There was a penalty on the Bengals touchdown too in the 3rd the refs ignored. I think things evened out.

Game was lost on 3rd and 1. This is a team with Burrow, Mixon, Chase, Higgins, Boyd, etc., and they put the ball in Perine's hands. That's inexcusable. That just can't happen and it should stick with Zac Taylor the rest of his career.
Defense played great. They’re going to feel sick over the penalty. I know Burrow is probably in tears.

And a missed spot call on the long Chase reception, and a play that Higgins was held on in the end zone where Ramsey tugged him by the jersey, which was much more of a hold than the hold on Logan Wilson.
Reinforces how much the Bengals need a RT or RG. Burrow too valuable to not put everything into that OL till they get it right.

Yeah I'm not a fan of either but the less referenced issue, to me, is that the spot on third down put them a full yard away when you can easily see on replay that it was close to the marker. If it's spotted correctly they may just go qb sneak. Unfortunately, it's up to the NFL to make that decision, it can't be challenged.

Yeah that's what I get a kick out of with the electric push. I'm not totally opposed to it per se I guess...but by the time you factor in the electric charges and the eventual disposal and/or replacement of the car battery it's really not a save the earth deal.

Actually, even the best NFL teams are mediocre - as intended. I mean a 14-5 team vs. a 12-7 for the championship involves greatness?
The Bengals needed better play-calling. They cost themselves early going with 2 straight running plays on 2nd and then 3rd and 1. Whole field was open to them on 2nd and 1, but they run slow developing plays on the ground.
They lost the game because, as many feared, they could not protect Burrow enough. Cincy will be back, IF they can shore up the OL and land a great pass rusher on the outside.
Marino, Brees, and Rodgers never got back to the Super Bowl. Nothing is guaranteed. Missed opportunity.

The Bengals D played well enough for their team to win. 2 picks and timely, heads up plays. It shouldn't have come down to that last drive. Only one of the 3 PI/holding calls on the Rams' game-winning drive was a bad call.
The offense is what did them in. The missed blocking assignments and bad play calls hurt. So did the 25 yard loss on 3rd down with the sack and PF. Rams looked like a team and staff that had been there and weren't afraid. Bengals looked tentative with the lead and overall play calling by comparison. Burrow looked like maybe the only one unphased by the moment.
Has to be disappointing for the Cincy players. Coaching staff can't look at this game and think they did their jobs well enough to win the game, though. GM needs to finish building this team. No excuses.
