“Don’t leave Kentucky or they will all hate you”

I mean, but, we have player haters. And we also have fan haters. Least little thing happens, it's the fans fault. Not saying you're one, hope you didn't think that. Some folks need to be called out for going too far. Some though, live to shit all over everyone, like spamhamburger.
Believe me, I’m not the negative type. Before I quit posting here in 2015, I was labeled a sunshine pumper on this site for 20 years. The only fans I call out are the chronically negative. I shouldn’t do it, but occasionally I do. My bad? :)

Do we have many in our fan base that need to chill? Absolutely.

But part of being a pro (that everyone is in so a rush to be these days) is tuning out the hate tbh. Dealing with criticism, dumb fan comments, unfavorable media articles, unrealistic expectations, GMs that ship you from city to city, etc is all part of being a “pro.”

KW took his ball and went home the first sign of adversity. He lost minutes and instead of working to get them back, he packed up and quit. Plain and simple. I do not feel sorry for him nor did I feel bad for the team when he left. He was irrelevant here. The shade he thinks he feels from the fan base is far less related to “hate” and more so just plain old fashioned indifference.

The next time that Orton, Hami, Vanderbilt, and Skal took the court, they were on an NBA roster.

I never got the negativity surrounding these guys. Orton lost his mom, Diallo should have been worked into things his first semester here, Vanderbilt was hurt, and Skal worked his butt off. Expectations are killers

He was hated on the whole brief time he was here. Don’t pretend that isn’t true. Why would a kid want to stay more than one season when that’s how you’re treated by your “fans”?

Must have missed the hate. I don't get on basketball message boards as much during basketball season when football isn't done yet, so that may be why. Naturally talented kid. Wished he'd have been able to put things together here.

Too many coaches and not enough parents these days. Message boards, social media, call in shows.

I don't think Diallo wanted to be involved his first season here. Wasn't he trying to protect his NBA stock?

I wish KW well. I think he made a bad choice. Probably got some bad advice. I think he definitely needs to find a school that could use a great athlete with limited skills that would work with him to develop those skills. He is nowhere near being NBA ready, but he does have NBA potential. He just needs to put in the work and have the discernment to know who to listen to. Like I said, he made a bad choice. It’s not the end of the world. He just needs to be careful not to compound the mistake by hiring an agent or going to a school that will pamper him.

Thank you, I was sitting here scratching my head trying to think back, and for the life of me couldn't recall Jay leaving early. Not sure where the guy who posted that got that idea, perhaps he was thinking of someone else.

I was referring to him quitting the team then eventually deciding to return. Some called it a suspension back in the day. His mother made him come back

Cool beans. I'll take your word for it because I don't remember it, but it was long time ago and my memory from that long ago isn't what it used to be, lol.

Frankly, I don't hate Whitney; I don't like him. I don't care; he's a non-entity. He does not play for UK anymore. With that being said, what he said on EJ's instagram was definitely some BS, and he needs to shut up.

Was he “hated” that much though? Nah. I mean sure you had a small handful of idiots like every walk of like but people mostly just discussed his not being very good at ALL. People discussed how awful he looked on offense. People discussed how he lacks even basic basketball skills. That’s isn’t being mean or “hating” him.

Wtf happened to message boards? Where did all these soft people come from? Used to be able to tell someone to FO and still have conversations an hour later with no hard feelings. Gtfoh with all the "waaahwaah, you hurt ____ feelings"

Wow. Are we sensitive?

that actually might be the very definition of it. Lol

Hardly.

First, I don't believe the players are checking Cats Illustrated to see what's being said. But even if they are--saying that Whitney needs to play better isn't "hating."

If you can't handle internet strangers breaking down your games while in college--you're in for a rude awakening.

I'm a Lakers fan and post/read on some of the Lakers boards. And they don't coddle anyone there. If you can't handle it now, how are you going to take it in the NBA in a few months?

I'm against Tweeting at players and tagging them on Twitter. I think directly contacting them in that way is bad taste. But I'm not going to coddle you and say you're playing well when you're not. You'll have to grow up and face some music.

Yeah I’m not quite sure how people think majority on this board were “hating” on him. Sure, you have a small handful of idiots taking it too far but by and large most on here just called it for what it is, and that is KW was well below mediocre this year and (as of now) just isn’t very good at basketball.

Comparing nba players with CBB players ?

Evidently you are a hater.

I didn't recruit any players and none are playing for me. If a kid quits playing for UK or any other team that's between him, the coach, and the team. The player owes fans nothing and I'm certainly not taking it personally. Some of the comments on this thread are insane.

I agree he didn't pan out very well. With that said, maybe he did the team a favor by moving on. I've read a lot of comments that condemned him for leaving along with several crude and obscene suggestions. Why are fans upset with a player who apparently heeded their assessment of him?
