Well, he would need Elly de la Cruz to bat .400, with 100 homers, and 200 stolen bases before he stops demanding his demotion to AAA.I guess Sumrall needs to go 15-0 at Ohio State before Cole854 would sign off on him to come to KY
In three full seasons Sumrall is 24-2 in October, Nov and December.
And Scott Frost was a flash in the pan offensive coach. Sumrall is not thatNo way to know that. There has been no bigger flop of a hot coach who was going to save his alma mater. Scott Frost was coming off and undefeated season, claiming a NC and the savior of Nebraska football and was a disaster.
So you want to stay, with a deadbeat coach, that can t coach that makes a hell of alot sense . I will take my chances with sumrall .No one is saying stay with Stoops, it's the expectations getting put on a possible new coach who has never been the man in charge of a P4 program. He may very well go 11-1 every year, but there is also the possibility of 5-7 every year. Coaching against failed P4 coaches who went down a level is different than coaching against successful p4 coaches. Sumerall checks all the boxes, but no one is a sure thing. And there are more teams fighting for playoff spots than the SEC will get.
If I was a Georgia fan, which he is, I'd absolutely vouch for an opponent to keep a 0 and 12 coach against my team.So you want to stay, with a deadbeat coach, that can t coach that makes a hell of alot sense . I will take my chances with sumrall .

Hire Sumrall as head coach & he could bring in former wildcat Neal Brown who is now available to be our offensive coordinator. Sounds good to me.
This guy seems to insinuate Kentucky is jon sumrall's dream job
HEY MITCH THANKS
And Scott Frost was a flash in the pan offensive coach. Sumrall is not that
Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but the difference with Sumrall is his defensive background with the understanding that you have to have offense too. Previous flops, Frost, Fuentas, Malzahn, etc were O guys first and foremost that failed on the D side. (I'm not sold on Chumlee, ask back in a couple of years. They've been extremely fortunate the past couple of years thanks in large part to an unbelievably favorite schedule. That luck is bound to end at some point). Anyway, Sumrall's D could make a difference.Maybe he was but his team improved until he went to a P5 school. Sumrall to UK is great if that's what is decided. But a ton of difference coaching against whatever conference Troy and Tulane are in than the SEC. But there are precedents each way, Frost as a negative and Chumlee at UT as a positive. Looks like Napier is getting another year, which surprised me is going to get things turned. I have said multiple times I think Sumrall checks all the boxes and looks to be a low risk guy, but getting in the playoff the first couple of years is a tall order in the SEC because of the amount of NIL some schools can produce. Recruiting has gotten away from relationships and development to how much you going to give me. Pre NIL Kirby was best recruiter in college ball, but without NIL we won't break top 50. At least 6 teams in SEC are spending 20m+ NIL, Texas, ATM, Bama, AU, UT, UGA, UF, OM. If a team isn't prepared to jump into that NIL bracket a playoff spot isn't likely with Nick Saban as your coach and the big reason he retired. UK is my number 2 team, I want them to be successful, being excited about the season is great, but any new coach entering the SEC is entering a meat grinder.
Expectations set that have small chance to be met aren't good for anyone. Just look at BV, expectations were through the roof because he is a former 5* from UGA,
If you dont get Sumrall now you never will and he will be in the playoff year in and year out were ever he goes
Believe it or not, Frost was a Defensive Coordinator on a team that made the FCS playoff semifinals before he moved to coaching the offensive side of the ball at Oregon.Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but the difference with Sumrall is his defensive background with the understanding that you have to have offense too. Big, raw boned boy. Seems I recall Frost running rough-shod over TN in a Cotton Bowl or some such.Believe it or not, Frost was a Defensive Coordinator on a team that made the FCS playoff semifinals before he moved to coaching the offensive side of the ball at Oregon.

I agree with this. 👍I still think if the right opportunity presented itself in the next few days Stoops will be gone.

Exactly, he may be a great coach one day. Right now he’s unproven on the level of SEC bottom feeder school. We've seen the "latest and greatest" so called gurus come and fail here.....Ray, Curry, Mumme, Claiborne. Brooks brought stability, but he didn't accomplish anything special anywhere. Sumrall is the new hot name, but you at least have to check off a more tenured and accomplished name that has seen this level of competition on a consistent basis.
Exactly if I was a high paying booster I wouldn’t want my millions going to have to pay for a joke like Stoops to go away. If I had to front that kind of money my next thing in line would be to make sure Mitch didn’t have a job! It’s not the boosters problem that we have a foolish athletic director.
I also said that in another thread Brown would thrive under Sumrall. Brown didn’t thrive under Stoops because well neither has the other 6 offensive coordinators!Hire Sumrall as head coach & he could bring in former wildcat Neal Brown who is now available to be our offensive coordinator. Damn you're moving way up the bench with this post kywildcat you're now in my top 5 posters great job 👍Exactly if I was a high paying booster I wouldn’t want my millions going to have to pay for a joke like Stoops to go away. Man I’m so pissed right now…. I’m about the same way I was at the end of the Cal tenure. These contracts are just insane and I can’t believe they keep signing these coaches to these ridiculous contracts and then they just quit working after they get them! It’s like Mitch never learns his damn lesson! He just keeps signing away any damn leverage the school can have!Damn you're moving way up the bench with this post kywildcat you're now in my top 5 posters great job 👍

I think most of us didn't know he was a raggin alcoholic when he was hired.Exactly, he may be a great coach one day. Right now he’s unproven on the level of SEC bottom feeder school.
Another hot trendy pick that UK fans must’ve already forgot about was BILLY CLYDE GILLESPIE.
He was the best of the best and the HOT coach.
We saw what happened
Some people keep saying we need a proven coach. Who do you have in mind that would come to UK?Exactly, he may be a great coach one day. Right now he’s unproven on the level of SEC bottom feeder school.

That the attitude of many on here who a Stoops turn around is a 7 win season. So we stay with a coach that let's his players run amuck and has the program now in the same state that he inherited . That's really asinine
Wake up. 9 000 000 a year gets a lot of attention. Some people keep saying we need a proven coach. Who do you have in mind that would come to UK?
The two programs that we have really compared ourselves to in conference in recent years are Mizzou and USC. Both those teams just went 9-3 with a coach that came from Appalachian State and another who was the TE coach at Oklahoma…that’s pretty unproven.

I’m not saying that at all. Some people keep talking about wanting a proven coach and that guys without experience aren’t made for this job. I just gave a couple examples of guys with no major coaching experience having success. There are a lot more. There are also examples of guys failing.Beamer is a clown, he is 9-3 because he lucked into the most dangerous young QB in the SEC. Would you really want beamer as your coach?
All I ever ask is for examples. Give me examples of proven guys at the P4 level that would come here. Every time I ask for examples, I never get any.Wake up. 9 000 000 a year gets a lot of attention.
Mitch knows about the Stoops off field antics. He is sick of it and now pile on the losing… you are right, it’s a money decision and only a money decision now.As stated a thousand times, UK can't fire stoops and pay him 44 mil. On top of that, I don't think Mitch even would anyway or even wants to. To him he sees "just one bad year". Sumrall is gonna get another job in a couple months most likely. If you're a Kentucky fan you want to root for him to go to a place on par or lesser than UK so we can still pull him from there when the time comes. Thank goodness Florida stuck with their guy and Florida state will do the same because if JS ends up at a place like that then Kentucky probably ain't getting him away.
What antics?Mitch knows about the Stoops off field antics. He is sick of it and now pile on the losing… you are right, it’s a money decision and only a money decision now.
Our president does not seem to care about sports except basketball. I can't understand how basketball can receive more school support than football at any school in AMERICA. Basketball is a second tier sport. I know Kentucky lovs basketball but it is still a second tier sport. Football pays for everything.Mitch is sacrificing the success of the program just to attempt to save face. Where is the President?
True but UK is one of a few where basketball is self sustainable and pays its own way it doesn’t need football. Tell you what needs football is all the other sports! I’m not knocking football because I love UK in all sports! Our president does not seem to care about sports except basketball. You answered that question for me, you compared us to Mizzo and USC which is fair. Some people keep saying we need a proven coach. Who do you have in mind that would come to UK?
