Boley

Has OH ST not offered Montgomery?
They have but they can get whoever they want or close to it. His brother is a freshman at OSU but they're looking for the best place where Ryan will get to play and develop. Say OSU signs the #1 qb in '24 do you want to go and sit behind him. Who knows which '25 qb OSU will zero in on. There are a lot of factors.

I know some kids reclassify, not sure why, but is this kid trying to be in the 24 class?
He was originally a 24. Then dropped back to 25 when ky athletic association granted a Covid drop back a couple of years ago….which frankly there was no reason for except a graduating senior that lost the spring sports. Anyway some kids used it to ‘become older’ for their grade. So he dropped back but according to the article he’s considering moving back? I dunno.

You would think someone local would step up with NIL dollars to keep him home if that's the case. But it sounds more like a case of him being a prima donna which might be more of the reason we aren't heavy on him at the moment.
If Big Dog , Coen and Stoops think he's the man l don't think money will be an issue. If his parents are "huge" UK fans why wouldn't you think your son could get UK over the hump to play for a conference championship?

They had the number 1 QB committed and the family felt like they were lied to by OSU and decommitted.

Just a guess but from some things said in this thread it seems like he may have been held back somewhere alone the way.
Think it has to do with the Covid year. IIRC, all players were granted an extra year...take it or leave it. He has the chance to invoke that now I believe.

That's actually pretty cool, probably will take some serious time management skills with the visits, practices and classes. Could be the reason for the transfer too, private school would have a little more flexibility with his classes.

He is one high school QB that could come in here and be a star IMO, even if it is the SEC. Just know that was his team growing up. But as you said, he is thinking down the road, which to me shows he is a mature kid with good guidance.

He was in Knoxville Tuesday. Said Stoops was trying to negative recruit Tennessees offense but said that he loved what he saw at practice. Was impressed with tempo and concepts.

Hardly negative, factual with Chumlee's gimmick offense. Hope Boley doesn't have to learn the hard way.

Hope he was able to shower before returning home.

Who knows but the supposed 8 million dollar qb has a little brother named madden that is becoming a big time qb prospect foe the 25 class. Ferrell thinks he will commit to UT

L O L going to spread bullspit rumors from Knoxville huh

How about Dennis Dodd reporting on the ground evaluation is Knoxville morons FAR overpayed for Niko, that he is YEARS away from possibly being an actual college quarterback.....much less performing to be worth $2M/yr

Weird that he’s the only one making that claim. Mizzou grad upset that his team hasn’t had a quality offense since Heupel left.

Did he say it was exactly the same offense he ran in middlecschool?
It’s probably not far from his high school offense. His high school offense is gimmicky so it may be comfortable for him. There aren’t many in 2A KY football but anybody they play with solid blocking and tackling they can’t deal with.

Think he will want to wait his turn behind Iamagonnaleava? (or whatever the hell his name is)

Either he’s better than him and doesn’t wait behind him or Nico is really good and he waits a year tops, but if he fears competition, give me George MacIntyre instead.

His dad will make sure he goes to a school with the best chance to win a National Championship. Just like he did with his daughter Erin. She went to Notre Dame before transferring to Oregon. Didn't even give UK a sniff, even though the entire family are huge UK fans. Daddy calls the shots on this one, which means he'll end up at UT, Bama, Georgia, or Clemson.
You are 100% correct on this one. I am from Larue and know the family very well. Daddy is running things and the way his family talks about his recruitment i get the feeling kentucky isn't a real player in this recruitment. Just another name on the list.

It’s not 8 mil guaranteed. It’s up to 8 mil and if you’re doing NIL right, it won’t matter. I mean Tim Couch took the Browns for way more than that so the bar is really really low.
LOL. Already running and hiding. NC/Heisman for $8M Man or he's a flop, sure to be run off. Haslams didn't get to be billionaires by hiring people who don't deliver.

I mean political in a sense that it’s a highly ranked in state qb so even if they do have someone or some others higher on their board it’s tricky working through it from a perception standpoint
For understandable reasons, instate prospects matter a lot to instate fans who read about homegrown hs players in the Sunday morning paper and hear about them on local TV sports reports.

Winning SEC games matters to Mark Stoops, because that is how he gets paid.

Stoops is smart. He has said all the right things about instate recruiting, and will continue to do so. However, he knows that a touchdown is worth 6 points whether it is scored by a player from Lexington or by a player from Georgia. In UK's 2023 recruiting class, 4 of the 19 committed scholarships were given to Kentuckians. There are 19 scholarship Kentuckians on UK's projected 2023 roster (out of 85 scholarships allowed), and 5-6 of them are projected to start next fall (out of 22 starting jobs). UK's football team depends primarily on out of state recruiting, as it must. The numbers don't lie.

UK's coaches have already offered scholarships to at least 5 QB prospects in the 2024 class. None of them are Kentuckians. UK's coaches have offered scholarships to at least 8 QB prospects in the 2025 class. One (Boley) is a Kentuckian. Liam Coen will evaluate QB prospects and prioritize those that fit in his offense. He doesn't care where their hs is, as long as they have the skills he needs here.

Because he said so, we know Boley likes Coen better than he liked Scangarello. People can offer theories about what Boley and Coen will decide, but nobody here knows. Even Boley doesn't know yet. So, if Boley doesn't know, then neither can we. The history of this board is filled with Kentuckians who chose to play college ball elsewhere as well as out of state prospects like Josh Allen, Lynn Bowden, Deone Walker, and Barion Brown who have starred at UK. The 2025 class is almost 2 years away from signing. Even if a 2025 player reclassified forward to 2024, that class is still 9 month away from signing. In recruiting, 9 months is a lifetime.

What we know is that a player won't sign with UK without visiting. So if a fan wants to know which prospects are seriously interested in UK, keep an eye on official and unofficial campus visits. Scholarship offers and campus visits are being discussed as they happen on our 2024 and 2025 UK football recruiting threads. These threads are community efforts and are always interesting to follow.

If Boley is the hottest thing going, and makes up his mind for '24 to UK tonight, do you ask for a public commitment, or let him ride the camp and OV circuit as a silent with instructions?

Has Mark Stoops read his Sun Tzu?
