How many of the league coaches will survive the hiring frenzy that is undoubtedly going to occur this offseason? I could even see the NBA come calling for a few coaches like Golden or even Oats.
Maybe a bigger question is this: do we want that to happen? Do we want to return to the days of a weaker SEC where UK can monopolize more of the recruiting market, particularly in the new NIL wild west?
I'm personally of the persuasion that a weaker SEC if better for Kentucky in the long run. That was certainly the case in the 1990s and even during Calipari's best seasons here.
Even if it's a three to four team show in the SEC, that will be fine. That's how it was when Donovan was elite at Florida, and Richardson at Arkansas. The rest of the conference can be cannon fodder.
