Who Would You Replace Stoops With?

Good choices except for Bobo, who bombed as a HC at Colorado St. DeBoer would be making a less than lateral move to come here, though.
Bobo probably a UGA lifer. Played there and most of his coaching is there.

I'm okay with a guy bombing somewhere, especially an OC with the resume of production and NFL talent that he has. He's recruited, developed, and coached some of the most prolific individual talent and overall offenses in the SEC and country.

DeBoer is a stretch and will be on the short list of many CFB and NFL openings but 10-12 million a year, which is what CMS will be making in another year or two anyway, SEC... could at least get an interview.

I'll play along. If you're going the coordinator route, I'd take a look at Garrett Riley, Ryan Grubb, Brian Hartline and Tommy Rees. All 4 OC's, relatively young and success at big programs. If you're going the HC route, I'd take a look at Mike Elko or Jon Sumrall (although his offensive philosophy scares me).

My thing is there just doesn't seem to be anyone out there that screams upgrade that would come to UK.
I agree.

Plus, nobody talks about the longevity. If the new guy goes 4-8 per year and gets fired, UK will be right back in the basement where they’ve been for the better part of a century. If a new guy comes in, wins well, but leaves after a few years we could crash down to the basement with the next guy. The only thing that can change the perception of UK’s history is winning over a long period of time. Stoops has started to change it after a decade, but we’re far from safe from our dreadful past.

There’s zero reason we should “settle” for stoops.

Not going to claim Bobo was a great head coach, but he is an elite recruiter, and has developed some good QBs in his career. His biggest mistake as a head coach was hiring of his assistants. But that is a huge part of being a head coach. I doubt an SEC head coaching job is in his future

Was just curious, know he is very well thought of by UK fanbase. But seems to fall into the same catagory as Sam Pittman. Career assistant, older coach, no coordinator experience, elite recruiter. Had a good year or two at Arkansas, but appears to have run it's coarse and they are looking to get a new one.
Yeah. Marrow is fantastic. Good guy. Cares about the kids and that translates into a great recruiter. I simply cannot fathom what he would do as a recruiter at Michigan or OSU or Georgia (keep your hands off our coach, LOL) , but not sure he is your best on the field coach.

frankly I think Stoops does a great job as a field coach, but he doesnt seem to love the recruiting side. Not sure I’ve heard him play a significant role in any recruitment. Not for awhile.

But that is one of the reasons they have been successful. They make each other better, and there is a genuine and mutual respect and love there. They are like best friend or even brothers. Very special in this day and age of sports. I admire that. Know your strengths, know your role, do your job and help your teammate.

To advocate for Stoops removal you would have to be a fool in my honest opinion. I just can’t see the probability of replacing both of those guys and improving as larger than continuing our path. Look we haven’t won the big games, and some has been luck and some bad play. No doubt, but they are giving us a punchers chance every year. Sometimes we’ve struck out, but we’ve set a new highs too. Maybe it wont come, but a few catches here or there and it could have been this year and we still have 5 to play.

Far more good than bad that I have had most of my Kentucky football fan life. Been some interesting stuff in that time…I know these aren’t your thoughts at all….just sayin

and to answer the original question Id take Kirby Smart (Gimme your coach!!! LOL)

Good Luck and Go Dawgs! (Till we beat you next year 🤓)
