Zion Williamson family unhappy with Pelican franchise

Posted that on the NBA Playoffs thread, but you’re right. This calls for a thread of its own.

As per making a serious comment on the issue, this isn’t AAU anymore, Zion is a grown man, and he doesn’t need his step daddy calling Pelicans execs to complain and sewing seeds of discontent in the media.

NBA teams aren’t going to deal with mami and papi causing trouble in the locker room.

What Lavarr Ball did was in an effort to create his own celebrity, he learned to peep down a bit when he was directly harming his sons’ careers.

Zions helicopter parents aren’t trying to be celebrities, they’re being a nuisance.

It’s been what 2-3 years in the league for Puke boy and he’s already pouting? Quit crying and get your body right before you even think about calling shots off the court.
Nobody cares about Zion anymore. Once K is gone this season nobody will care about duke. K will be calling the shots in the backseat until he dies resulting in the program dying. Similar to what John Thompson was doing up until he died.

As many of us predicted, he would never be a true superstar in the nba. Yes he has several wow moments but that's it.

He's an incredible physical specimen but can only score when he can put his head down and bull his way to the hole or catch an alley oop.

He just isn't someone you can build a franchise around. He'd be a great piece for a team looking to build, but neither he nor Nike seems interested in that.

Wonder how Nike is feeling about the largest contract ever, rumored at $1,000,000,000?

This is a weird take even for our hatred of Dook. He averaged 27 ppg this year and is averaging close to 26 since he has been in the association. He needs to stay in shape, but if he can do that, he is one of the NBA's young superstars. He's 20 years old. I do think his window is smaller than others when it comes to dominance in the NBA. I think he has about 10 very good years (health playing a big factor just like every player), but when his athleticism starts to go, it will be harder for him unless he becomes an efficient shooter and I don't think that will happen.

I thought before the draft and still think to this day that Ja Morant would have the better career when it’s all said and done.

Zion is a star, and he will be a great NBA player for as long as his body holds up.

Yes, it's going great for everyone. The pelicans fires yet another head coach and their annointed super star is unhappy

IDK anymore. Morant had a shaky 2nd season that he sorta picked up when it got close to playoffs...but Zion was damn near unguardable in the second half of the season. Dude was basically putting up 30 points per game playing nearly 35 minutes a night

Kid needs to put down the donuts, get in shape where he can play more quality minutes. I would not put up with that mess. An organization that pays him that amount of money ought to be able to enforce that. It's called employment.

It's okay not to have an opinion if you haven't watched him play outside of ten games at Duke.

The guy dominated down the stretch of the season while playing big minutes. He put up a lot of "first since Shaq" or "youngest since LeBron" numbers.

Hate Duke all you want, but this is the same mismanaged franchise that AD was right to force his way free of.

When you're the face of the franchise and a bunch of idiots used their luck in getting to draft you to preserve their jobs, you get to have input. You get to be heard.

Another weird take. Pretty obvious when you don’t follow the NBA. More quality minutes? He averaged 33 minutes a game which is pretty much on par with most high profile staters. Averaged 27 and 7 and shot over 60% from the field. Also he’s 20. Pretty sure the Pelicans are pretty happy w what they got. I don’t personally care for him a ton, but let’s try to look at things somewhat objectively. He’s one of the main young stars in the league.
