What if they gave a CFP championship - and nobody came or watched?

I’m sorry but does anyone else puff their chest about a conference other than the SEC fans who have not won anything? No other conference in sports roots for a conference like this group does. So bizarre.

It’s a top heavy conference who until tonight only had two different national champions the last 12 years which is the same as the ACC did.

Glad Georgia won and congrats to them as it’s simply their accomplishment to brag about; not the fans of Vandy, Kentucky, SC, Arkansas, TAMU, Mizzou, Tennessee, Miss State or anyone else. 😂

I find it to be part of the charm.

We all know the rest of the country spits on the south, even as increasingly, people are flocking to the south in droves.

Be proud of the bond we have.

I’ve heard many schools from every single conference do it. You need to get out more.
Lol. No way is this remotely true. I’ve lived all over this country and it simply does not happen except for SEC fans. No one in the Big Ten acts as if Ohio State’s success is their’s. No one in the AFC east acts like the Pats winning reflects on their team.

It’s beyond silly that we have Kentucky fans chanting “SEC” cause conference powerhouses win.

Dude, who said we’re claiming any other school’s success? We’re just letting every other conference know who’s boss. You notice you’re all alone on this topic? That should tell you something.

And, hey, what if they had a National Championship Game and Everybody Watched??

Caveman gets liquored up on Tskwared’s Tab!!

Good for him, but I just went into the witness protection program. Tell him the check is in the mail though.

Seriously, I am pleasantly surprised, but the viewers saw a hell of a game. Paper this AM said the crowd at the stadium was 2/3 Georgia, if not more.

I do not chant SEC SEC SEC in my living room or at a sporting event. I am however intelligent enough to not argue that the SEC is by far the most dominant football conference in America and has been for several decades now.

6/14 current members have won a title since 1998. No other conference can claim more than 2. I get the guy saying they are top heavy and most of those are Bama, but that is true of any conference as the Big 10 is ALLLLL OSU, although we can throw in Michigan in 97 to be fair I guess. I just started with the BCS era as that started college football trying to determine a champion in the right way for once (not saying there were not controversies on who got to the BCS game some years).

You are claiming other team's success. You're touting another team's accomplishment in regards to national championships. We haven't won anything. Bama, LSU, and Georgia are the ones who have won something the last 10 years.

Alone with the group I am talking about? Yeah, I think it's ridiculous to talk trash as a conference when you're touting someone else's success. Like watching someone else win a fist fight and then you're talking shit to the guy who lost it. You didn't do it. You won't find any other people who do this crap but SEC football fans all around college sports and certainly not in pro sports. Rivals hate each other and would never root for their rival to win. You think Ohio State was rooting for Michigan to win the CFP to tout the Big Ten? Nope.

I don't expect you to flip your stance as I've seen this board, for years, act as cheerleaders for Alabama football which is so bizarre especially when all of these programs root like hell for us to lose in basketball.

The 2018 game in Atlanta was 90/10 Georgia. I was there for that.

Surprised by the rating. I guess people really was wanting to see Bama lose. LOL

"Also worth noting, Birmingham led the nation in viewership for the game and Atlanta set a new record for title game viewership. Birmingham had a 57.6 local rating while Atlanta had a 47.8 rating. Greenville (31.9), Jacksonville (29.0), Nashville (28.3), Knoxville (28.0), New Orleans (27.5), Austin (23.5), Columbus (23.2) and Memphis (22.8) round out the top 10 markets to watch the game."

Curious how many on the west coast and up north watched.

I suspect the ratings dropped precipitously when UGA intercepted the ball.

I think ESPN and the CFP were very pleased. If you turned in as a college football fan, it was hard to turn off. Great night of football.

BTW, I heard some Bama fans were more enthused about going to the UC game, because they knew this was not Saban’s best team. No doubt, a fan base that has been spoiled.

Well, we know that all the other teams in every other conference know they don’t play in the best conference and, therefore, they can say their record was what it was for their conference, but probably would not be the same in the SEC. Losing the conference to Oregon or Cincy or Pitt just does not mean as much.

It’s one of the reasons kids from all over the country dream about being good enough for the SEC.

I just asked what 'few' means...

That said, conference affiliation certainly matters to the players, and to recruits. You can choose to not care if you want.

I also find it interesting he used 12 years...so I guess he couldn't include AU's 2010 title so the SEC would have had Bama, LSU and AU before UGA.

You are claiming other team's success.
When I chanted SEC at the Citrus Bowl, I was claiming OUR success.

Deny, denigrate, and parse it anyway you want, you devolve into irrelevant and irrational arguments that do not lessen the SEC brand, and yearly increase the recruiting rankings of ALL SEC teams.

I just love it when someone predicts the death of sports and are immediately proven wrong.

Imagine using anything that happened last year as a predictor of the future, like last year was in any way normal.
