Attempting to add some substance to the discussion of upcoming transfers

Tyler Steen received an offer from UK when he was a hs prospect.

Mason Brooks and Tommy Brown did not. That doesn't mean they can't talk with UK's coaches now that they are in the portal. But it is a lot simpler to establish a dialog and attract a player if the player is already familiar with your coaches and program.

Most (not all) of the transfers accepted by Stoops while he has been at UK were players Stoops and his staff had tried to recruit coming out of hs.

Steen is Vandy's starting LT. He was a three star coming out of high school. At 6-5 315 he has excellent size for that position. Looks like Brown got to play some at Bama this year. A 4 star coming out of high school he is a 6-7 320 RG. But they bragged on how well he did pass protecting so maybe he could play RT.

Thats not true at all regarding transfer policies. Changes in that area are mostly due to public perception. The notion that the NCAA would be ripe for a bunch of lawsuits has been pitched on message boards for 25 years on each and every issue that comes up, but no lawsuits are ever successful - you never see a kid suing to play after being denied eligibility because any decent attorney will know its a waste of paper.
Welcome back, haven't seen you post for a while. Did you decide to come back after winning the NC, lol. And congrats for that, I bet on Georgia,

Would love an experienced LT that would give Goodwin time to get acclimated to the SEC.

The longer it takes Goodwin to acclimate, the less he'll play for UK. Why think on terms that he's going to be here longer than 3 years?

I just don't see any way Goodwin isn't a starter at 1 tackle. None of the guys on the team or in the recruiting class are as big & athletic as him. He might have to spend 2022 at right tackle as he get acclimated to college football pass blocking & competing with SEC front 7's.

Then 2 yrs at LT, then off to a high top 10 draft slot if all goes well on development & injury free.

Evan started at guard as a freshman at Bama, RT as a Soph, and is now the top LT going in the NFL draft

yeah...its' almost a given for me he'll be at starting left tackle or worst case right tackle day 1.

Steen came out of high school as a strong side DE at 270 pounds. So you can see how much he has worked on this body and yes starting at LT in the SEC for three years would make him a high priority for most teams.

UK's Tre'Von Morgan WR enters the portal. They moved him to TE, but that was not a good move for him. Needed to find a way to use him at WR like they did Ahmad Wagner

Goodwin is not a Rtackle. He will be the starter at Ltackle.

People need to realize you can't have enough depth on the dl. We saw how bad that hurt us midseason this year. We were 3 deep across the line and were missing 2 starters and 2 backups and a 3rd stringer too. Those big guys are fine platooning 3 deep. 350# is really easy to be tired or a slight knee pain is gonna hurt like hell.

Next time your ankle or knee hurts... go grab 100# and walk around with it and see how much worse that joint hurts.

Big People Problems.

Yeah, right now we are best quality wise two deep. And that is if a couple of guys like Saunders, Anaele or Young for instance are ready to play well. To get three deep IMO we would either have to get another transfer or two or a guy like frosh Walker coming in is good enough to be 3rd string.

Different offense let Coen take care of the offensive personnel

So if players can sign with a business and get money then why can't they sign the same deal with the school. After all the school advertises as well. This was the problem with NIL in the first place. It was implemented by judges that have little idea of what they are dealing with.
Because the school would lose its tax exempt status as a not for profit organization and don't think I don't see the irony of you calling judges ignorant.

Hopefully he's a backup swing tackle or if we are terribly desperate RT. If he starts at LT, at least first half of season, then we are likely in trouble on passing downs.

Transfer question about contact between coaches and players: I know coaches can't contact a player until his name is in the portal. Is a player allowed to initiate contact before entering the portal?

If not I'm not sure it's that hard to be at a school where you're a known commodity and recieve interest from other programs. I'm sure someone in someone's camp can find out who's interested in who really easily.

If I was let's say Bryce Young and I wanted to transfer to KY. (Yeah I know just using example here work with it.)
Or wandale. Do you really think that if Bryce Young wanted to transfer in he wouldn't be able to get the info to UK staff that he wanted to come here that's just not even close to right.
I'd hazard most known commodity players like the QB from OU (not rattler) the GA national championship WR this year, they know what they have before they enter.
Wamdale got the info back here that he wanted to come home.

Wham’Dale.

I wish you had shared that before the season was up!

Coaching staffs put out “feelers“ through mutual acquaintances. They use the backroads.

Pretty sure Hopper was only in there a couple of days, before he withdrew his name.

Edge Kamron Butler of Miami OH entered the portal. HS at Cov Cath. Has 14 sacks in 30 games over last 3 years.

2021 - First Team All-MAC
2020 - Second Team All-MAC
2019 - Second Team All-MAC

Tough to make the jump from MAC to SEC but if we need more edge depth and have a scholly available.

Seems he would have 2 years of eligibility left. The idea of him coming in and playing with Weaver and Wright for a year and then possibly making a name for himself in ‘23 may be something that appeals to him. Any step up for him will be a step up to tougher competition. Transitioning with Wright and Weaver may be a good option. And, being back in Kentucky.

Dont forget about DL Dinkins as well. I think I’m he is well above the weight on the roster as he looked really long when standing near other players.

DE: Rybka, Anaele, Henry-Young
NT: Hayes, Rogers, Q. Jones
DT: Ox, Saunders, Dinkins, Deone Walker

Even though that counts on a true FR (either Jones or Walker at 3rd string NG), that’s potentially a solid 3 deep. That also doesn’t include Abadi-Fitzgerald who could return for a super senior season backing up Ox at DT.
