not getting my hopes up. Would be lovely though!!
Bossi posted an update today on the premium national board. Would be interesting to know what is says.

;)

I have never felt like an emotional yoyo when it comes to recruiting, like this year.
I wish it ends soon before I throw my hands up and say FI.
Sorry for the profanity;)

Still expecting him to go to Michigan, but I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised for once this class.

Someone who texted from the Atlanta area code is nothing to get excited about. You can make any number you want show up, plenty of services to do that.

True, but not on iMessage.

But, I agree...a random text from someone in ATL means nothing.

True, but they also lost like, what, 11 games? And I understand that UK did two seasons ago, and went to the title game both 2 years ago, and last year, but UNC isn't even close to bringing in a recruiting class like UK did last year, they lose their best defender and best athlete, and they don't have a true facilitator on that team. Paige is a terrific scorer when he's on, but he'll never be a great point guard. He just doesn't have the playmaking ability to do that.
Meanwhile, UK has a terrific facilitator, a ton of open minutes at the SF position, and is as prepped as any team in the country to make a run for the title.
And while Brown may be there for only one year, he may not. The best possible situation he could walk into is at Kentucky.

I don't see any updates today, but he started a thread yesterday saying he was hearing that the plan was for Brown to drop one team every couple of days and then set up an announcement date from there.

Today he said he's also getting info that suggests it'll be UK or Michigan. That's it.
You're not supposed to share that stuff

Did Matt not ask this random number who it was? Have to think Matt found out who it was and it was a legit source, otherwise he wouldn't talk about it on air.

Also have to feel like the Michigan insider is confident that it's somebody close to the Brown recruitment, otherwise he wouldn't have said that he's not confident that UM gets Brown now, and he wouldn't confirm the same text.

I'm originally from the Upper Peninsula (I'm sure your mother can tell you about it), went to Ferris St. in Big Rapids, but work in Wisconsin at the moment.
Hail, My wife and I got married in the upper peninsula of Michigan over 44 yrs ago. Spent our wedding night at the Ojibway Hotel overlooking the Soo Locks. Pretty country to visit but hard to live there.

One of the weirdest recruitments I've seen in awhile. Just doesn't give any info away.

I feel good we have NO sf , 30+ minutes available, plus We have Cal, plus we are KENTUCKY THE GREAT! Boom!

I guess we all know Brown could be the difference in being a contender next year or just being a very good team. UK needs one more elite level player, in my opinion, to make another run at number 9.

Brown is the difference between UK being a contender or being a pre-season favorite. UK is already viewed as a contender vs what will exist in college basketball for 2016.

We'll be Top 10, but we're going to need another scorer on the wing in order to really go all the way in March/April.

Had the best defense in the world this year, didn't mean jacksquat in the Final Four against a powerhouse offense, you gotta be able to score the ball. We have two awesome playmakers for next season, we just need one more play finisher.

Unless the rules have changed since August, coaches aren't allowed to follow PSAs before they sign, so these Michigan coaches never should have been following him in the first place.

UK is missing depth and a wing scorer. Brown would fill both of those needs. Without him were one player shy. FWIW, we were preseason number 1 going into the 2012-2013 season and we all know how that turned out.

So what will it be? Said the guy to his girlfriend. Will you marry me or not? Not that I have another one waiting for me, but I can't take the suspense anymore.

As in 2014-15....and we all know how that turned out.

First, we're deeper than we were in 2012. Second, we have enough depth in comparison to what other programs usually deal with.

Lastly, the failures of 2013 had less to do with depth and more to do with personalities and short-comings of certain players stepping up as leaders. We could add Brown and Murray and still have a disastrous season because of poor chemistry.

No, we was ranked 3rd.

I've never heard of this rule before in my life and I consider myself somewhat of a recruiting snob. You may be right, but it's news to me.
It was a rule in the past. Not sure if it is as of today though. Before mid-2013 coaches basically couldn't do anything on social media when it comes to recruiting.

Pretty sure it's not a real rule. I see coaches following recruits on twitter all the time, especially in football. Maybe I'm wrong.

So I guess what you're saying is that their is no need for any additional players and this team is set to win 30 plus games this season. Thanks for the 411. We were all worrying about those recruits for nothing.

Crystal Ball now 60-34. A little movement in our direction.

Does it even matter? UK was the perceived leader for Newman, Zimmerman, and even Caleb Swanigan and Blakeney at one point.

I hold the crystal ball with less importance than I do the collective opinions of this message board. In fact, if you give me your opinion on Brown's pick I'll immediately take it into more consideration than the crystal ball.

UK was preseason #3 in 12-13. Yes, UK completely failed to live up to that, but 3 is not 1.

So now Jones is using anonymous texts from people to propagate this Brown to UK "buzz"?

Yep, KSR fishing for hits and listeners.
