Austin paper formally calls for TX to make Terry permanent coach..

Guy has not been successful as a head coach. Not surprised Texas is reluctant to make a long term commitment.

There’s no chance they hire him. None. I honestly think he could win the Natty and they wouldn’t hire him. Don’t blame them either. There’s literally zero evidence that he should even be an option. This was a very, very good team. He’s done what any decent assistant coach could or would’ve done so far, he hasn’t screwed it up. And hiring a coach on a single tournament experience isn’t a great idea, as history has told us. Texas is a very good job with deep pockets. They could have a ton of coaches with a wealth of previous HC success. Hell, Rodney Terry isn’t even a Jerome Tang or Tommy Lloyd type that has been one of the best assistants for a great run program.

They’ll likely be favored against either Pitt or Xavier to do the elite 8 . If it gets that far , it’s too bad of a look not to keep him . Give him a 3 yr deal ( as opposed to standard 5-6) with low buyouts and make it easy to fire him ….

Xavier is pretty darned good. Texas will be favored, but not sure by much. Texas will have to defend well, against a really good offense, to win that one.
