Roster/Staff status Thread

I may be in the minority here but I have no idea who has eligibility left, who may come back for UK Football.

Is there any demand out there for a running (pinned) roster status? Players graduating, players leaving for the NFL, players transferring out, freshmen incoming, transfers incoming, staff changes, and available scholarships.

I would appreciate it but if no one else cares then don’t worry about it.

Another buyout thread - lol

I assume everyone knows that after next season the buyout will be $35 million? Yeah we should sure wait and waist another year. If the coaches leave that are being tossed around - who is going to be doing the rebuild - it seems the quality coaches are the ones leaving??? Can you rebuild in one year in a conference like the SEC? Name me one guy who has done that at a program like UK? Not talking Alabama, LSU or even Tennessee. Name one guy who has done it in a bottom half of the SEC programs? How old was this guru and what was his background before he accomplished it?

Unfortunately, don't believe Stoops can do it. I appreciate him for what he has done - but what he is charged with doing now is far harder from what he did when he came. Getting us to 6-6 or 7-5 and is not going to be considered a successful rebuild from Stoops from this fan base. Someone needs to put some reality into what Stoops is thinking and what the fans are thinking! The fans are thinking 6-6 from a new coach with a goal of 10 win seasons very quickly - that is quite different than what Stoops gave us! Of course maybe Mitch has said 6-6 is successful and encouraged that from Stoops?

Go Big Blue!

Would UCF have intrest in Stoops?

I know I might be crazy for thinking this, but
a guy can dream, right? What if Stoops took the UCF job and UK negotiated a salary offset for Stoops departure. This is a way for both sides to save face and part ways. This will probably never happen and UCF may not want to go this rought again. Malzan made it to a title game before going to UCF. Stoops has no accomplishments like that.

Where Did the “It” Factor Go . . . Two Names Spring to Mind.

The death of John Schlarman and the departure of Jon Sumrall within a few months of one-another may have been the water-shed moment that sank the confident Kentucky program of 2016-2021.

Those guys had multiple years together at Troy (under Neal Brown IIRC) and at Kentucky.

If you consider our fate since their respective departures, there is no other change I can point to that corresponds as clearly with our performances, since 2021.

Stop Blaming NIL, and Look at Recruiting Numbers:

Stoops’ 12 seasons nicely break down into three 4 year recruiting periods, and they were cumulatively ranked, nationally, on Rivals as follows:

(A) 2013-2016 . . . . . 27.25th
(B) 2017-2020 . . . . . 26.75th
(C) 2021-2024 . . . . .24.75th.

Simply put, since the advent of NIL we have marginally improved our recruiting position. And if you count the core of the 2021 transfers, along with notables, since, our transfer classes have been as well respected.

If we are terrible at NIL, then somebody is an F’n genius to have improved our recruiting numbers since NIL came into existence.

This is not a raw talent question, though one might question our O-line choices, as more than any other position, it has blown up in our faces.

Still, if we are a Top 25 average, and have successively (thru transfers), inked three QB’s who were discussed as the best available, or darn near it, Coaching comes into serious question.

Bama goes down in Vegas

Oregon gets them at the buzzer

Controversial goal tending call goes against Bama. (Not at the buzzer)

Bama blocked it, ruled goaltending, review showed a block, easily IMO…… ruled not enough evidence.

Great game to watch the last five minutes…. Both teams look like they had it won, but the other came back.

Half the top 25 lost this week, some multiple times.

Poll Monday will be crazy interesting….. but still meaningless at Thanksgiving

Clemson can get into the playoffs by winning the ACC Championship against SMU.

Will Miami drop out of the top 12?

The Big 12 champ won't even be in the top 12. 😆

Penn St vs Oregon for BIG Championship.

Texas vs UGA for SEC Championship.

SDS: Final grades for all 16 SEC teams after the 2024 regular season

I personally would have given the team a F or at most a D-@

Kentucky Wildcats: D

Grade justified: Mark Stoops’ team almost deserved huzzahs by dragging No. 1 Georgia to the deep end of the pool in a 13-12 September loss. But getting drilled by Florida and falling at home to Auburn in a brutal 4-game midseason losing streak tasted like sour milk. Getting pounded by Louisville 41-14 in the finale for the Governor’s Cup also won’t go over well in Lexington – and neither will an offense that mustered just 22.3 points per game (115th in the nation). Stoops 4-8 record is his worst since going 2-10 in Year 1.

How much would a new coach cost ?

I’m just thinking out loud here ! How much would a new coach cost as far as new contract ? I’m guessing nowhere near the ten million dollars that Mark Stoops is currently making. I’m thinking it would be some like 28 to 35 million over 5 years ? That would be 20 million or so less than current salary. Also there would be some savings on the assistants salaries. It’s not the far fetched as an idea to buy stoops out as many would think. I like Coach Stoops but I wonder how he energizes this team to create some enthusiasm for the future. I’m wondering what that looks like ? Thoughts ?
