No doubt! I wondered about this with BVG last season. These things could cause a problem in team dynamics
That is true but they were probably Top 3-4 in the ACC. They aren’t competing in the SEC. That is all that matters. This was their 1st year in the ACC too. Let see how it goes from here on out. They basically joined the ACC for free because they have buckets of money.SMU has the #32 recruiting class. They had the #32 portal class. They made it there because of a weak schedule. The played 2 decent teams and lost both games. In the future could they start buying the top ranked players of course but that hasn’t happened. Indiana is in the CFP also. They didn’t buy a great team. They did draw a great schedule
Sure it has but it still boils down to supply and demand. Anthony Davis was 250k pre NIL which UK outbid the market. The teams willing to cross the line or spend that money was much smaller pool. Today he would be 3m-4m range. The difference is there are now teams that are willing participants in the market place. UK really only had to worry about Duke. Now they have to deal with several more teams that have jumped into the market. When BYU is willing to pay 7M that is the difference. That is a non blue blue throwing money around.A lot has changed.
When it wasn't out in the open, a proven, program changing player like Cam Newton only commanded a $250,000 payday. Now, an unproven high school QB gets a multi-million dollar check just to enroll... plus, every decent position player is getting a big check compared to pre-NIL days.
A LOT has changed since pre-NIL.
It can definitely change. You are correct, had they played UK’s schedule, there are at least 5-6 playoff teams that wouldn’t have gotten more than 6-7 wins. That is true but they were probably Top 3-4 in the ACC. In college they all think they are pros. Why, it doesn't in the pros
