Attempting to add some substance to the discussion of upcoming transfers

Coach Stoops has already accepted Tayvion Robinson and Tashawn Manning from the transfer portal. With double digit roster spots still open for 2022, it is likely that a handful of other transfers will be accepted before preseason camp opens next August. Here are some possible candidates from the current transfer portal, but this list is bound to get bigger.

All of the following transfer candidates formerly received offers from UK coming out of hs.

Bryce Austin, DL, Purdue
Andy Boykin, DL, AR
Kenneth Dicks III, DB, Wake Forest
Jermaine Hamilton-Jordan, DB, AR
Darrion Henry-Young, DL, OH St
Enzo Jennings, DB, PA St
James Miller, LB, IU
Vincent Miller, OL, SCar
Ian Stewart, WR, MI St
Cameron Williams, LB, IU
Brandon Jennings is another LB UK offered in HS transferring from Maryland. He was a high 4 star out of HS

Have they offered Enzo. I know clink recruited him hard. I think UK finished 2nd to PSU the 1st go around
True that. UK reportedly finished second to PA St. UK did not stop recruiting him after he verballed to PA St either. Our coaches tried to flip him. Stoops wanted him bad as a FS. UK would be one logical, obvious place for him to transfer. MI could be another.

UK is losing both starting safeties and Quandre Mosely to graduation and Moses Douglass to the transfer portal. I don't know what Brad White and Enzo have discussed, but this is such an obvious fit that it would be difficult to imagine a lack of interest from either side.

Calm down.

If you think a guy who backed-up both OTs prior to being injured was kept out of the lineup by a talented frosh OL that the staff planned to RS and a backup who made the field for a few snaps (when DK and Dare went down, Horsey was the backup, while not mentioned as such on the depth chart), then that is your prerogative. But, the four game suspension and then Stoops’ response to a mid-season question about Watkins’ health tells us a great deal. It has nothing to do with whether I like Watkins. 🤦‍♂️

I agree completely. He didn't get a single snap after his suspywas up, and the coaches didn't mention injuries a single time AFAIK.

What's all this fuss about? The thread is about possible inbound transfers. Just stick with that because it is important and interesting. If you are worried about former players, start a different thread about them.

We should see a new way of portal entries as these bowl games are played/canceled. I would imagine that Stoops and co have a few inside tracks to some of them. We really need to add more to our Defensive backfield. Can the young guys at WR sway the coaching staff from getting another Ready Wide Receiver? Imo, I think we need to add another WR

It could be that the staff has seen some things these past few weeks from younger players that changed their perception of need. For example, the talk was that CLew was impressing and showing signs of turning the corner. That could change the perceived need for another portal WR. With the Lewises, Magwood, and possibly Crowdus getting more snaps with Epps and Ali out, there may be flashes that demonstrate less of a transfer need.

A couple of burners in this year’s class too. One or both of those guys may get a look as a Freshman. Can’t teach or really even develop elite speed.

Dontay Hunter entered the transfer portal this week. This could be interesting. For those who might not remember, Hunter was recruited for UK by Coach Marrow out of Westerville Central hs in Westerville, OH. Hunter was receiving multiple crystal ball predictions for UK but then unexpectedly committed to Purdue. Now he is leaving Purdue. I bring this up because Hunter is a 6'5" 240# edge defender, and Coach Stoops has said he is looking for more edge defenders in the portal.

UK was Hunter's only reported SEC offer but he received at least five B10 offers and several others from eastern Power 5 schools. IDK if UK will get involved with him again, but he might be able to fill a need on our defense if both sides are still interested.

Did Hunter play much at Purdue? I don't think I have ever watched Purdue play. Maybe a few min flipping thru the channels against OSU or something

I thought bobo wasn't any good. I see UGA took his commitment

You will see his dad become an analysis very soon, don't think he will ever take a snap for UGA. But he won't be the only one in the class who won't so It isn't a huge deal. But not too many are thrilled with it. Bobo, Muschamp and Kirby are 3 best friends kind of deal, Muschamp got so much from his buyouts he is willing to pay his kid's way, Bobo not so much.

😂

Robinson played in a limited passing attack, but still had over 550 yards. He is also probably a better PR. I doubt anyone matches WR1’s stats, but I think TR is a very good get.

True that.

As everyone knows, this time of year the list of names in the transfer portal grows longer almost every day. And as most people here know, Coach Stoops is still looking for receivers, edge defenders, and DBs.

I have been periodically updating this thread with new names in the transfer portal who previously received UK scholarship offers when coming out of hs. Here is another update. These players formerly received UK offers and are currently available for transfer invitations.

Bryce Austin, DL, Purdue
Tyler Baron, DL, TN
Dee Beckwith, ATH, TN
Andy Boykin, DL, AR
Devin Bush, CB, AR
Kenneth Dicks III, DB, WF
Darrion Henry-Young, DL, OH St
Kobe Hudson, WR, Auburn
Dontay Hunter, LB, Purdue
Jadon Jackson, WR, Ole Miss
Shocky Jacques-Louis, WR, Pitt
Darnell Jefferies, DL, Clemson
Caleb Offord, DB, ND
Ian Stewart, WR, MI St
Cameron Williams, LB, IU

That may have been what happened… but it’s totally in bounds nowadays

Ky should do the same if one of our big guns wants To look around
I have seen more than one poster say that. The name/image/likeness rule does not authorize schools to pay players. Players may sign endorsement deals with businesses so that a business can pay them for use of their name, image, or likeness. In fact, this is being done at UK.

Schools still cannot pay players for their commitments or to keep them. A booster can offer an endorsement deal to a player if the booster owns a legitimate business and the player's endorsement is also legitimate. I am not suggesting a team of NCAA investigators is closely investigating and verifying each and every endorsement. Eventually, though, they will have to, or else the whole thing will melt down into a failed system in which most schools will be on the outside looking in, and boosters and bookies will run the successful athletic departments. Only a matter of time.

He was literally recruited by everyone. From the Cincy area, UK should have a decent shot at him.
Darrion Henry-Young was recruited by Vince Marrow out of Princeton hs in Cincinnati, but he signed in OH St's 2020 class. Since then, Stoops has put UK's football program in a stronger position to attract players like Henry-Young. Many college programs in the area will try to convince him to transfer. But since Henry-Young is visiting UK, we can be cautiously optimistic. Our 3-4 defense would be a great fit for him, as long as he is willing to share the position with Rybka. Henry-Young's name appeared on this thread last week as a transfer possiblity.

Agree it reads as DE all the way. Doesn’t look like Analee is impressive as he’s been jumped by Rybka and Gibson beat him out before transferring

I think it's too early to form conclusions about Anaele. Anaele's career is just getting started. If Henry-Young transfers to UK, then Anaele could have a problem getting onto the field. But if Anaele gets onto the field and gets opportunities to play, I think he will continue to develop and become a good player. He isn't going to beat out Rybka, but that is a different discussion.
