NBA boundPhilon from Bama, maybe ???
Thanks … I didn’t know that.NBA bound
Especially on D.Back ups
I know Jasper is . He's also a freshman and will have some slow games
IDK that JJ will be better than Chandler next season. Players improve
How many players did we have on our roster on April 15 2024?This fan base panics far more than anything I’ve ever seen. I get it, it sucks missing out on Wilkerson. We will find someone who fits in with Kentucky. We can’t panic and end up making a bad decision here.
Nah man, you're prone to frequent, embarrassing emotional outbursts on a public forum. You have a well earned reputation. If you can't take that, stop melting down in public all the damn time. How weird and creepy a stalker are you? Seriously man, get a freaking life. Insane
Who?I’d be broken up about this is basketball players didn’t have to play both offense AND defense. In reality I think we have multiple guards better than Wilkerson next year.
Kerr is not a starting PG for any team with even sweet 16 hopes, much less NC aspirations! What an idiotic post.Argument Kentucky will have the best front court in college but out front court was pretty ****ing awesome last season. All our issues were at guard and we are trending that way again. Krissa transferring was silly. If he showed some patients. Hed 100 percent be starting guard at this point.
He is not a 1st or 2nd string. He is 12th or 13th guy on the roster. I would much rather have Hawthorne.Should have got the Green kid from Holy Cross
He is not Rex. But, he lets ppl believe that he is.What do you know, Rex?
Exactly. Williams is the only proven shooter, at this level, on the team. We need at least one more knockdown shooter. Maybe if Pope’s offense wasn’t so reliant on 3s it wouldn’t be such a high priority. But, if the goal is to get up 35 threes/game, you need 2-3 legit shooters, minimum. To have the best chance to win the championship we do not have the top shooters needed when the defense crams the inside. Lowe is not a proven shooter yet. Oweh is streaky. Perry is streaky and short on the defensive end. Chandler had 3 or 4 good shooting games, will he be consistent every game? Noah off and on. Williams is suppose to be really good shooter, will he be on this level?
So who is the shooter on the roster we can right now count on to be consistent and effective all season? We need a bell cow in the shooting department if we are dead serious on winning the championship. Maybe two if you realize the one guy can go down hurt for the season.
We don’t know that we couldn’t afford him. The staff might have just not valued him at that price.
Ian Jackson made 60 threes last year at a 39.5% clip in a terrible UNC offense. I would think his numbers would improve here.
I get it. We started this season with a rotation of 10, and then had multiple injuries and had a freshmen who had never played point doing so for us. I understand why the coach - or certainly, the fans - would want an 11th guy. But from a player's perspective, how do you get someone else to come? Or, if they do come, what is the risk of someone already here leaving? if it's 1972 or 1993 or even 2014, you got a decent chance of no one transferring. but those days are over. I just don't know how we get someone else to come when we already have 10. But I'm not the coach....To play devil's advocate; if you're a coach, you figure you need to win a game with one guy out hurt, one guy in foul trouble, and another guy playing at 75% healthy. IDK, just spit balling.
Really? I don't understand that. I've been away for several years (too much drama), so I've not seen this firsthand, just don't get it.Indeed. It’s hilarious how blatantly JFC’s tone flipped after the coaching change.
With Cal he was the Baghdad Bob optimist always telling us how good things were …even when they clearly weren’t. But now with Pope he’s become the Chicken Little pessimist always telling us how the sky is falling.
Pope’s last offense at BYU was second in points in the Big 12, while being sixth in conference play with 33% three point shooting on 31 attempts per game. They led the league in two point percentage. All while not being very athletic and having zero guys shooting 40% on more than one attempt per game.He is not Rex. But, he lets ppl believe that he is.

Maybe Jasper lights it up from day 1. Maybe Chandler picks up where he left off. But, we can’t bank on that. I fear next season will end similarly to 2010 if we don’t add a consistent shooter, or, 2. Otherwise, I really like the roster, so far. I think we have a top 10 team, right now. But, to take that next step up to title contender, we have to upgrade the shooting, IMO.
Love Rodney Rice. Watched him today. Like Jackson. Oweh declared. I would go after one or both. Jackson would kill under pope. Panty of talent still there. Watcher Luis quit on Rick. No. Take a look at Rodney. We got two wing players I love. Noah and chandler. We will be fineCade Tyson

Ian Jackson come on down.We need additional shooter/scorer to pair with lowe and oweh
So who will be next one we should pursue?
How many NCAAT games did that BYU team win? I don’t want what you described, at all. Didn’t mean to infer that, if that’s how you took it. Like I said, I think we have a top 10 roster, right now. But, I want to win a championship, not just rank highly in various categories.Pope’s last offense at BYU was second in points in the Big 12, while being sixth in conference play with 33% three point shooting on 31 attempts per game. I’d much rather have a team that shoots 35% from three and plays defense than a team that shoots 40% and doesn’t. We are the former.
We don’t know if he is or isn’t a 1st or 2nd stringer but we do know he looked good in the Patriot league and was Freshman of the year. I would have liked to have both actually. He is not a 1st or 2nd string. He is 12th or 13th guy on the roster. I would much rather have Hawthorne.
Nice find, man!Has anyone heard if we’re looking at Chaikin ??

After seeing the Hoops Summit I’m not sure at all that Jasper is better than Chandler. He looked awful. Damn near unplayable and looked like he didn’t belong on the floor with the other guys. Why ? Jasper is better than them.
100% this. Pope had THREE chances to land his big scorer/big shooter with Yates/Pierre/Wilkerson and wiffed on all 3. When you’re ONE guy away from being a legit title contender you absolutely can’t miss on 3 guys like that. Overpay, do whatever you have to do to get one here. There’s nobody left that can do what those 3, especially Wilkerson can do. Ian Jackson has good potential but isn’t the perfect fit like Wilkerson would have been.Nobody out there right now that is a difference maker.
Portal closes next week. Pope better pray someone significant enters
Wilkerson is much better than Brea and would have been a better player here. He would have been Robinson if Robinson actually shot a high percentage on a large volume from 3. Plus a better athlete. Not taking a swipe at you OP, but was Wilkerson a big fish before we set our sights on him? I feel like UK fans fall in love with possibilities, create rosters in their heads, and over hype potential Cats. I think Wilkerson would have been solid in the Brea role, but there are other players out there who can do that too.
Why was Cade Tyson so bad last season? Gotta be a reason for that?He was terrible last season.
Have trouble seeing Jackson being ok with being a cog in the wheel don’t you?Graf said UK is trying to get involved with Jackson. Would be a huge get!
Yeah I don’t see it.Have trouble seeing Jackson being ok with being a cog in the wheel don’t you?
Maybe he didn’t think he was worth that kinda money, Jackson surely is.If we couldn't afford Wilkerson we surely cant afford Jackson.
We need a shooter. As another poster said, it will have to be someone not yet in the portal. Jmo
He would be a starting 2 guard.Have trouble seeing Jackson being ok with being a cog in the wheel don’t you?
Kentucky gets 3 seed lol."We are going to struggle to make the tourney. Have to get to 19 wins to feel comfortable and I don’t see where 4 more wins are coming from."
That's you on February 4 of this year, just in case anyone was wondering how seriously to take you. You are either a fake Kentucky fan or maybe the most easily panicked one in program history.
1. Oweh is currently in the draft so now is a good time to get another guard then after the portal closes Oweh comes back and we have depth.Guards/wings:
Chandler
Oweh
Williams
Jasper
Lowe
Bigs:
Garrison'
JQ
Moreno
Mo D
Jelavic
That's 10 people who expect to play. We talked them into either coming or staying. None of them expect to sit, all of them will or should be in the rotation. How do you play 11 guys? I don't think I've ever seen it.
Pay him and he had a starting spot.Have trouble seeing Jackson being ok with being a cog in the wheel don’t you?
I’m not against it. It’s hard for me to see him agreeing to be another person in the offense. We will seePay him and he had a starting spot.
In my opinion, you cannot say we need to add a shooter or two in order to win a title. Every player plays both offense and defense, and three point shooting is only one aspect of offense. You have to consider the whole player. How many NCAAT games did that BYU team win? I don’t want what you described, at all. Didn’t mean to infer that, if that’s how you took it. Like I said, I think we have a top 10 roster, right now. But, I want to win a championship, not just rank highly in various categories.
I agree that we should be good, defensively. Good enough to win a championship if the offense holds up its end, IMO. Maybe we can hit 35% with the current personnel. I’d be happy with that, too. I never said I want 40% as a team.
But, I’m not sure that we’re a 35% team, right now. I’m just not sold, there. We have a few guys who could shoot anywhere from 35-40+% to 30% & below. I just can’t trust that. I’d rather be sure & add a high quality shooter, or, 2. I, honestly, think we’re only a piece or 2 away from being a favorite to win it all. I just want to maximize that possibility & not leave it to chance.
