I remember reading he was in Spain, but we had reached out. It's hard for me to believe the staff would bring in Yaxel, Alvaro, and Mgbako all at the 4 spot. I'm sure Mgbako and Alvaro could/would play some 3. But I would expect Oweh to take most of the minutes at the 3 spot. Anyways, I've been huge on Alvaro from the start. He seems like much more of a fit here than Mgbako ever would be. Maybe no news is good news idk. I remember the talk was that we could potentially add 2 pieces before the court stuff on April 7th.

The portal is a new animal that I'm still trying to adjust to. I'm not sure what to make of it yet. Seems like there is potentially more risk with highly ranked portal guys versus highly ranked HS players but I don't have the data to support that theory. Just a general observation of last year and the roster makeup of FL and Houston. Regardless, it is interesting to me that we seem to have almost relegated our FR class to an afterthought. Perhaps the modest contributions of last year's group and the departure of Cal has led us to adjust our expectations. But, seems to me that the three FR in this years class have a reasonable chance to make a significant impact next season. A skilled 7 footer, an athletic combo guard who can shoot, and a polished PG. I think these guys are going to make a very positive impact next year and, perhaps, significantly.

Always felt that Rodrick Rhodes, although a great kid, was a detriment to UK winning at the highest level while he was here. Pitino cut him loose the way that he seems to be doing with Luis. The Cats win big the next year. Can that be addition by subtraction again for Pitino?

So…I have been digging around on Mo Dioubate and I am so confused. So someone make it make sense for me.

Nate Oates is a great coach. We know that. But how the hell can he justify only paying Dioubate 16 minutes per game? I don’t get it. The kid had a PER of 24.2. That’s Junior Mark Sears good. That’s unreal. Mo shot 61% from the field, and 46% from 3. He was an elite rebounder, a solid shot blocker, and over all a menace on defense. You put that kid on UK this last year and he is Oweh on steroids. OO was a 22 PER as our best player.

Talked to a source familiar with the Oweh situation and he said “he’s staying unless he’s guaranteed a first round pick but I don’t think that happens.”

Hage thrown out at 3rd trying to go first to third on a grounder through to short right field. Again, a runner out at third. Louisville gets a two out double but then hits a routine grounder to 2nd for the out. 00 in top of the 2nd.

Against arguments:
- since there only 200 minutes to be divided most coaches prefer only 12-13 scholarships that allows 5 on 5 practice and extra players to cover injuries or penalties.
- it will cost the program more money to pay NIL to more players
- some players that don’t get to play and will get unhappy


Pro:
- it will provide nice continuation to the program by having a larger pool of players
- could allow to get allocate 2-3 spots to best Kentucky HS , with the understanding they will have time to develop , not leave the program because it’s there dream to play for the wildcats. In time they could become contributors or replaced by better Kentucky players. These guys will not cost as much.
-provide a better cover in case of injuries. Case and point , last year we had 12 scholarships but 3 of them were developmental players, 3&4 stars and injuries pilled up on the core of 9 experienced players , our team production decreased and to same degree the final accomplishments.
- going forward the players will be younger ( the COVID eligibility is gone) so they will not be as last year to be plugged and go. Having more players gives coaches
- we could use a very tempo press, in case we have 15 equally talented players, and have 3 platoons that could ware down any opposition.

Best defensive big UK has had since WCS. His overall defensive impact puts him in the same category as AD, Nerlens, and WCS. Can guard on the perimeter and switch ball screens. Great active hands and feel for the game on that end.

Best NBA prospect big since Bam. Top 5 pick potential next season, lottery at the minimum. Doesn’t turn 18 until July so he’d be a young freshman for THIS upcoming season. I loved him in HS and continue to love his game. Shot is hideous but he shoots it better than he’s shown this season.

As good as Amari was, JQ (God willing he comes back healthy) has so much more natural upside. A lot more athletic, better defender, and a great handler and passer for his size. Will dunk everything around the rim.

Should be very excited about this one, folks.
