Brown update

Thanks for the info. I know nothing about this Webb guy but I'll believe you. Where has he said that he's no longer feeling good? Did he put that on twitter or some place that is available to the public?

He works for Scout, so it was on the Scout premium board. I'm passing it along from a different Michigan forum.

... He had the #1 and #3 pick in last years draft.

Anyways, hope you're right Hail and he comes here. Glad to see you on here as well.
Wiggins was going #1 regardless and he did not improve during his time with Self.

and I'm sure the "well KU had the #1 and #3 back in 2014 draft" will become a catch phrase for them for the next 20 years.

Good point on last years draft regarding Self. I look at that kind of like I look at UK's 2013 season an out of place blip in an otherwise consistent path.

My source confirmed this somewhat. It seems that Jaylen's spring plan was to wait out as many of the remaining top prospects as he could. Brown did not expect all those guys to spurn KY. Earlier this week Michigan attempted to pull a power move on the Brown camp and have been trying to coerce him into a commitment all week. I'm told things got pretty nasty when Brown refused. My source doesn't have any information where KY stands but it seems that the relationship has soured recently between Brown and Michigan. Still wouldn't count 'em put though.

Actually a Michigan recruiting article said that an uncle who lives in the Michigan area called the coaching staff telling them that Brown had family in the area and would be interested in talking with them if they had interest. The staff said they had no inkling that Brown had relatives in the area. But the mother was a former MSU student, so I guess she doesn't hate Michigan.

someone ordered a bowl of boner soup? Boner soup? Anyone? There's an extra bowl of boner soup...

And UK had the number 1 and the number 2 in the draft before that. It seems KU is second when it comes to UK in about everything....jmo (Well, more than opinion, I do have a few facts.) :)

1. Yesterday, Bacari Alexander (Michigan assistant) sends a tweet congratulating the Big Ten on a good recruiting season.
2. This morning, Matt Jones states he received a text message from an ATL number saying UK leads for Brown.
3. Sam Webb (Michigan's #1 recruiting insider) confirms the text was legit and says he does not feel confident about Brown anymore.
4. Bacari Alexander deletes the tweet from yesterday and is no longer following Jaylen Brown.

Read into that how you want, but I'm about ready to congratulate you guys.
And this is the guy people kept telling to leave and go back to the Michigan board.

Thanks for the update, man. You're welcome here anytime.

Yeah, but BBUK, Since Cal has been here he has been pretty consistent with getting his elite players drafted high compared to Self's elites

I assumed Williams cuthing Michigan was really good news for Michigan with Brown. However, I've learned since Williams is going to choose Virginia...per UNC source. So, it really may have zip to do with Brown

Hmm - well a major falling out would mesh with why Bacari would no longer be following him, particularly when recruits committed elsewhere like Zimmerman, Thornton, Kennard, etc. remain. He made it a point to delete JB.

He's now following Jamal Murray.

Dude...thanks for taking the time to post...we all know you didn't have to let us know...SO THANKS!!!!!

Not sure if the info is legit or not, but nobody here has been able to dig into Brown's recruitment like that. I appreciate the post, Hail, as I have on the national boards as well. At the very least, you've given me something to be encouraged about.

Hail ... I have a cousin to whom I'm very close who has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Michigan. I'm going to tell her that you have represented the Maize & Blue very honorably on our board.

Good look ... with respect to everything except your recruiting of Jaylen Brown. ;)

Welp, I'll be driving right past Jaylen Brown's high school this afternoon - I guess I could just run in and ask him :D

Prolly get arrested though:(

Just because Michigan posses him off doesn't mean he'd cut them. We all get pissy with people or situations and just need a minute to cool off. Doesn't mean were done with that person or whatever. Kansas was an easy cut due to roster make up. Because of academics family etc I can see how Michigan would not be cut but dropped back in overall warm feelings. Michigan would still be in his eyes a better choice so he's eliminating the farthest logical ones first. But that very well could be the straw that broke the camels back to being not eliminated and the last eliminated. I'll take the story as true until otherwise as I see no reason to lie about it. thanks for the info sir.

Hail, what part of Michigan are you from? My mother was born in Garden City outside of Detroit and her brother is Nolan Finley. He is an editor of the Detroit News

I'll take it.

I'm originally from the Upper Peninsula (I'm sure your mother can tell you about it), went to Ferris St. in Big Rapids, but work in Wisconsin at the moment.

Would be so fitting of this recruitment (and this recruiting season for UK) if it was announced right now the next school eliminated from Brown's list was Kentucky. Hell, at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick UNC and simply say that it was his dream school growing up (which it was apparently) so that is where he was leaning all along.

  • Alex Bozich has changed his crystal ball prediction 3 times since yesterday. From Ky yesterday morning to Michigan last night and now back to Ky this morning.

Well, CatPhight ... since I'm not on Twitter and can't check for myself, and because this recruiting season has been so screwy, would you please just go ahead and state the obvious for us and tell us which coach Jaylen Brown is following on Twitter? Please.

No kidding. One of my best friends from my time at UK was from Big Rapids and when to Ferris St prior to transferring to UK.

Huge UM fan and had the misfortune of being the target of the entire fraternity any time something bad happened to the Wolverines. Also was at the 1993 Final Four with us and was truly conflicted.

With the Chrome Extension (soon to be available on Firefox as well), you don't have to refresh...new posts in a thread update automatically. It is the tits.

I will take this development with guarded optimism and hope it is going to happen.
I too will wait to hear from his mouth, with my arthritic and very painful fingers crossed.

BTW, thank you for the information. No matter where he ends up going, I wish Michigan good luck. They deserve to have a better season.
