Kentucky should leave the SEC

With expansion to 16 teams, or is it 18? No matter, Kentucky should explore leaving the conference. The addition of Texas and Oklahoma only served to kick us on down the ladder. Look at our schedule in 2024. Look at the upcoming 2025 schedule. There is no way in hell we can compete to even finished as high as 12th. We should leave the conference and create our own basketball and football schedule just like Notre Dame. It’s a pipe dream to think we will ever compete in football for the SEC Championship.

Another point I want to make. Looking at the level of athlete we are recruiting in the portal, is CMS intentionally taking the program back to the 2012 level before he leaves? It’s like he is intentionally tearing down what he built, returning the program to the basement of the SEC. We are bringing in guys from FCS schools and lower.

Big Portal Visitor!

KSR is reporting that the current #1 portal RB Ahmad Hardy will visit UK next week. Hes taking a trip to Ole Miss than UK with a decision to come likely after between those schools. I have been as down on the program as anyone but landing Hardy would be a reason to get excited. Ran for 1351 yards on 5.7 yards per carry last year and 13 TDs with Ashton Jeanty being the only RB to force more missed tackles than Hardy. As recent history has shown UK's offense NEEDS a work horse RB who can run between the tackles and get tough yards but also break runs- Benny, CRod, Ray Davis. Feels like it still will be tough to beat out Ole Miss for a kids who originally from Mississippi but if Stoops can pull it off than kudos to him!

FB Recruiting USC WR Kyron Hudson to Penn State

Was supposed to visit Kentucky. Plenty of WR options out there, but hard to land one when you don't have a QB.

I did hear that Maalik Murphy made it in for a visit and tweeted out a picture of him making it in.

Can confirm Josh Edwards' report that Alabama's Kendrick Laws, another WR, is supposed to visit Kentucky this week.

Defense ppg is #15 out of 16 in SEC

As the thread title says we're number 15 of 16. Giving up 71 points a game. Only Alabama's worse at 77.8.
Best is Orange lovers at 57 a game.
Some of that is pace of play but 71 is too high imo.
The good news:
#3 in 3 pt% defense in SEC. # 6 in overall fg% defense in SEC.

Number one in scoring by 2 points at 91 a game and number one in assists amongst SEC teams.

Question about transfers

Obviously players can transfer yearly without any issue now. What made that happen? Did the NCAA decide to do it or did the courts mandate it? Is it now possible to put any restrictions on players transferring? It would seem that after a player transfers, he should be required to stay at least two years at the school he chose to transfer to - an exception would be if both the player and the school agreed to a transfer. If not let the player sit out one year in that case - seems like it is fair and keeps players more focused on their on team rather than continously looking over the fence for greener grass. Another cavaet is that a player could leave if his NIL was reduced by more than say 10% from year to another. Just trying to get a handle on this and come up with some ideas to keep rosters a little more intact in the future than it appears to be currently.

Go Big Blue!

Malachi Moreno tonight…

I watched Moreno play tonight in a battle of #1 vs. #2 teams in the state at St X. St X won 72-58. Moreno looked very solid with about 25 points. Very unselfish with the ball or probably could have scored more. St X looked really good. They have a freshman Josh Lindsey that is going to be BIG TIME. Shooting 3’s, alley oop dunks, slashing to the rim… will or already is a star!

Mark Pope stayed at Rupp Arena

He sent the team back out after the game and joined them after the post game presser. The man stayed until every last person got an autograph.
I think he would have signed someone's dog in a stroller. It's so great to see someone do what a lot of us that love UK would do in the same position. Such a humble person which is rare in coaching.

FB Recruiting BGSU's Alex Wollschlaeger to Kentucky

He has not announced it himself, but I mentioned recently because of what I was hearing.

Hearing the same. Wollschlaeger will transfer to Kentucky. Major addition. First team All-MAC.

Two Things We Need To Improve On.....

.....before conference play starts.
Intensity
Free throws

If we can just learn to flat out bring It every night and have that killer mentality, and then when we get fouled, and we will get fouled, step up to the line and hit them at a 75% clip I really do think this team can do special things this year. But those two things have to improve before we get into this monster of a conference.
