SIAP: Look at how our assistant coaches react immediately after the Clash Peters foul

Just came across this alternate angle of the Clash Peters foul and was impressed with how within a second of the foul our assistant coaches stepped in to hold back our bench players from intervening/potentially getting technicals/ejected. I imagine this is relatively normal and assistant coaches plan for these scenarios, but after seeing all the fights in football on Saturday I thought it was funny.

Any new signees tomorrow?

Its VERY hard to have any type of optimism going into next year but tomorrow is signing day and Im just wondering if we actually land anyone? It feels more important to hang on to who we have (loosing Davis to Mizzou was a kick in the bean bags). Now not signing a RB in this class looms large. A group of Davis, Patterson and Wilcox looked good for next year but thats not happening now and who knows if Wilcox even stays.

There doesnt seem to be many options left to possibly sign tomorrow.

4* CB Dawayne Galloway- no idea where he is heading- took an OV to Arizona St last month
4* DT Christian Ingram - in his top 3 but looks to be either USC or South Carolina
3* JUCO Nose Seven Cloud- would be a good get but some tough competition- Tenn, UGA, Auburn, South Carolina, UF, Mizzou
3* S Grant Grayton (Minnesota commit)

Clearly we need to really crush it in the portal but signing Galloway and Cloud would be nice!

Just my observation and maybe I am wrong but......

It seems that when Stoops was doing well here he was recruiting guys who were either 1, 2 and 3 stars who were severely underrated and had a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove how good they were. He seemed to be able to relate with his "lunch pail" attitude with those guys because they had the same personality. However, over the last few seasons we have been able to get more 4 and 5 star guys that don't seem to have the same personality. They are more guys who have been coddled and made to think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They aren't cut of the same cloth where they have to work harder than everyone else because they are athletically or physically more gifted than most. Is it possible that Stoops just can't relate and therefore can't coach those types of personalities? Does he need to refocus his recruiting efforts on guys with that chip on their shoulder and work hard attitude?

Why is Moderna not under investigation?

Moderna was one of two main companies who were awarded the government's approval for their COVID vaccine. To date, as far as I can tell from my research, that vaccine is the only drug Moderna has successfully brought to market. It is a relatively new company and certainly wasn't a competitor of the Big Pharma companies until COVID. Due to their vaccine, which was rushed to market with limited (if any) testing, the company realized BILLIONS in revenue and profits and their stock price went from just a few dollars to >$300 in a very short time.

For the first half of this year, Moderna's revenue was $400 MILLION (not billion) and their stock closed around $37/share today. They are hemorrhaging cash and their CF from Operations has been negative for several quarters now.

I believe an investigation into how this no-name company with no other drugs on the market managed to get a huge cash infusion due to COVID when Merck, Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers Squibb, et al were not is warranted. I would not be surprised if the FDA and/or NIH received tons of cash from Moderna. I would not be surprised if some Congresspeople also received kickbacks from Moderna. In my opinion, something smells to high heaven about this company and their COVID vaccine approval when they literally haven't brought one other drug to market. Oh, and their vaccine has been the one that has generally caused the most adverse reactions, also.

Shouldn't someone in our government look into this and find out if there is billions of dollars of corruption/fraud surrounding this company and the approval of its vaccine? And, if so, shouldn't several people be looking at significant jail time?

Success Stories?

I’m absolutely not holding out hope that Stoops turns this around. However, I was trying to think back if an analogous situation has ever been turned around.

I’m talking total fan animosity, losing recruits, noticeable decline in on the field product, etc. but then the ship gets righted and the program at least stabilizes, if not ascends.

I honestly can’t think of a single example, but am open to any info.

I would exclude coaches in the first three or so years, since those bad situations early on are usually out of their control

Big week of UK sports to take our minds off of the whole football thing

Men's basketball - @Clemson tonight and then Gonzaga on Saturday
Women's basketball - @UNC Thursday
Volleyball - Hosting rounds 1 and 2 of the NCAA Tournament Thursday and Friday against Cleveland St and then the winner of WKU/Minnesota

Ever since the 2020 season and the tournament run to a national championship, I've watched way more volleyball than I ever thought possible. Who knew it was so exciting? And they are currently the hottest team in the country.

FB Recruiting Couple of DB notes...

** Julian Humphrey just announced he will be going into the transfer portal from UGA and he's a big name. He started 10 games at cornerback for Georgia this year and went into the portal yesterday. Malaki Starks said the timing was crazy but Humphrey is now back on the market. He was ranked the No. 26 player in the nation from the 2022 class and is obviously a coveted transfer. I am hearing that Kentucky would love to make a serious play here, probably to compensate for the possible early departure of Maxwell Hairston. He would be a difference maker but it's early and I know a lot of schools are going to be involved. He was about to go into the portal last year.

** Kentucky was trying to get Hutchinson C.C. DB Kollin Collier in for a visit recently. They got up with him on Friday and tried to set up a trip but he told them he is locked in with TCU. He signed with TCU coming out of Memphis (Tenn.) Briarcrest Christian last season. Doesn't seem like that will be happening for UK.

Texas A&M and Duke a year later

This time last year, A&M paid a ridiculous $75M to get rid of their coach, Jimbo Fisher, who had just gone 7-6, dallied with Stoops and then hired Duke's Mike Elko.

So how did it turn out? A year later A&M ended up a whopping 8-4, a whole game better than last year, and Duke hired Manny Diaz, who had flopped at Miami, and Duke ended up 9-3 anyway under the new guy, better than last year under Elko.

Don't know why I wanted to look at this, but goes to show that blowing through a ton of money, to hire a new coach, or letting a good coach move on, is any sure fire way to improve, or a sure fire way to slide back to a bad program. If Diaz can get hired and be very successful, obviously, some other school would look at Stoops and think a change of scenery might do all parties a favor

1993/94 UK football

Everybody on this board may not be old enough to remember, but the 1993 Cars went 6-5 and went to the Peach Bowl- lost late to Clemson to finish 6-6.
Program was headed in the right direction. Opened ‘94 with an exciting win over L’ville, and people are excited. Then inexplicably the team
Lost 10 games in a row to finish 1-10. There was a great debate about trends, “1 bad year”, etc. The admin brought back Curry, and he limped along another 1 1/2 years before they pulled the plug. Safe to say it wasn’t “1 bad year”, but more of what we would see in the next 3 years (although they did get to 3 or 4 wins).
This feels EXACTLY the same. On this case, the expression of “don’t spend good money after bad” seems to fit.

Indiana is the Blue Print For What Needs To Happen For UK Football

I think a lot of college coaches are going to study what Indiana has done this season and try to implement for next season. They went out and got a lot of guys in the transfer portal who are older players, more physically and mentally mature. Heck, Mark Pope basically did the same thing for UK basketball. Some can say Indiana is playing in the Big10 but they have a lot of impressive wins. Indiana did it with hardly any NLI money as well. To me it makes a lot of sense and it is also one of the reasons BYU is always competitive in Football. They are playing with 23 and 24 year upperclassmen. Give me that all day over an 18 or 19 year old kid.

If you're smoking your Thanksgiving turkey

Then I found the secret ingredient. It's olive oil mayo. Obviously you'll want to brine it (I prefer dry brining), but you mix a half cup of the mayo with your seasoning and slather it all over and under the skin. The mayo constantly bastes the turkey during the cooking process. I did one yesterday like that for the Wife's work today and it was a major hit. What I nibbled on while carving it was out of this world. Hands down the best turkey I've ever done and the skin was nice and crispy. Give it a try sometime.
