Sources tell Deadline that Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a new Naked Gun reboot, with Liam Neeson is in negotiations to star and Akiva Schaffer set to direct. While no greenlight has been given, sources say its headed in that direction once a deal closes for Neeson.

Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who just worked with Schaffer on the Emmy-winning Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers pic, also closed a deal to pen the script. Mark Hentemann & Alec Sulkin wrote the previous draft. Schaffer also will exec produce. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing via their company Fuzzy Door.

To clarify, it's apparently a sequel, not a reboot. Liam Neeson's supposedly playing Frank's son.

The original cast and crew are a damn tough act to follow, but after seeing Rescue Rangers three times I think these guys can absolutely nail it.

Lotta anticipation and anxiety about the portal....gotta remind thar the options everyone probably wants are gonna wait until not only the season is over but possibly go through the applying/ withdrawing from the NBA draft process.

Whether we like it or not this is more marathon than sprint...plus there are still guys the staff is likely looking at for freshmen.

As I understand it there’s a recruiting “dead period” today through April 11, is that just high school or the transfer portal too? If the latter that seems silly, it’s already such a condensed time, why subdivide it further? I’m sure contact with agents and reps doesn’t stop. Is the idea to not disadvantage the teams playing this weekend?

I used ChatGPT to very quickly build a roster based on a 12 mil dollar NIL budget. This is what it came up with. It gives a pretty good visual for why we haven't signed 10 3-5 mil a year caliber players.

Magoon gooned us. Kidding. Can't blame a kid for wanting to stay somewhere he's comfortable. Some kids are just tough to pull away from the west coast. That being said, in my opiniom, Mara is now one of the most coveted big men in the portal. And yes, another west coast guy. Do we transfer all our magoon eggs to the Mara basket?

And any intel whatsoever on what we're gonna do at PG? Alot of names are falling off the list. I know it's still early portal wise. But I would think alot of these kids have had their minds made up a while about entering, and most would have entered by now? However, I'm sure some may consider later due to who their team is gaining/losing in the portal. Pope pulled a rabbit out of his hat in Butler. He was not highly ranked or mentioned much. I'm ok with the same scenario playing out because Butler became my favorite player on this team.
