What's the Biggest Brawl in UK Basketball History?

Was that the year that Vandy had Fosnes, Feher and Ford, the F Troop?
Off the top of my head I think they came after Perry Wallace.......at my age you have forced me to think way too early.....not enough coffee yet.......now I've got a headache:D

After further review(check computer) Wallace came to Vandy in '66 the F troop in 72.

Vandy had a great team in 1973-74 but flamed out in the NCAA, losing to Marquette in the Mideast Regionals. Maybe a BC powder would help this morning, lol.

Odd I can't remember that fight. Of course, I can remember the '92 Tournament run well. I have a vague memory that Sean Woods got tossed from his senior night game for throwing a punch at a Tennessee player, but I don't think the punch connected.

This was a game on 7-MAR-1992 between Sean Woods and Jay Price who were both ejected. Below is a article about it with interesting photo of the two of them watching the game together from the press room.

My dad told a story of Allen Feldhaus running a UT player completely off the floor one time. He was Rupp’s enforcer. Does anyone remember the details of this?

This one was related to a fight between Cotton Nash and UT's Sid Elliott on 15-JAN-1962. Below are some excerpts about it.

Not Perry but there was a picture of Stamper and Van Bredakoff on the front page.

Yes, the game where Stamper was ejected for hitting Van Breda Kolff was 24-JAN-1972. Here's some background on that (but not much):

FYI, I searched but did not find any mention of a fight during the Austin Peay game (15-MAR-1973) between Stamper and Percy Howard or anyone else.

And as mentioned Stamper and Vanderbilt's Perry Wallace obviously never fought in a UK game because they never played each other in a UK game.

Neither did I find any mention of a fight betwen Marquette's Bob Lackey and Stamper. The closest I could find was the following account of Marquette's Larry McNeill taking a swing at Stamper. This was in the NCAA tournament on 16-MAR-1972.

Gimel Martinez abused Robert Horry.

Robert Horry had an issue with Martinez and let him get into his head which caused him to pick up a number of technicals in multiple game, but the noteworthy fight was between Horry and Reggie Hanson.

Remember Charles Hurt and Charles Barkley getting into it when we played Auburn. That's back when Auburn was really good, and they both got thrown out of the game. Once Barkley was gone, Auburn had no answer for our superiority.

For you old timers like me, I remember a near-fight between Charles Hurt and Sean Tuohy of Ole Miss. Maybe 1980'ish? Somehow Tuohy got knocked down or fell down or something, and Hurt, being the gentleman that he was, tried to pick him up and set him back on his feet. Tuohy took exception and took a few wild but harmless swings. Fortunately for Tuohy, Hurt kinda backed off and put his arms out wide like, WTF? He would've kicked Tuohy's **** in if he got angry.

FYI, I searched pretty extensively and did find mention of this incident, either between Tuohy and Hurt or Tuohy and Minniefield. Again, doesn't mean it didn't happen, just that I wasn't able to find the details on it.

FYI, the first thing I check to try to locate these types of things is to see what games the player played and check if any technicals were called. Tuohy played a total of 11 games vs. UK and only 3 of those were technicals called. The first was 28-FEB-1979 where Lavon Williams and Mississippi coach Bob Weltlich were called for techs. The second was 9-JAN-1980 where Weltlich was called for a tech and the third was 6-FEB-1980 where UK's Coach Hall was called for a tech.

So if anyone has any additional details which can better determine the game let me know and I'll search again.

One set of altercations which wasn't mentioned was the incidents between Tom Payne and Tennessee's Jim Woodall. Initially there was an altercation in Knoxville (on 16-JAN-1971) when Payne flipped Woodall onto the floor and was called for a flagrant foul but not ejected.

The return game in Lexington (6-MAR-1971) Payne fought Woodall again and was ejected near the end of the game.

I looked up the recap of the 3-15-73 game and found no mention of the "fight" either, but I sat there and saw it happen and heard Cawood call it.I will try to look a bit more to see if I find anything. The Box score shows Stamper played 13 minutes and had 0 personal fouls(I don't think T's were counted as personal fouls in those days.

Noteworthy for you. But memorable for me was Gimel taking no crap from Horry.
