“OFFICIALS SUPER BOWL THREAD- BENGALS @ RAMS

Bengals were up 20-13 with 10:15 left in the third quarter. They proceeded to shit their pants by going:

3 plays, -3 yards
5 plays, -2 yards
7 plays, 24 yards
5 plays, 26 yards

4 drives, 45 total yards

End of game

Lost it in the trenches, weird sub patterns and the drop. First half Bengals actually blocked well. Second half they turned to swiss cheese.

Can't have the backup rb get that carry.

First drop of the season for the wr. Brutal time to not look it in

Von Bell had some silly penalties. Cost them the SF game with a taunting and got a costly roughness on that last TD drive in the end zone tonight.

It just ain't ever gonna happen for the Bengals

40 plus years and counting for me....I dont see it ever happening....if the O-line is not addressed then I hope Burrows walk out on them

Now it sounds like there may be more to Burrows knee injury.

Things I don’t get about the Bengals and their play calling. They know the o-line is sub par, yet you rarely see a quick hot route option. How do you not have Mixon in for that carry or play action on 3rd and 1? It seems to me that too often the Bengals go for chunk plays when quicker ball control plays to get the 4-5 yard quick hitters would keep the ball out of the opposition’s hands. Far too many slow developing routes with Burrow holding the ball behind that O-line. Very little use off Chase on crossing routes to use his explosive speed for YAC. Just frustrating to see the play calling.

The most devastating sporting loss of my life. Shattered. Unable to speak and I barely can breathe. I'm sure I'd flunk a Coved test right now even if I don't have it.

It was right there. The game was literally just right there. Reach your arm out, extend your hand, wrap your fingers around it because it is yours. There will never ever in the annals of sport be any other contest more readily there for the taking that this one was. Don't need any heroic efforts. Nothing extravagant. Just reach your arm out. It is right there...

My motor skills have stopped working. I am unable to reply. To post the thing I knew for 100% would cost us this game. We didn't need Bill Walsh or Bill Belicheck, just a competent play caller to do normal football stuff. Take what they give you and go down and kick the FG and let's see if we can get a break in OT. Nope. Too much to ask. Zac gotta Zac. We were Zac'd the whole game on offense. 2nd half opens beautifully with the play action deep ball then PRESTO right back to run it up the middle and put Joe in 2nd and 3rd and long into the teeth of the pass rush for the rest of the game. That critical drive at the 7 minute mark should have featured 1st down play action short passes to get us into 2nd and short where we could run or pass. Tom Brady made a career on it. But ol' Zac took over and Zac'd us right into the ground. Choked the life right out of me. If he had personally drove over to my house and burnt it to the ground then shot my dog he couldn't have killed me any more completely that what I am right now.

The whole 2nd half after the play action bomb, was there another 1st down play action pass the rest of the game? Tom Brady DEMANDED Bruce Arians implement it against his will in TB because Tom knows how to win games on critical drives, but ol' Zac the boy blunder thinks the shotgun in 4th and SUPER BOWL for 1 yard is there. For God's sake line up under center even if you want to throw it and PLAY ACTION to give yourself a chance even if you are a complete IDIOT that shouldn't be the head coach of a high school team.

If I'm Burrow, I walk in and tell them all, if you don't fix the O-line. I will never play another down for their Org.

The only “TD” pass Burrows throws the entire game was a flagrant offensive PI 75 yarder, and Bengals fans are crying about the refs 😂

The Bengals are more likely to miss the playoffs next year than win a playoff game. You were a 4 seed and it showed.
What a fun life it must be to have this must hatred for the Cincinnati Bengals of all teams. You were positive they had no chance in any game leading up to this. I’m sure you’re right about the Bengals’ future though.

The defense was spectacular. Great job. Played their hearts out. Me personally on their 4th and 1 where they handed the ball to Cooper, that's the ballgame right there so I would have preferred to bring everyone on a zero blitz because you win the game by stopping them cold or absolute worst case they get one over your head or break a TD run but then at least you've got time to work back down the field. Not a game breaker because the defense played and schemed well enough (more than well enough) to win this game so hats off to those guys on that side of the ball. They played like they wanted it while our offense was pathetic due to a complete lack of football skill/understanding/competence by our coaching staff.

Please GOD bring in Joe Brady or somebody to run the offense along with the obvious O line as all the shiny receivers in the world don't mean a thing if your quarterback is crumpled with both his knees broken.

He asked them to draft Chase and it paid off. The Bengals will address the o line.
Chase was just one pick. Their next pick never played a down in the SB that I am aware of. They signed one O-lineman in FA in Reiff. If it turns out Burrow has another knee injury to his right knee, the pushback should be non-stop and in their face.

It's a inexcusable problem for them to have knowing their O-line is garbage. They win the SB tonight if they had an average O-line. No guarantees on another shot at it.

I don't trust them to fix it.

probably a Titans or Chiefs fan who is butthurt....or maybe butthurt is a life choice for him

Joe's career will be brief and getting briefer. Already Joe has lost years off the top of his career by this abysmally incompetent organization. When we drafted Joe Burrow I was posting from the rooftops to immediately make the O-line the #1 priority and I posted he'd get knocked out for the year and injured if they didn't and that is exactly what happened.

Everyone knows I was incensed by taking Chase instead of trading down to take Slater plus 2nd and 3rd round picks we could have used to build a solid line around Joe. Slater is now a pro bowl starter and Joe has a 6 inch gash scar on his knee and now his other one got twisted badly.

Those that are thinking "we'll be back" and all the other naive thoughts need to understand this, the Bengals will not want to spend the kind of money to do what needs to be done. No chance we sign Chase after his rookie contract is over. The Bengals will slowly start cutting contracts and we will regress from this season. not build on it. Settle in for another 31 years if you've got it.

Get used to it. Most sports is crushing disappointment. My titans set a record for injuries in a season and Henry clearly wasn't healthy for the Bengals playoff game. And then we turn it over a ton and lose a close one. It happens. I'm over it and u will be as well.

We've got a lot of cap space for free agency signings. We bolster the line with REAL RT and RG and we're off to the races boys. We're just a few pieces shy. Proud we already got this far so soon in Joe's career. You haven't seen the last of these Bengals.

Been a fan too long to to think like this....tonight is just another crushing loss....I don't believe this Org ever wins a SB.

I expect nothing but frustration from this Franchise, and I expect that to continue. This year doesn't translate to next year. Not how that works. Been a fan since the 70s. Too many "wait til next year's" for me to buy in to it.

This year was a great year and the playoff run was amazing. Expecting this to be common is a road I traveled for a lot of years. I now go into the season with no expectations. I will next year as well.

I don't expect anything. I really don't. I expect next year to be like most years I have spent as a Bengal fan, disappointing.

I don't trust them to truly fix the O-line. I don't trust them to sign Bates. I don't trust them to upgrads the CB position. I don't trust them period. Until they win a SB and prove me wrong, I won't trust them. I don't think I have anything to worry about.

I hate to say this because it is so evil and twisted, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Mike Brown just wanted to use Joe up for ticket sales and wasn't concerned about him getting hurt because that will make him cheaper when they have to finally pay him 40 or 50 million which Mike Brown would rather not have to contend with. So win-win as far as Mike is concerned. Increased ticket sales and a discount on an injured Joe. Vacation time!

Just have to wait and see what we do in the draft and with that cap space in free agency. Burrow and Chase are talents we have never had. Ever. The window has only just opened.

This is a ridiculous take. If making money off Burrow is all Mike Brown cares about, an injured franchise QB isn’t good for business.

Just as an FYI, when Kodak developed film, particularly color film, they ignored dark skin tones. Once they improved their color film to be able to capture a wider range of skin tones, machines that developed film were only calibrated with sample photos of white people. When shooting digital you have to know specific techniques to properly expose and shoot dark skin tones and they're not widely taught in photography school.

If you watch shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air where the cast is mostly Black you'll see they look over lit and washed out. It's because they didn't compensate for filming darker tones, they just turned up the exposure to lighten the entire shot.

It's not that cameras are racist, it's that historically they have only been developed and calibrated to accurately capture light skin tones.
Wow. That is a lot of reaching!

I watched all the Will Smith Fresh prince (even with the Vivian part II) and I simply didn’t have any problem seeing darker skin cd lighter skin black people….and didn’t matter as the content was all that matters and was good show

Trying to imagine up the path of black people are impacted by camera lighting is out of the twilight zone

Lol it’s a very well documented issue within photography. Just because you don’t think it’s a problem first mean it’s reaching.

He was sacked 19 times in the post season to go along with being the most sacked QB in the league coming off a serious season ending injury the year before.

But hey, look at some of the posters in here that love to explain it all away because "they're addressing it now" LOL. Burn the barn down then close the gate. The Bengals Way since Mike Brown took over for Paul.

So we're already getting a reduced career from Joe. Too late for that part. We'll patch him together like Frankenstein and shove him out there behind another cobbled together shoddy job but I'm telling you, the Brown family will be looking to cut contracts and go forward on the cheap to make as much money as they can off that Super Bowl, not build on it. Those dreaming about building on it know nothing about how Mike Brown operates.

Well to be fair...in the 1980's taking a picture iwth a Kodak camera and having it come out the bottom of camera and you having to fan it for a few minutes....even white people's pics were not the best visuals either....but it wasn't some silly conspiracy with dark skinned people.....it's technology had not yet advanced.

It's why AOL download speeds on internet would take minutes/hours in the 1990's...now it's seconds with fiber/high speed lines. It's why people's cars would break down due to faulty starters/caburators....now I've not had a problem getting my car to start in morning in decades. It's why you can pay for things thru a simple Venmo/tap of chip on your phone/credit card....vs. being behind people writing checks in food/clothing stores and taking 5 minutes to get the cashier to clear it.....it's all technology has advanced some things.

Come on....this is just absurd.

What in the world are you talking about? The Bengals management (who most certainly doesn’t include an 86 yo) literally bought an entire defense that just got them to the super bowl. They weren’t doing shit unless they found a D, and they bought a damn good one.

Yes, they could have bought an OL piece, but they didn’t. And they didn’t really need it. We just saw the best Bengals team we’ve ever seen, probably will ever see, and some people are whining about management not spending money….after they spent an assload of it to get to the super bowl.

I said this on draft night, and I still believe it….Joe Burrow was stupid to “pick” the Bengals in this age of sport where you pick and choose where you play. I’ll leave it at that.

Joe Brady just fell flat on his face in his NFL chance, hard pass on him
You're holding him accountable for that dumpster fire in Carolina? OK, but it would be about the only thing I could think of to salvage giving Zac an extension. If you don't get play calling out of Zac's hands we're stuck with a ceiling.

We were saved in 5 games by FG kicks to win. We got Joe wrecked all year sack after sack. Zac blew every big call he had to make all year and showed zero ability to run the offense in the red zone in the playoffs. We had a Super Bowl given to us but wouldn't take it. I don't know if I will ever get over losing that gift of a game. Got to start somewhere and bringing in Joe Brady to run the offense and reunite that LSU connection with Joe and Chase seems like a great idea to me, or certainly better than standing pat and rolling with Zac continuing to call the plays.

Agree. Chase is already the best WR the Bengals have ever had.

The front office MUST fix this O-line. I just don’t trust them fully yet.

Marino, Brees, and Rodgers never got back to the Super Bowl. Nothing is guaranteed. Missed opportunity.

Bills seem like they’re on the cusp. Chiefs are the Chiefs. I’m sure the Pats will be back. Hoping Joe and the Bengals can get back and win a few rings.
Yeah there are several AFC teams that are lined up to be there the next few years

And you should be! It's too bad more of the Bengals fans didn't enjoy the season because they had given up on the franchise, but at least they made a great run in the playoffs. You're tons closer to a SB ring than my Steelers or Bears. I hope you enjoy this fully and that your administration doesn't let you down in terms of personnel.

I think the front office deserves a little more credit. They’ve changed how they’ve operated and look what’s happened. They pretty much bought a super bowl defense outside of Bates and Hubbard. They’ve drafted pretty well lately.

I don’t see a reason to think they won’t address the o line. They may not get the next Willie Anderson to play RT but I’m confident the line will be improved.

Agree with most of this. Have no opinion on Brady, though. I do know Carolina cannot be hung on any one coach's neck. That franchise is chaos right now.

Sucks for Burrow that his body has already aged 4-5 years in NFL terms because of a lack of protection on the OL, especially when the freakin franchise went into the off-season last year KNOWING they needed a great player at LT. Cost them their first Super Bowl victory.

Unbelievable they blocked so poorly second half yet still had a chance to win. No excuse not to go heavy OL.

Defense played well. Gave up essentially two jump ball tds. Brutal

Why is nobody talking about the most important play of the game? The dropped hold on the extra point decided the game.
