Who is our next OC?

Not sure who, but I bet it is announced this weekend. A national CFB guy like Bruce Feldman or Andy Staples will say "Kentucky intends to hire...." on Twitter Saturday.

Again, that state mandated waiting period doesn't end until Mon, Feb 12. I don't expect anything prior to that date, maybe even later.

Apparently I don't keep track of these things as you do, but I thought the rumors always leaked out prior to the 10 day period ending.

My man.....you & all of us just watched 3 weeks ago UK 'hire' Eric Wolford....via media reports.

BEFORE YENSER WAS EVEN FIRED

I stick with my prediction. Media will announce our OC hiring, and won't be beholden to state law timetable.

True that but we're talking about the KY sports media here. They're currently hung up on Big Z and Reed and DJ and Rob and, and, and.....to give us any real, meaningful football news.

I betting it’ll happen this weekend as well, then it’s official on Monday. Believe it will be Faulkner otherwise Johns name, who’s currently unemployed AFAIK. would be gaining more traction. Could be Hamden but doubtful since he just plucked a fine 23 QB from the portal to BSU.

hehe

Told y'all how it would shake out. Just failed to not predict Thamel delivering the goods.

No backfill on staff. Who is available this late ? Some washed up re-tread? Last thing we need.

It's Bush Hamdan from Boise St. Let's give him a fair chance. And, to the few posters who have misled the board on this, let's cut out the blatant misinformation about Stoops not being prepared for the search.

Hamdan is 37 years old. On paper, Hamdan is an interesting choice. He was a QB at Boise St and has had Power 5 coaching stops at CO, MD, WA, MO, and FL. In addition to Boise St, he was previously OC at AR St, Davidson, and WA. He was a QB coach for the Atlanta Falcons under Dan Quinn. Hamdan had significant prior Power 5 recruiting success at MO that suggests he will be prepared to handle his recruiting responsibilities at UK.

People can say whatever they want, but this looks like a significant step forward to me.

Totally agree but you know as well as I that people are just waiting to pounce with some kind of half-assed negativity regardless of who is chosen.

I like the deceptive part with Hamden. If we can't raise our recruiting classes much more we need all that we can get. Bad part is how good not only the players are in this league but the coaches also. They can usually adjust and a lot of times have good enough players to just play straight up if they have to. So much of it will be if we can get in the teens regularly with our recruiting classes to close that gap some to give the coaches a better chance against the best teams.

I'm not worried about recruiting. Stoops and the Big fella can recruit. Eddie Gran can even recruit, RBs at least. Overall talent/depth hasn't really been the key issue under Stoops. Those two things he's actually improved greatly.

We need a play designer and caller. Specifically passing game. We need somebody who can coach to score on game day. Who can develop skill positions, again specifically passing game skill players, within whatever system he runs.

We're not going to get much better in recruiting. We need somebody who can be productive with what he's got and going to haul in going forward.

It's actually good, not bad, that the SEC is strong and the coaches and players are good. That's called quality and prestige. Strive to be the best. I certainly agree with you that our coaching staff has to push hard to get better and better as a recruiting entity, and that's why Stoops and Barnhart keep hiring coaches who can recruit. Since recruiting classes really can't be assessed accurately until several seasons after they sign, I don't care about online class rankings. I care about effectiveness. A big part of effectiveness is development, and a big part of development is continuity. I'm just hoping Hamdan sticks around a while. But our fans have to educate themselves and understand that the senior-most offensive coordinators in the SEC right now have been in their positions for 2 years. This is the reality. It isn't a case of Stoops not giving enough control (Coen totally killed that false narrative). When you have good coaches, other teams want them.

Eddie Gran cannot recruit because he is employed in a non-recruiting job. Personally, I thought recruiting was an overrated part of Gran's skill set, while his abilities as a RB position coach were badly underrated. But that is water under the bridge. In terms of recruiting, I think it hurt a lot to lose Jon Sumrall. Obviously the Big Dog is our lead recruiter, but White, Collins, and Coach Mike are effective too.

I think Stewart, Wolford, Shorts, and Boulware will prove they are effective recruiters. Hopefully Hamdan will be too.

If Coach Buffano can open up St Louis for us, that would be fantastic.

I hope to heck Hamdan, or whomever, does well. But I always get a kick out of the crowd that acts like fans are stupid for going ‘what is this?’ after 12 seasons of proof. And I will never forget how smart and genius we were told Scangarello is. So smart the rest of us can’t understand him.

GD'it.... I had already forgotten about Scang and you brought him up. Arghh! LOL.

We shouldn't judge hires until there is actually something to assess. Having hope for Scan was not wrong or evil. All of us (well, most of us anyway) would have been happier if the Scan hire worked. Scan was qualified on paper but didn't have the interpersonal skills for this particular job. Coen has the interpersonal skills but also has a bee in his bonnet. All SEC coaches have to make hires and manage their staffs.
Not just Stoops. Hamdan will either succeed or else he won't, but let's wait for some evidence. On paper, he is well-qualified. I would even suggest he is more qualified on paper than either Scan or Coen. If anyone doesn't believe that, google him and see for yourself.

Absolutely…I’m not judging and I absolutely wouldn’t ever be positive or believe the grandeur about it either. I am neither positive nor negative. But I’m certainly not positive with the history of what we’ve seen.

GET THE BEST RECRUITER...Period. The Xs and Os will take care of themselves if we have the Jimmys and Joes
Someone that can think outside the box. The best defenses are in the SEC so go ice cream offense you will be lucky to win 5 games.
