Of course, that depends on if coach Cal goes to the NBA.

Huggins(age 62) aggressive press not a passive press will rock Rupp.

I hope Cal retires here. I believe Cal could bring at least 2 more NCAA Championships.

Huggins is a serious alcoholic with other issues. Hell no.

Id take him. I'll be interested in seeing what Shaka can do with a few years at Texas once he gets guys for his system in there.

If coach Antigua is successful at USF I also wouldn't care to see him get a serious look in 5+ years. As I think he is one of the few with the charisma to keep recruiting close to this level and he's mentored under cal

It'd be a tough sell. I like the way he gets his kids to play, but the skeletons are just a little to daunting.

I will quote a couple famous people: Hell to the no -Madea, HHHHHhhhhhheeeeeelllllllllll No -Will Smith

Alcoholic + Medical issues + Old = can't be too far from retirement or worse *****

Never coached at an elite level school, always been at that next tier down (was true w/ Cal too though).
History of recruiting kids of questionable character, thugs
Pressing is "fun" for the fans, but in the end 'just WIN baby'.

No, I would not be happy w/ a Higgins hire.
I too am interested to see how Smart does. I think he could be THE guy.
I think Antigua would need to prove successful at a level higher than USF, unless he turned it into a Memphis type program.

Huggins? Not a chance. I don't even see how he would even crack the top 30 in a coaching search.

Huggy Bear would be fine, so would Pearl. Tons of entertainment. UK wouldnt hire either.

The problem is, as of today, there are not any Cal's out there sitting at a Memphis. I shudder to think what Barney would do if we lost Cal in the next couple of seasons.

Let's hope Cal gives us another 10 years.

Please tell me you don't work within the University of Kentucky's Athletic department with any kind of a shot at becoming the AD.

He'd probably give BCG another chance.
Realistically though I think Brad Stevens needs to be the #1 target with maybe Sean Miller #2.
There has to be someone out there that can recruit at a respectable level and is a great X's and O's coach.
Brad Stevens would kill it here though. Plus he's young.

There is only a slightly better chance of him being as there is of us rehiring Slick Rick and his traveling hoe show. If he was hired it would mean we were in serious decline for some reason.

Jeff, I dont disagree that Stevens is a great coach.

That said he is doing well and a very hot coaching prospect in the NBA.

He has said that IU was his dream school growing up.

Doubt he would come to us, or any other college including IU.

Sean is the logical choice, however...

No FF's with a bunch of talent and a rep as being hard to get along with.

Why would he ever leave UA? No recruiting competition and not nearly the pressure of a UK.

We could get Huggy for half of Cal's pay and a six pack or Pearl for a couple million if a huge grill was thrown in. In all honesty both guys are very decent coaches, our fans dismiss coaching ability due to disliking personalities too much.

Although these two have too much baggage for UK,

I will always support Kentucky basketball. But I'd be frickin pissed if they hired Bob Huggins. I can't stand the guy.

A couple Mill and a huge grill to get Pearl. I think even BP himself would laugh at that.

Personally.. if we're going to scrape the barrel.. I'd rather see Bruce Pearl than Bob Huggins.

i don't think i would agree with you on a whole lot

it would be a terrible hire, but i find huggins entertaining. and i think it's telling that wvu was the only uk opponent last year that kinda got screwed by the refs--he's the only coach those egomaniacs hate as much as cal. i like the "if i'm going to be miserable i might as well be comfortable" sideline windbreaker as well

pearl makes me sick to my stomach on every level. a lying snitch attention whore hypocrite whose teams play like they're in an aau tournament

No flipping way. He's an ass and way over rated. 1 final 4 in about 30 years or whatever.

yeah we didnt learn anything from the last alcoholic ... errr 2 that we've had as coach huh? Yep lets get another one on board and this time I bet 3 times a charm

besides..... as Matt Jones once pointed out on his radio show..... our pattern is ... good coach , Drunk coach, HOF elite coach... in that order.

I'm not sure he would hold up well under the glare found in our program. Oddly enough, I think being a good coach isn't quite the prerequisite. Dealing with the publicity and constant hounding of the fanbase is likely the most difficult part.

That said, Huggins likes to play rough. That would serve him well in the SEC.

No. IMHO, Huggins is a much better basketball coach than Calipari, but Huggins just has way too much non-coaching baggage .
