WOW Bombshell! Dick Gabriel just reported.....

So is this Higgins guy reffing the SC/Gonzaga game or the NC/Oregon? If he refs the title game, and NC is in it, and SC makes it, we might as well forfeit. Been watching refs crap on Clemson for 40 years vs UNCheat and Duke. Not that I mind it since it's clemsux, but it's so obvious its almost sad. And if he refs our game Saturday, he probably hates the SEC so much we'll get hosed too.

Who is Dick Gabriel, and how would he know anything. Has the NCAA admitted to anything?

Dick Gabriel is a sportscaster for WKYT and also host Big Blue Insiders on 630 AM in Lexington. He's been around a long time. Usually, he tries to be very fair and unbiased. I heard the radio program today and he did say that the officials had someone visit them at halftime and say get your stuff right. He didn't say who it was and it was second hand information to him but one he trusted.

Back in the days before the SEC Network, he was part of the TV crew for the UK Basketball Network when our games would air on affiliates. He's been around for many years (and I'm going back to mid-90's). Trustworthy source.

If this is true, and someone did visit them to tell them to 'get your stuff right', then that applies that we able to fix it over halftime. I mean all of a sudden blindness is corrected. Which tells me it was intentional in the first half rather than being incompetent. Intentionally calling against a team ruins the entire sport, and should be immediately addressed by the NCAA and UK.

If true, that's a very significant revelation.

The NCAA came out and formally apologized to Northwestern's Chris Collins for the missed goaltend late in the game when they were making a comeback against Gonzaga. If they (NCAA) feel their officials did a poor job in the UK/ UNC game, it would be nice to get the same treatment.

I have to assume that since we haven't heard anything, and since Higgins gets the F4 assignment, they're complicit in the screw job. Probably just told him to make it a little less obvious.

This is not just something you casually mention on the radio and then move on. It indicates major corruption and reveals college basketball to be a sham. It is a huge story that must investigated, otherwise, why in the Hell should anybody follow the sport?

We've already seen the shameless corruption of UNC-CHeat, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are involved in fixing the game. But regardless, for Higgins to be allowed to ref the Final Four implicates the entire system.

I'm sick of glossing over this blatant corruption and pretending there is any honor and fairness. I'm sick of all this shit.

I feel the exact same way.

With all respect, that's what we were told after Wisconsin. I'm still not over it. What happened in that game was a travesty. And then it happened again on Sunday. The stats don't lie. I think the BBN wants to make sure it never happens again.
I'm still not over that Wisconsin loss either. I really don't believe I ever will be, to be honest. Like you said, boom it happens again. We weren't allowed to play in either of those games. ****ing ridiculous.

I'd like to see the numbers on the calls Higgins made that were favorable for us and calls he made against us. I don't have to time to go back and watch the game and go over every call he made but it'd be interesting to see. I know of at least 3 calls off the top of my head where he only blew the whistle when the outcome of the play was favorable for us. Not an extremely late whistle but late enough to see the outcome before he blows the whistle.

Hahaha, all these people that don't know who D. Gabriel is. He's one of the top, long-time media that has covered many, many aspects of UK sports for years, going back to the 80s. He would not report something unless it's legit.

He's a stand-up, first class guy AND, on a side note, an expert level martial arts master. Don't mess with Gabe !!!

We've got a Higgins Missed Calls 2005-2017 thread where we're trying to compile video and screen shots. There was a thread with Sabotage Video in the title, I don't see it anymore here. As of now, the video itself has been taken down but not before it caused a stir; http://kentuckycrazies.com/detailed-video-john-higgins-calls-kentucky-video/ preserved an edited copy. The video has the missed calls from the first half of Sunday's game. A second half video is said to be in the works.

Not knowing Dick Gabriel is a red flag for me. He was on UK broadcast for 20 years plus.

Tim Donahy...and Higgins is more crooked than him.

I feel like calling NCAA and asking them who is going to win this weekend? When they act like they don't know, well you fixed the Kentucky game.

How come Northwestern gets apologies but we do not?

That NW call was not even subjective. 1000 out of 1000 people would agree that was a goal tend.
That is not the case with our game. All of the UNC fans I've spoken to seem to think they were not given an advantage. The closest to not-objective call was the Bam goal-tend call, and even the announcers were split (I think 2 said "not" and 1 said "was").

the ncaa is a spineless organization and would only provide lip service. the only way we could make them change their mind it to hurt them in the pocketbook and well thats just not going to happen. UK would have to basically boycott playing in any NCAA games, we as fan would have to refuse to watch their broadcast, go to games, buy gear from the NCAA.

1000/1000 would be wrong.

It was basket interference not goaltending.

Learn the rules.

And learn who Dick Gabriel is.

I have never ever heard of officials reprimanded at half time by their supervisor. If that is true, I'm blown away.

Well, if it is that "easy" for the NCAA to address refs during a game----about their performance----why is there no easy way to correct those horrible calls during the course of the game? Why are the refs not subject to scrutiny by the teams or coaches during or after the game? If the NCAA has direct access to the refs during the game---then that does not put to rest any fears about the NCAA meddling in the outcome of these games.

Gosh. I wanna get over this game, but I find myself getting more frustrated. I feel like the victim of an armed robbery.

Did you just out yourself as a poser? How could a UK fan not have heard of Dick Gabriel?

You are so correct! Along with his duties at WKYT as sports director, he did sideline reporting for the games produced locally. Before SEC channel. If you don't remember or know Gabriel your a baby or a poser.

* Officials are employed by the NCAA during the tournament
* There is a Supervisor to whom they answer (gives them their assignments)
* They do answer to the Supervisor, but (in my experience) NEVER during a game (including locker-room at halftime)

Or, like happens to athletes sometimes, they simply focused more in the 2nd half. You people and your conspiracy theories are cracking me up. I mean I should be working, but I can't help but read this nonsense. It's like a Marvel show came to life and our hero is posting on message boards in an attempt to stop the evil genius.
