Seems like so many armchair experts are worried about the team we will have next year. Do we not have several good players coming back? Were several not McDAA? What about the new players coming in, are not some of them 5-star and one considered one of the very best big men in the nation? Whats the problem, could it be that since we didn't win with so much talent as what we had this past season, surely theres no way we can win with THESE guys! GIVE ME A BREAK, how many schools would die to have this team in their colors. Its time to see how good of a coaching staff we have, for they will have to work a little harder this year. I think its going to be very interesting and enjoyable to watch these guys come together. GO CATS!!!

Careful OP, 3rex will come in here and tell you to stop being reasonable and to stop slurping on the blue kool-aid.

I think we will have a good team, certainly one that should be in the top 25 for the duration of the season.

I think people have confused concern that some fans have over whiffing on the last several available recruits with a belief that we won't have a good season.

Are you saying that next years team is only good enough to be a top 25 team ???

I said I believe our team will be in the top 25 for the duration of the season. I'm certainly not smart enough to know if we will be #2, #12 or #22.
What do you mean by "only a top 25 team?"

That's right and if Calipari can't deliver with 7 high draft picks what will it take?

He has already delivered a championship, something people like you forget over and over again.

Plus, what 7 high draft picks are you making up? UK will have one guy who is a legit lotto pick this year in Towns, and maybe 2-3 others...none of who are really one of the best 14 players in the draft other than potential. I'm not sure anyone considers DJ or the Twins high draft picks.

Coach Cal delivers 5 Star recruits and everyone loves him for it but, at the end of the day the fans want Championships. That is what Kentucky basketball is about. Sweet Sixteens - Nice. Elite Eights - Great. Final Fours - Love 'em. But, fans here want Championship banners to hang

This ain't the 40s and 50s...those times are never coming back. Cal has done better than any coach since Rupp...and that is not enough for our "special" segment of the fanbase. Cal is a victim of his own success sadly.

The cats should be a Top 10 team (at least) all year) Only Top 25 is for teams like Miss. St

So, you don't want a Championship every year???

The top 10 teams are part of the top 25

Ok let's go with that. So, if Ky was let's say, 18th all year, you would be happy?

No team can win the championship every year, and it is delusional to think they can. I see what you are very early on, need to work on it my friend. Weak effort.

I'm not say Ky should win a Championship every year, I'm jus answering the OP's question of "What do fans want?" and I say they want Championships even though "most" know that won't happen they still want and hope for a Championship every year.

P.S. - Don't get your feathers all ruffled

People have expressed concern with depth, particularly at the 5. We have nobody behind Skal that is taller than 6'9" and weighs more than 220 pounds. I feel depth is a bit overrated as far as games go. Depth adds to competitive practices at least.

The 2011-2012 team wasn't real deep with a freshman Wiltjer as the 7th man and Vargas as the 8th man. Their top 7 was clearly superior to our top 7 next season and Skal will be great, but Anthony Davis level? I doubt it.

If we could add one more big I would feel better about coping with a Skal injury or foul trouble.

Yeah, well those fans are crazy because UK has won just 8 of them in its history, and just 4 in the last 50+ years. People wanting a championship every year or even one every five years are going to be disappointed more times than not. Hoping is one thing, you said "they want a title every year" which is insane.

Let's say that Ky went on a Coach Wooden at UCLA run starting next year. (Don't worry it isn't going to happen) Are you saying you wouldn't like that because you don't want a Championship every year?

This is Kentucky. We're never going to be particularly happy this time of year unless our team is headed to the White House.

Everything else (great regular seasons, conference titles, Final Fours, etc.) is window dressing. Good thing is our coach feels the same way.

And given the odds of actually winning a NC every year, even with the best overall team...anyone that cannot manage their expectations should stay off the internet and save the rest of from having to become their therapist.

Not sure where being happy came with all this. The OP asked "what do you want" out of this season. At least that's the way I took it. I won't know if I'll be happy if we're #18 all season until I see the team. If we are one of the 2–3 best & stay 18, then probably no. If, on the other hand, were one of the 20-25 best, then sure.
Have to see the team in action before knowing any of that though.

Alert....UK has "8" championships in our history. Cal has delivered one of them. If yoyr saying 4 final 4's, a national championship, a national runner-up us not good enough...then you just suck! You're also clueless on realistic expectations.

I just want to be in contention every season. That is all we can ask for. We have been legitimate contenders every season under Cal except 2013.

I am content. I am excited and confident that next year's team will be a contender.

Let's face it, since Cal has arrived UK suddenly has MANY more "die hard" fans. An excited fan base is great and all but it's obvious some of these "die hards" think Kentucky should win a title every year. These are the same fans who disappeared during the NIT year, dogged last year's team until the Final Four run, and now criticize Willie/others for the Wisc game.

This win it all or nothing/we should get every 5 star crowd is a miserable bunch.

I am happy as long as we have a chance to win it all every year. Last year was a little different after winning 38 straight and not win it all that was like a big punch to the gut.
