Dioubate, Williams, Chandler, and Jelavic will have moments, but won’t be as consistent.

I agree with this analysis, though there’s something about Kam and Andrija that absolutely intrigue me. Kam will initially be our defensive specialist along with JQ. But I think offensively his potential is off the charts. Andrija will spread the floor. Imagine oweh at point, Wilkerson at the two and Kam at the 3 and Andrija at the 4. He opens the floor up for the other 3 to slash toward the goal. That’s scary to me

If Lowe and Wilkerson (assumed) are not the best guards, we're in for a rough season, imho.

I dont debate them starting, only that JJ and Chandler may surprise and demand more minutes than projected.

These guys aren't coming here to not start.

It's a great problem to have honestly.

I hope they understand that we want them here all 4 years. They are to develop and play when called upon. By their junior and senior year they could be a stable piece to a title run. Similar to Padgett and Sheppard.

I'm thinking a modified platoon system, with a constant press. So it biases my minutes per player. PLTN C would exist for extra energy and substitutions.

Jelavic has to prove a lot to me. I want to see him in college before I anoint him a difference maker. I guess after hearing how good Ivisic was going to be in college, I am a bit leery of European players. Ivisic was projected to be heading to the NBA as soon as he arrived, and now he’s a Junior in college. So all this talk about him being a NBA draft pick after a year doesn’t impress me. I need to see him in action against college competition. He was just 32% from 3 last season. That’s barely better than Garrison. Stats wise, Dioubate sounds like he’s more of a defense stretcher than Jelavic.

I hope Jelavic shoots lights out, but I want to see that happen and I also want to see him defend in the SEC. That’s what gets most of these Euro guys. That adjustment is what I am watching very closely and is why I have Jelavic’s minutes limited. I just wonder if he can have a huge impact right off the bat.

Seems pretty clear that Pope is recruiting teams like he is for a reason. 10+ deep. His rotation will shorten, a bit, but he's definitely practicing what he preaches on using a deeper rotation and maximizing efficiency with subs.

He's not used to sitting, so it will be interesting to see how he fits into rotations. He was our first portal commitment, fwiw.

yeah, aware but the math is not great for the second tier guys. 120 minutes for the perimeter. Easy to assume Lowe, Oweh, and Wilkerson avg 25 each at least. That leaves 45 mpg at most for Chandler, JJ, Williams and the ky boys. I think JJ gets close to 20 mpg so I can see he or Chandler losing time and Chandler will get some minutes at PG. But like you said, it will be interesting for sure. Lots of options.

and as others have mentioned, those minutes probably would not have been quite as high without the injuries to Kerr, Robinson and Butler.

Even if our offensive efficiency dips a little bit from last season, it should be made up with an elevated defensive efficiency. I'll take scoring in the mid to upper 70's if we are keeping our opponents in the 60's.

Nobody on Pope's team is going to play more than 28 MPG. Just not going to happen given how closely the staff tracks peak performance stuff.

Very excellent point and it keeps guys fresh for later in game too. Plus, the SEC is so brutal it might be a detriment to have our guys play so many minutes and have little left late in a game. In addition, we have a lot of very good bench strength where we coukd wear teams down with a bit more distribution of playing time. The top guys will still get good minutes but not as much as some are thinking. Don't think Pope works that way.

With this line-up, I think Lowe, Wilkerson and Oweh need to play at least 27 minutes each, if not 30+ ...

I don't think we will have anyone playing >26mpg. Oweh will lead in mpg.

While I don't disagree with the FT shooting comment on JQ, Garrison has the same problem, he made only about 50% FTs all season. The fact that they both struggle in that area compounds the problem, since subbing one for the other doesn't fix it.
