Another hypothetical

3-7 vs. UOFL and 40-0 easy for me. We have such young teams that those early loses don't mean much. I would like to win everything but in that scenario its easy for me. Id rather be playing for #10 and have that all time team.

Overtake UK how? Since Cal's arrival, in your scenario, it would look like this:

Kentucky in 8 years
2 National Championships
1 National Runner up
4 Final Fours
2-0 against UL in NCAA Tournament

Louisville in 8 years
1 NCAA Championship
2 Final Fours
0-2 against UK in NCAA Tournament

People who answer option 2 are putting UL's failures above UK's success imo.

That's exactly how I see it. Even if UL held and 8-2 advantage in this scenario, UK would have beaten them in the only 2 games that mattered. No one gives a sh*t about the regular season games. Those are mostly forgotten a few days after they are played. This isn't college football where 1 loss can ruin your season.

Because it would mean Louisville has basically owned us for around 2 decades, and since there would be no scandal, Pitino would be seen superior and moved Louisville to equal footing with UK in a lot of ways. . I like the fact that Pitino proved UK can't be dethroned. Their demise is important moving forward. In the scenario you're picking, Louisville would be moving into top 5 status, probably pushing Kansas out. At least they'd be close.

It's a tough one, but I'd keep it the same for sure.

I'm still confused. In the scenario I am choosing, UL would be at the exact same spot they have been in since they won it all in 2013. The only thing that would be different is they would have a few more regular season wins. Do you feel like they moved into top 5 status after the 2013 title?

You changed the criteria. You didn't state that Pitino dominated UK for two decades in the original post, just that he was 8-2 against Calipari.

In the scenario you're picking, UK would only be up on UL head to head, 26-24. Louisville would have dominated UK over the last 2 decades, and they'd be rejoicing over Pitino owning Kentucky. There is also no scandal so, Pitino would be king of Kentucky.

That has huge implications about the position of both programs in the state.

Personally, throwing our dominance away over one title? Na, we'll always get titles.

So imo the choice you're picking is worse for UK.

Easy one for me, I'll take Option 1.

The Title isn't everything, but it is the best individual thing.
Plus that we go 2-8 vs UL doesn't affect me, since I've met <5 UL fans in the past 20 years.
Now substitute UNC for UL in this scenario, and it gets much more difficult for me. I'd have to think about that one for awhile.
