Coen will be a fall guy in LA even though he did not call plays. This is a good time for him to move back to Lexington and fix the offense.Prolly cause the media out there wants him fired anyway

Not very subtle. Also his picture shows him wearing a UK cap and his son is sporting a UK shirt
Ask Joe Brady what happens to your career if you hang around a bad situationWhy would you want to go backward and not try to make it in the NFL? It was one bad year.
He's young and has plenty of time. He comes here and runs the offense(well, maybe) Make as much, or more, money and not have to live in LA.Why would you want to go backward and not try to make it in the NFL? It was one bad year.
There is no doubt Coen was totally running the offense in October-November 2021 and in the entire Citrus Bowl. He may have had a shorter leash in September. He's young and has plenty of time. He comes here and runs the offense(well, maybe) Make as much, or more, money and not have to live in LA.
As far as Coen - not 100% sure how those contracts are written but I doubt they have any contractual control to stop him from leaving anytime he wants for a college job. I am sure, due to his relationship with McVey, he's wanting to ensure he doesn't burn any bridges. To go back to an older discussion point in this thread - Rich Brooks decided to promote Joker to be head coach in waiting. Barnhart didn't have to go along with it when Brooks retired - but that would have been a damn hard thing to do.
Sooooo, how does the Coen thing work if it does happen? Rams are 3-8, with SIX games left to play. Guess he could resign anytime, but depends on his contract. Or would McVey release him when the Rams are eliminated from playoffs? Technically Coen really isn't needed in Lexington till Jan, doesn't need to be at the Bowl. Damn sure hope he could do some recruiting up to Dec signing day.
Cal's head would explode, so I love the idea.
Actually, I feel Cal would make a great AD. His coaching leaves a lot to be desired....but few people can market , persuade others and run a business empire like John Calipari. I'd take him as athletic director in a heartbeat
Because Barney is a rain man level bean counting idiot. Why would Stoops get to pick the next UK head coach and not the director of athletics, who is responsible for and supervises the program
YES!! He could come in like the Longest Yard, or North Dallas 40! Really, is there no one but U6 fans pining for BB to come save them?Heard Brian Brohm’s name mentioned on the radio by a prominent sports columnist.
Yeah I should have added “if things go like I expect “ .I remember Neil Brown getting all the "future UK coach" 5-6 years ago. I think many/most UK fans would not be happy with hiring him today.
I want to see Sumrall continue winning at Troy, take a mid-tier P5 job in another P5 conference and win there. Nothing would make me happier than to see Sumrall do well at another P5 school, then come to UK after Stoops retires!!! I really like what Sumrall can potentially bring to table in a few years. But ... I do want the next coach to have P5 experience. Too many coaches can win on Troy's level and flop in P5.
Again, I fully expect Sumrall to win wherever he goes, but I think UK is at level now where we will attract coaches that are winning at other P5 schools. The SEC, plus coaching salary that being part of SEC allows, will attract good coaches that are winning in P5.
Napier's tenure at Fla will be a good experiment with "can't fail coach" going from "Ragin Cajuns" to SEC football. Napier was great coach at last stop and winning at Fla is much easier than winning at UK. Next year will be critical for Napier.
I agree. While it would be great to have him next week, I don't see a problem with him not arriving until after the Ram's season if over as long as we can announce/leak it sooner. As far as Coen - not 100% sure how those contracts are written but I doubt they have any contractual control to stop him from leaving anytime he wants for a college job. Why does he want to come here, if you don't mind me asking? As a selfish move, I have a close friend who is an OC in D1, (or whatever the hell it's called now) who I want to be our OC. He's had ups and downs but because of who I know who he is and I honestly love the guy, I wish UK would hire him and he would stay here for the next 10 years with Stoops. At one point in time he was an OC in the SEC and was very successful. I have e-mailed Stoops to let him know he would be interested and we wouldn't have to put up with the stuff every year.
Of course, this is purely selfish reasons but I also think he would be successful. He also coached in the NFL for a year and there is a WR who became All-Pro and said he became All-Pro because of this coach.
Any way, Stoops now makes a shit ton of money to protect his job. He's going to do what he wants and I don't blame him.
His brother won a National Championship, did he ever make as much money as Mark? It's a crazy world, but God bless them all.
Not as much taxes on his money at kyHe's young and has plenty of time. He comes here and runs the offense(well, maybe) Make as much, or more, money and not have to live in LA.
Not sure, 10 maybe?? Dumb law. What's the number of days the job has to be posted following KY law? Is it 15 days?
His account hasn’t had a post or anything since right after he left here so I assume the picture was just never changedAlso his picture shows him wearing a UK cap and his son is sporting a UK shirt
One job expires Dec.5th, the other Dec. 6th.What's the number of days the job has to be posted following KY law? Is it 15 days?
He also hired Nick Mingione and has kept him about 3 years longer than he should because they are church buddies. We are the worst baseball program in the SEC.He hired Gillispie and Joker also. Had to be forced in a corner to push for Calipari and is known to give hugely one-sided contracts. Combine that with his lack of forward-thinking, stance on alcohol, and stance on nil - no, I emphatically dont want Barney hiring the next coach.
Give Mitch some more time on that one . He’s praying on it . He hasn’t received his answer. He also hired Nick Mingione and has kept him about 3 years longer than he should because they are church buddies. We are the worst baseball program in the SEC.
He is a perfect example of the Barnhart downside . From the outside looking in for people generally it’s not a good staff but I happen to have a lot of firsthand awareness of this one and that staff just isn’t good at anything they do. The closest to something of substance is Roszel. But they aren’t a good recruiting staff at identification and most importantly dealing with kids and people…they are regarded in the coaching community as being pompous. Kids on roster can’t count on what they are told. But because Barnhart likes what Mingione says and presents himself he gets to keep hanging on. He brought energy to that first team he inherited from Henderson and it worked out for that squad. But as time goes on and they have to stand on their own it’s clear they can’t do it. And he is aware that he gets a longer leash by ‘saying the right things’.He also hired Nick Mingione and has kept him about 3 years longer than he should because they are church buddies. This is exactly why the Billy Clyde tenure was so short lived . It was his off court stuff that got him fired . We are very lucky that Billy G wasn’t a model citizen. He is a perfect example of the Barnhart downside . And leave hot property Fickell?Lonnie Demaree says on another site says there’s a possibility Coen is coming back and the Graham Mertz kid that is quarterback for Wisconsin will be his quarterback.Does Lonnie still have any inside connections?
I could actually see Stoops as an AD. Whether he sees himself as an AD is a whole other question.
Hmmmm Stoops as Athletic Director, naaaaaw never happenI honestly think Stoops retires early and he will retire at UK or maybe stays employed at UK but maybe in an administrative roll.
That said it would be awesome if LC came back had success and transitioned over to our HC.
There would be Bourbon and Cigars in the concession stand. That's for sure.I could actually see Stoops as an AD. Whether he sees himself as an AD is a whole other question.
That’s not true. He hasn’t posted anything but he has been active because he has been liking a lot of posts such as Sumrall winning coach of the year. His account hasn’t had a post or anything since right after he left here so I assume the picture was just never changed
I'm gonna file this away in the "Opinion Stared As A Fact" File.Jon Sumerall will be the next Head Coach
Will his contract let him? Did the guy going to Neb from the Rams to be OC leave right away?Coen might be willing and able to leave the Rams almost right away.
I would bet that the Rams do have contractual control, but I don't know for 100% either. As far as Coen - not 100% sure how those contracts are written but I doubt they have any contractual control to stop him from leaving anytime he wants for a college job. I am sure, due to his relationship with McVey, he's wanting to ensure he doesn't burn any bridges.

Unless you know things others don't.... Like Stoops, Barnhart and Sumerall.

However, if both parties agree, contracts can be amended.
with McVey, he's wanting to ensure he doesn't burn any bridges.
Maybe they just want that position manned for the entire season.but I can't see ANY reason why he wouldn't have the freedom to leave.
Don't follow the NFL closely, will the Rams make the playoffs?Maybe they just want that position manned for the entire season.
Not likely, it would take a miracle at this point. Kupp is injured and really their only consistent receiver.Don't follow the NFL closely, will the Rams make the playoffs?
