NIL and the disappointing North Carolina State season

so it's a bit of a lose-lose for fans at a program like UK or even NC State.

If the Bama’s and UGA’s can’t stockpile players, then I think this is ultimately a benefit to UK.

Our 2021 team was largely built with NIL dollars and transfers, one of only 4 ten win seasons we’ve had.

IU, Vandy and Iowa State are all doing well, though they have never won ten games in a season.

NC State has one ten win season in its history.

But it’s definitely the Wild Wild West, now, and a crap shoot.

Brian Robinson

I've wondered about Keenum. Eli isn't exactly killing it at Center (I believe an argument could be made he's one of the worst in the starting group) and, earlier in his career, he was looked at as a cornerstone at OG. I've wondered why Keenum, if he's the heir apparent, hadn't moved Eli back to OG and taken over the C position. If C is a priority to find in the portal, this does not sound like Keenum has developed as they expected. As K-Time said, even more evidence that OL coaching has slipped significantly since Schlarman, RIP.
I’m with ya here. Seems like Eli has taken step back last 2 years.

It is hard to imagine anyone outbidding the brands in football. Plus the recruiting landscape isn’t changing. Kids in the south want to play in the south. The south has more D1 talent.

With that said it is also tied to scheduling. IU is a great example of catching the perfect schedule with a new coach. He flat killed it in the portal in all the right spots. He may not be able to replicate it over time but some years the schedule just breaks right.

A cap is coming but at the end of day NIL will always be around which the brands will be able to support at a higher level than a UK or Louisville.

I think UK football was screwed the day they expanded the conference. It would have been OK if they added 2 teams with similar resources as UK. Adding Texas and Oklahoma with all their resources-football tradition made it impossible. UK basketball will always be a top 5 program but as we have seen others are now investing in basketball making it more challenging.

Louisville on the flip side is in a conference they can financially compete in with both sports. They won’t have better rosters or teams than UK but good enough to challenge in ACC. Plus easier path to playoff. Also easier sell to boosters.

I do think the SEC and Big Ten have created monsters and if they aren’t careful they will eat themselves.

Florida will need a new coach soon

Gosh . A reasonable poster who truly believes innocent until proven guilty . It’s amazing most people mouth that phrase but immediately find the accused guilty. Good post .
Multiple woman, God knows actually how many, who Im sure have him showing his junk on their phones.
No way he gets out of this.
He is screwed as is UF basketball for the foreseeable future.
And UF it seems has known about this for months and has done zippo.
Horrible look and if they are trying to cover it up more heads will roll.
Stop being naive.

Bucket Getters

I honestly have tried and tried to understand why people keep thinking we don't have a player that can go get a bucket or why that's even necessary.

It's a team game. It's a lot more effective for the team to work together to get a basket rather than an individual.

I really think people who keep saying this haven't really thought through what that means.

Make me feel better about Tuesday night!!

Cal didn't have the reputation for choking early here, he just stopped caring about losing early season games.

I saw a quote from him saying they knew Baylor was going to throw zone at them but the team was young and he didn't want to invest the time prepping them for the zone. Ostensibly its to prepared them for March I guess.

The insane part is even if he got the team do whatever he wants them to do, they'll still lose in March.
Calipari's recent record against our main rivals (not named UofL) was bad and his record against ranked opponents was worse. Give me any current SEC coach with the talent that came through Lexington the last 6-7 years and every single one would have faired better. He was horrible.

UK moves up in both polls

Respectfully,

1. We don't have a first-round pick.
2. We don't have a go-to scorer (yet). Robinson has never been that guy, for any team he's been on. Could he become that guy this year? Sure, but that's yet to be determined over the course of his career.

That's my take. Feel free to disagree.
This is pretty much where I am at right now. Plus, this UK team may need a few more weeks to fully gel as a cohesive unit. I like what we've seen so far but the competition level takes a huge jump up on Tuesday night. If any team on our schedule is going to expose our weaknesses, it's going to be Dook (and of course Gonzaga). One thing is certain, we will know MUCH more by early Wednesday morning.

UFOs

I'm not saying that people misidentified low level B-52s & FB-111As as UFOs (the flashing lights & noise would make it obvious those were aircraft), but somebody or something might have taken notice of some very high tech electronic emissions in a very rural setting. Just idle speculation by me, so take it for what it's worth.

Yes, I always tried to steer clear of Crab Orchard!

The B-52 connection has always intrigued me. I’m not military, but B-52’s coming over for decades, flying southwest to Northeast over our farm at, maybe, 500 feet, made an impression.

I wondered decades ago if there was non-human intelligence interested in the daily flights, or if the government messed with some advanced tech along that path, just to see the psychological effect.

But the stuff I’ve heard described would put advanced drone technology to shame.

One interesting quote from the mature lady who opened up to me: she said at “around 10:00 pm, the family on the West end of the ridge would call, and say ‘they’re back.’”

There were only four houses in the seventies in the real “hotspot,” on Ky. Hwy. 78. This one-mile stretch freakishly dives down low, adjacent to a Creek that runs parallel to the highway for half the mile length. The elevation is so low, you can only see, perhaps, 100/200 yards to parallel hill crests left and right: essentially the perfect area for low-level observations or encounters without being visible to many homes.
