Worst loss I’ve seen in a while

No use screaming or wailing about it. This is the team we have. POSSIBLY all it's gonna be. Gonna have to figure a way to cobble up some wins. Coach knows that and hasn't offered injury excuses.
We got who we got. Play on.
I don't have to comment about the nose on your face to realize that it exists. He isn't talking about because it is well known by everyone except for some of our fake fans.

It’s almost like we where missing out two best players….. Take Broom and Kelly off of Auburn, how would they do????
Auburn would probably STILL beat the broomstick out of Texas, simply because Auburn does the little things without the ball. That team consistently fights for a win every game, they are fundamentally sound from what I've seen. Pearl will not put up with lack of focus, weak-minded players. I saw him jerk a knot in a couple guy's tails today. At one point he just about popped a vessel getting on them about not playing defense, and IMMEDIATELY they clamped down on their opponent.

You control 95% of the game. Better players. Idk about coaching but I know about effort and our guys we re awful. Mentally they made some ridiculous mistakes and some guys like Oweh need to step it up. Even with our guys missing we had the better team. But no guts. These are the games you rely on coaching to pull these college guys through. When we were up 5-6 stuck at 70 we should have called TO or run a legit play. We should have had our 5 best players in. Ugghhh what a frustrating season
You need to take some anxiety medicine. It's almost like these injuries are hurting us.

We don't have our starting PG or backup PG. We don't even have the default 3rd PG.

We don't have the main guy we give the ball to and say "go get a bucket."

When the game got tight late, we missed those guys. We definitely had some poor effort plays. That's frustrating.

But this is the "worst loss you've seen in a while?" Were you there for Oakland? St. Peter's?

Kept playing Brea when he was terrible on both ends, rather see Noah get that time cause atleast he hits the rim on his 3s. I wish we would fight and show some sort of sense of urgency but we are so nonchalant and “whatever” body language out there. These are D1 players, basic fundamentals shouldnt need to be taught at this level. Meet your passes, block out, hustle, go under screens from 30ft……and maybe just maybe grab a loose ball. We definitely have the worst hands in uk team history, we lose 4-5 balls every game for absolutely no reason.

Pope needs to just make the move already, and replace Kobe with Noah since the kid is the future here. Give Kobe spot minutes and make him EARN the playing time. His attitude is not good.

And in all seriousness Kobe has been a sixth man most of his career if I recall. He may actually feel more comfortable in that role and would be able to bring more energy.

Not as dramatic as OP but I do think this team as a second round ceiling. I mean having older guys that can’t stay on the floor is just as bad as having freshman who can’t adjust to the game. I like our coach though. I don’t feel loke
I have to defend him. It is what it is.

The same koby that help us beat UT.
I see your point, but like others have said he needs to be coming off the bench. Earlier in the season I thought that because he was such a deadly shooter that he should be starting, but I've seen too much of the things that he doesn't do or do well, that make me think a guy who is the future here should be getting that playing time, and then Pope can work on putting in plays that will have him open.

Some of you guys are IDIOTS. No point guard at all and still could have won. Get everyone healthy and we will be fine. Healthy this team can beat anyone, saying our season is trashed because we lost an SEC road game is the stupidest thing I have heard yet.

Others don’t want to admit it, but this season is toast. With Butler and Robinson, or without them - this team won’t do a damn thing. Maybe win one tourney game.

So I agree, let’s give Noah more run. Let’s build his confidence for next season.

I want to say the same for Perry, Chandler, and Garrison - but I’m not sure those guys can ever be real contributors here. Perry can probably become a solid offensive player, but I don’t think he can get it done on the other end. Garrison is a career backup and Chandler should transfer out.

It was a bad loss. Last 4 minutes was hard to listen to. Hurt in a lot of ways. First time all year I've heard Pope point out one play...the Perry turnover at 4 minutes...as devastating. Hope that doesn't cause TP to lose the stuff he has built up.

The Brea disappearance befuddles me, but he really has gone through those spells before.
Also was hoping two of out three frosh...especially Chandler...would be a bit further developed.

Getting awful late in the season for keystone kops stuff late in the game.

Sucks about the freshmen because Pope has to replace almost everyone else. I only trust Noah going forward. I think Perry sticks around and has his moments, while Chandler goes to a mid major.

I may be on an island here, but regardless of final record, Pope would have gotten a pass on this season from me. He had very little time to replace an entire team and only got Robinson and Chandler from BYU. Now, with the injuries, it’s just too much to overcome.

Compare that to Arkansas and Calipari, who took UK’s entire 2023 team and 2024 recruits. At this point in the season, which result would you prefer?

UK could lose out, first round outs in SEC and NCAA tournaments and I’m content. Anyone who had thoughts that Pope would immediately come in and go to the Sweet 16 or better was delusional.

I think most people agree. It was the early winning, unexpected winning, and high rankings that got people’s hopes up.

But I’m concerned for year two at this point. Jasper Johnson looks like the only freshman who will be impactful. Noah looks like the only Sophmore whom we can really count on next season. Oweh has serious limitations. Garrison is not the answer at center.

Pope has a lot of work to do in the portal, and won’t get everyone that he wants.

You never made one post about the Tenn game.

Get lost

The injury excuse is not going to work for this game. That was horrible coaching down the stretch and even worse execution from the players.
Isnt Texas missing players? I mean people are pointing to injuries like they decided the game. We were up we had control at times and should have gone up big. This game we had every chance to finish it off. Oweh should have been benched at one point. We probably win if he’s reined in. That’s how wide the margin was. Today it’s a sick feeling. We needed that game. Yeah maybe sos gets us a decent seed but in my mind winning that locks us into a 3 seed. Gives us room to lose. Texas was as bad as they come and the injury Bs just doesn’t work for a game you dominate and choke away

I will say it again, Pope is coaching his butt off to keep this team in games with all of the injuries he has. Imagine if he had Big Z instead of Carr. Imagine if he had Davis instead of Brea. I could go on but I think you get my point. Without those players, he is doing a lot better than our former coach.
Imagine if Michael Jordan came to uk vs UNC. That crap doesn’t matter. It is what it is and Carr was fantastic as was brea and at times uk fans loved what these guys bring: now it’s imagine “Z instead of Carr” etc. lol. Carr and brea have gotten worse. Oweh seems to be regressing. Imagine we had good players is what you’re saying. Well the fact is we have a team full of really good players. We are very deep. Do you guys realize Texas was missing key players? No only the adversity pope faces. Should have won the game. It’s a bad loss. Texas is decimated with a crap coach a team that hadn’t had a big win all year. We lost to a Texas team that was short handed one that we led most of the game and couldn’t get a score on about 10 opportunities to open up a big lead. Man I have a massive headache today so I’ll leave it there. We should have won this game no excuses.

You’re right about Oweh. Folks here will say things like, “he scored 20 points and was the least of our problems” but fail to realize he took 18 shots to get those points and went 1/5 from deep. He should never be launching that many threes. I’m perfectly fine with him coming back next year, but not if he thinks he’s the focal point of the offense. There isn’t a guy on the squad that I wouldn’t recruit over, including him.
