“Don’t leave Kentucky or they will all hate you”

No we just don’t like leaving in the middle of the season decisions. Not gonna hate EJ if he goes, just wish college basketball was more like the 90s again in terms of teams sticking together.

We also as fans need to stop worrying about what players do on social media, it’s exhausting

It’s just a bad look for Whitney really. He might’ve caught some shit for leaving during the season but minus some real reason, it looks the quitters way out. Didn’t have to practice anymore and sleep in. And forget about class, sure he finished those. He’s a loser but will find a way to twist it that he’s not . Personality lacking

I wish I knew how to look up advanced stats like +/- because I for one was actually ecstatic when whitney announced his transfer as were every other kentucky fan I knew was. He was one of Cal’s guys so he would get playing time even when it meant we as a team would suffer. Finally that stopped and he was forced to leave and low and behold we became one of the best teams in the country.

Was anyone actually upset when he left?

Nope, made the team better when his weak ass left

Whitney comes from a bad family. That’s the bottomline. He’d probably be a good kid wiithout idiots raising him

Not a fan hater. Just call out the idiots.
I mean, but, we have player haters. And we also have fan haters. Least little thing happens, it's the fans fault. Not saying you're one, hope you didn't think that. Some folks need to be called out for going too far. Some though, live to shit all over everyone, like spamhamburger.

I actually feel bad for the guy. Coming here was exactly what he needed to do but in this “I gotta have it now” world we live in we never know if it’s the kid or the pressure he gets from handlers, pimps really is what they are. This kid needed a mature father figure to be able to thrive here. I didn’t like what Skal did nor did I care for how Jarred acted while he was here either. I feel like Whitney will look back on his decision sometime in the next decade and realize he made a mistake, not just a basketball mistake but a life mistake that you don’t quit when things don’t go your way. You work harder to make them notice you. Watched the movie “Greater” last night about the kid at Arkansas. My God nobody believed he could do anything but he showed his determination and it only took 1 coach to notice him. Look at the work he put in to go from a joke as a walk-on to a 1st Team All American his senior year. I want every kid that comes to Kentucky to play any sport to leave here as one of the best. It’s not possible I know but that’s what all is want as fans. Hell im still mad Clarence Tillman quit, Tim Stephens, Jay Shidler, Todd May, Jody Thompson but for all those guys we still have a Deron Feldhaus, John Pelphrey, Derek Willis, Dom Hawkins that stayed the course. Hell Chuck Aleksinas, I damn near cried when he left. So I take all of these guys with a grain of salt. They don’t come here to fail.

If this all pans out to be accurate...I think Whitney takes the spot away from Jarred Vanderbilt as Cal player fans liked the least. Whitney's numbers were straight garbage, he was being beaten out by Juzang for back up wing minutes and quits mid-season....and he is talking about UK fans with issues?
How could you hate on Vanderbilt he had some serious injuries. When he left here he sat out almost the next whole season. When I saw him in all star game he looked GREAT went down with foot injury never got back to his old self. Dude could ball Khalid never showed me anything. He has a long way to go.

Everybody’s favorite politician, Matt Jones, just said on his show that Khalil Whitney came on EJ Montgomery’s Instagram live and made this comment. What do you make of it?

I think it means EJ is 100% gone and also speaks volumes of how awful and negative social media is.
I don't hate him at all having said that his leaving helped the team improve. because cal would have kept giving him minutes over guys who
were more deserving. amazing athlete but vary little basketball skills.

Screw Whitney. I hope Cal cuts all ties with him. Dude will be erased from ever having a single Kentucky tie.

..and no, it's not cause he didn't win a title, or left a year early.. HE. QUIT. ON. HIS. TEAMMATES. He committed the worst team sport crime you can.

Seriously, Whitney could really mess with decisions and recruiting, hopefully our school handles this.

Update: Our fans should go to twitter (if they use it, I don't) to show EJ love and that it's his decision to make.
Fans should stay off Twitter and whatever else these kids use to talk to each other. It’s killing our fan base and the reputation of the BBN. The entire fan base looks like a bunch of 12 year old haters and it’s sad because that’s not what we’re about. I’m not saying this to you, (you said you didn’t do it), just the people who do it. Thanks brother! The sad thing is, it’s never going to stop! Even 40 year old or older go and say stuff to the kids. It’s sad to me. The worst thing is is that they don’t know the difference between someone pretending to be a fan or not. Anyway! Haha

Whitney deserves to be hated
No he doesn’t deserve to be hated!! He’s a kid who left school!!! That’s all!! It doesn’t matter what the reasons were, it was his decision and he’ll have to live with it. What does it matter to us if a kid doesn’t want to be here anymore? Maybe it was just too much for him but like I said before, it doesn’t matter the why! Wish him the best and be grown ups. I can’t believe what I’m reading here guys! I’m sorry for being blunt but he’s not even 20 years old and Kentucky fans don’t hate kids because they just wasn’t good enough or didn’t like school or whatever it may be.

As for someone saying something about Vanderbilt, I personally loved that kids heart! He played his butt off when he could take the pain to play, he wanted to play soo bad with his teammates he kept hurting himself and re injuring himself that he just couldn’t get out there in the end. He loved Kentucky though and I’ll always consider him a fighter and a Kentucky Wildcat.

Whitney is still a kid and has a ways to go to reach his dreams, he’s a great kid though and has been through enough hate for leaving school. He’ll be ok and Kentucky will be ok, let’s just let it go and wish him the very best like we would any kid. Thanks.

The Cats will put another good team on the floor.
Hope the dragon can find a place to make him happy .
Ky is not for everyone.
Hope the young man finds what he is looking for.

Feel bad for Whitney, he has some people around him that are a really bad influence. If it's his parents, he's screwed. It's tough to cut your parents out of your life, but whoever is controlling him needs to back away. They are ruining his life.

I can't hate the kid, because it's obviously not him that is making the decisions and it is the lead person in his life that is giving him the entitled attitude.

Hopefully EJ comes back. He could be a lottery pick if he plays his cards right and works hard.

That statement in itself is not necessarily true. There have been lots of guys who left early and are still worshiped in this state. The reason he probably felt the hate is quitting on his team mid season. I wouldn't say anything to him on social media but some people are idiots and can't control themselves but he definitely has a lot of growing up to do.

Who?

My opinion isn’t about Whitney haters. It’s about the fans who trash our players if they aren’t all-Americans by midway through their freshman year. It happens every year.

Hard to be an All-American when you leave at midseason

EJ is currently not projected to be drafted at all. You think he could turn himself into a lottery pick?

It’s not if you leave Kentucky everyone will hate you, it’s if you quit on the team in the middle of a season then everyone will hate you

Well said, Baron. This is closer to how it is.

How many Cats have transferred or left early for the league and we all still follow them and wish them well, even send them off with autograph sessions? If Whitney really believes this, he is completely ignorant.

What I guarantee you, Whitney, is if you talk sht about Kentucky they WILL despise you. Quit on the team midseason and they would have just forgotten you. I have to say you just don't know WHEN to quit.

There was a coach here once upon a time that was supported by many UK fans even after he agreed to coach UL. Then he ran his lying mouth, talking sht about UK fans to make himself look better to UL fans and he lost a lot of that support. BUT SOME STILL SUPPORTED HIM and want him to be welcomed back in spite of all the crap he pulled.

All Whitney had to do was keep his mouth shut and no one would have said much more about him. Couldn't even do that. It's no wonder we played better after he left. I thought it was just gelling like they usually do at that point in a season, but he may have been a bad apple in other ways also

Potential, he has a ton of it. He just hasn't turned the corner. If he pulls a Nick Richards transition into his junior year, he certainly can go lottery. He has the measurables and athletesism.

He badly needs more shooting range and a higher motor. More strength too.

Sure, but EJ has to want it and go after it. He's not there now.

Maybe his "style" doesn't fit what Cal does as a coach, but right now EJs style doesn't fit a starting role in the NBA. That doesn't translate to lottery pick or guaranteed money. You don't get there by expecting it to come to you.

You go get it just like rebounding. You gotta go take it. You have to have the mentality that it's yours and youll do whatever it takes to get it. Beast mode workouts, playing through fatigue, hitting the film room with a notebook and focus, working on new techniques and shots. It's a grind that will chew you up and spit you out up there otherwise.

There are lottery picks that don't pan out. That should tell EJ and everyone else all they need to know. You only have so much time
