No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa planning late decision, Kentucky remains in the mix
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats remain in the running for the top high school recruit in the country in AJ Dybantsa.
I agree. Now that he is at a prep school in Utah byu is making a major play for him. Problem is he'll be invisible there except for some conference games. Not even close to the UK stage. He would be a good one for Mark Pope to get. A great one to build a quality team around in 25-26.
An actual must get recruit.
I think you take recruits like this. There's a difference between John Wall, Zion, AD, RJ Barret, true top 5 guys are takers. Top 20-25 guys usually are the ones who you dont want. That's the disconnect.I just don’t see how anyone can view a HS player this way after the last 10 years of recruiting top 1 or 2 classes with not even a final four or 1 seed. That article posted today of popes top 2 things he looks for being shooting and skill don’t really favor 18 year olds imo. Think pope will need to have continuity, transfers, and 2 or 3 HS recruits sprinkled in. Don’t think a freshman will ever be a make or break for us with Popes style.
Have you seen this kid play 6ft9 and can play anywhere on the court including pg don't come around to oftenI just don’t see how anyone can view a HS player this way after the last 10 years of recruiting top 1 or 2 classes with not even a final four or 1 seed. This is the same thing I say. You pick him up and surround him with a bunch of transfers and it’s $$$. I feel the exact same way @Son_Of_Saul and you do about this one recruit! An actual must get recruit.
I’d love to get him but I don’t see him as a “must get “ recruit. When’s the last time a freshman led a team to a championship, or even a final four.An actual must get recruit.
Well, when we've had top 5 pick freshmen on the team, we've made the Elite Eight (2010); Final Four (2012); Final Four (2015); and the Elite Eight (2017).I’d love to get him but I don’t see him as a “must get “ recruit. When’s the last time a freshman led a team to a championship, or even a final four.
FIFYCould be the best freshman since Cooper Flagg.
This kid looks like a man already. He woukd be a beast if Pope can get him. I hope they are going all out for him. Think he will be one freshman who will be a difference maker.Have you seen this kid play 6ft9 and can play anywhere on the court including pg don't come around to often
I'm expecting Flagg to be a level below that. We'll see.FIFY
We need a few of these high rated recruits to mix with the veterans and some local players we don't need 8 or 9 of themThis kid looks like a man already. He woukd be a beast if Pope can get him. I hope they are going all out for him. Think he will be one freshman who will be a difference maker.
Cal had to have those guys . Cals gone . When was the last time a freshman led his team to a title or even a final four ?Well, when we've had top 5 pick freshmen on the team, we've made the Elite Eight (2010); Final Four (2012); Final Four (2015); and the Elite Eight (2017).
Over the last 15 years, the only year we've had a top 5 pick on the roster and not made a Final Four was last season with Sheppard.
Dybantsa is transcendent in the same way Zion and Wall were. Both of those guys made the Elite Eight. He could be a piece, and a very good piece, and if he's surrounded by veterans, he wouldn't have to be "the man", but rather, one of a few men on the team that could help us dramatically.
So why do coaches other than Cal, go after those guys?Cal had to have those guys . Cals gone . When was the last time a freshman led his team to a title or even a final four ?
I don’t mean this smart towards you at all but top shelf recruits would have substantially different results with different coaches.I just don’t see how anyone can view a HS player this way after the last 10 years of recruiting top 1 or 2 classes with not even a final four or 1 seed. Good question. I’ll be happy if we get him . But he is not a “must get recruit” imo. No freshman is these days. It’s been awhile since a freshman has led a team to a final four.So why do coaches other than Cal, go after those guys?
Honestly last years team was an easy elite 8, If not final 4 team if Cal had any drive left. The fact he couldn’t get that team to at least play passing defense is crazy.Well, when we've had top 5 pick freshmen on the team, we've made the Elite Eight (2010); Final Four (2012); Final Four (2015); and the Elite Eight (2017).

The rules were different in the years you mentioned . Freshmen cannot win the NCAA under the new rules. As I recall of the final four teams this year only one starter of the twenty was a freshman.Well, when we've had top 5 pick freshmen on the team, we've made the Elite Eight (2010); Final Four (2012); Final Four (2015); and the Elite Eight (2017).

Cal isnt the only coach to ever recruit good players at KentuckyI don’t think we get kids like this anymore. It will be an adjustment for everyone.
How is your Arkansas team faring for dybsanta? If Cal does not land him should he fold up tent and pack the Buick?Fewer of you are going to be able to tell me I'm crazy about not landing this caliber of player anymore every time we lose another one.

Cooper Flagg might be great at Duke, but the best part for college hoops is A.J. Dybantsa could be even better
High-profile freshmen are poised to shine in college basketball in the coming years in a way not seen since Zion Williamsonwww.cbssports.com
