Coaches are complaining about NIL and players getting paid. I hate it also. But lets be fair about this and about regulating everyone! Are athletic coaches really more important than doctors, bankers, sales people, factory workers, educators, food service people, farmers, etc.? Why not limit the amount of money that a coach can make as well. So, why do head coaches of football and basketball make so much money? It's because everyone wants the best and wants to win - right? So, why not limit coaches salaries to a reasonable top amount for any school! It would stop coaches from moving so much in many cases. We will probably lose some of our really good coaches in the future to money. But wasn't it refreshing to see Coach White talk about there are things more important than money to him and his family! Why put the pressure on a coach to leave to be considered successful by his peers? That pressure is real - coaches are judged by how much they make as by how much they win in reality! One thing for sure - Texas A & M has proven spending a lot of money on a football coach doesn't guarantee you wins.

Think about this - Mark Stoops came to Kentucky 10 years ago for 70% less than he is making now. But that amount of money paid him handsomely then. Kentucky has to pay him his current salary - or he would leave - why? It really wouldn't be for the money as much as making a statement he is at the top of his profession and to prove that, it is the amount of money he makes - its really not about his record! I love Coach Stoops for what he has done to this program and for who he is, but if he made 1/3 of what he is making now - I bet he would be the same guy - but he can't accept that - it would make him look stupid! But it is us the fans that have driven this money craziness. The coaches have to learn to live with NIL - but if they would all agree to be paid the same - then they could fix NIL - it would show the players that there's more to playing sports than money. All I'm saying is that the coaches should be held to the same standards as the players in regards to compensation. Why not let coaches donate half of their salary to the players if they wanted to? That makes as much sense as anything. Then you see who really cares about the school or if they only care about the money. I don't a coach going from making $10 million a year to $5 million is going to live a substandard life! He probably would have a better life in reality! People would see he cares about his players, school, community and state if he did that.

The real issue isn't about being fair or doing what is right - the real issue is winning - period! Currently - money equates to winning! The same teams will continue to win - because they will always have the money. Every now and then a fluke will occur - but with the current transfer rules and money it will be a fluke - because a fluke team's star players will not be at that fluke team school the following year - they will be at Clemson or USC or Alabama, etc..
