Will Jeff Brohm Make Louisville A Winner?

36-34 in the crappy side of the Big 10, he will do marginally better in the ACC and whatever conference of leftovers they end up in.
Brohm at Louisville could get the same results as Heupel has done at Tennessee. While Louisville on paper doesn't have the same talent as Tennessee did, he will be recruiting and bringing players that are different that what U of L had on the roster. Tennessee sure did a number on UK the last couple of years with an air raid offense. So, don't be surprised if U of L wins 8 plus games this year and year two could be interesting. Brohm will do one thing Petrino did - be practicing and developing a plan for UK all year!

Go Big Blue!

Not sure ACC is all that bad. Clemson, FSU, UNC, NCSt all should be pretty good or better. The bottom of the conference sure isn't much to write home about. UofL will probably be bowl eligible this year mainly because, iirc, they don't play any/many of the expected top ACC teams this year. Their OOC schedule is generally pretty bad outside of UK. On paper, we should be superior to them in just about every position group but we'll see.

I don't see how UofL (and, by extension, the ACC) can be much more than a middling program as they don't have access to the revenue the SEC and B10 does. Unless an ACC team makes the playoff and looks like it could do so every year, I don't think that conference moves the needle nationwide for interest. Once TX and OK come to the SEC, the B12 won't, either. Pac12 better have a contender soon as their spotlight program (USC) leaves in another year or so. They've been pretty irrelevant recently, anyway, and without a true NC contender this year or next, they may sink into oblivion.

Has been a .500 coach in P5, that will likely continue.

I dunno. The ACC is reallyyyyyyyyyy bad.

Agree with both. He won't make a leap but he's in a worse conference.

Imo he will get an upset here and there but also lose to teams he shouldn't. Other than fan loyalty, he isn't an upgrade.

The irony is satt, while still being trounced by UK, was building ul into a nice acc program. He was really getting their OL and wide zone run game in order, which is a very solid foundation. Had a big play defensive coordinator in place.

So UL fans stuck with him when his firing would've been justifiable then bailed on him when he was really building a solid foundation for moving upwards. Hilarious

He’s a better coach than Satt. He’ll also give them continuity cause I think he’ll be there a while which helps programs a lot. That said being in the ACC is a disadvantage if he wants to compete on the big stage.

He’s proven with elite talent (Rondale Moore) he outperforms his recruiting rankings. Also, his best Purdue teams also featured his best defenses. When his defenses were bad his teams put up bad records.

…but will he be able to get players at UofL? I think he’ll have a lot of 7-5 seasons, and a few 9-3/6-6 seasons sprinkles in. I don’t think he’ll win the ACC or field more than one Top 10 team.

He will be owned by UK for the foreseeable future

The ACC is bad and he's a better coach than Satterthorpe. So yes, they will win more than they lose. Have you seen their schedule this year??? Total joke. No Clemson, no UNC, no FSU, no Wake. IT's like ACC Jesus is sleeping with Jeff Broom.

Will they be winning titles r anything like that? No, of course not.

I expect them to fare better against UK than Satterthorpe did, but we'll still win the majority of games against them. We are a better program with more resources than they have.

I think he’ll do well there. We certainly won’t be beating them 40-0. They’ll put up points once he gets his players.

They don't have to win the natty. They don't have to play tough teams to be in the conversation. Espin and the rest just want shock, talking points, so they will by all means promote an undefeated (and unchallenged) ACC team REGARDLESS of schedule over a 2 loss SEC program that would stomp them into puddle head to head.

In all likelihood, an SEC team like that and that might finish 3 plays from perfect will not be pushed ahead of even a one loss (stomped by UK) UL team.

Or just more of the Scott Satterfield garbage? That’s what I think
Satterfield is a capable coach. Otherwise UC would not have hired him. UC has a history of good football coaches. They don't hire beginners up there. Satterfield got himself into a bad situation in Louisville. Now Brohm has to make it work in that same bad situation. I expect Brohm to be a little bit better recruiter and a marginally better coach. UL will still be a middle of the road ACC team. I do not understand the fear that some of our fans have toward Brohm. If he was a miracle worker, he would not be in Louisville.

The only reason Louisville threw millions at Brohm because they are desperate to beat UK
Bobby Petrino could do it but he had lousy
morals like many Louisville coaches
Hopefully Brohm has good behavior we shall see

Doesn`t he run the same, basic, offense as Mike Leach did at Mississippi State? He`d rather pass for 5 yards, rather then running the ball and on occasion he`ll throw it deep.
No dude

Brohm is from the Petrino offensive scheme tree, not the Mumme/Leach air raid system tree. Petrino is pro style, power runs without the wide offensive line splits typical of Leach disciples. Brohm has a good balance between the run & pass, hence why Purdue was effective against Big 10 Ds.

Good response JHB. [winking]

I think you’re giving UC too much credit here. They’ve had some good coaches, but the guy who hired Satterfield didn’t hire Fickell. I don’t think he’s terrible but no idea why another program would target him.

Brohm is a great offensive coach.
Don't underestimate him winning big in the ACC.

He has already accomplished something that CMS has been unable to do.

He beat Josh Heupel and the mighty Vols in Nashville.

It takes defense AND a prolific offense to win high level football games in this era. CMS found that out the hard way last season.

He will always have a schedule that fluctuates between favorable and a downright cakewalk. He’ll have playing time to offer initially especially in the trenches . He has shown he is going to prioritize recruiting locally more. Probably going to take kids we may be cautious on because of size, speed or past injury. If Adidas and Dr. Bizer are willing to dump enough money in the nil trough, who knows what may happen?
