What are you listening to?

Can't believe this is a half a century old.

Dexter Gordon was a funny dude. He used to recite the lyrics to the song he was about to play, beatnik style. LOL

He was playing a gig IN LA (IIRC) and a dude dumped a handful of change in the bell of his horn. Without missing a beat, while continuing to play, he rotated the horn upside down, dumping the change into his hand, and pocketed it. LOL
Love me some LTD

@cawoodsct This is probably the most underrated Pumpkins song for me:

The riffage at 2:47 is so good, and the melodic breakdown at 4:29 through the end is one of my favorite pieces of music in general. Just perfection.

HIGH FADE is a ridiculously TIGHT funk trio from Scotland that is finally coming to the USA, but no stops are scheduled for Kentucky, unfortunately. I would love to see them live and up close. This music is harder to play than it seems. They are just that tight !! Their instrumental jams are incredible !!

Hell yeah! That's right up my alley. Thanks for the rec., mega.
Check out some of their busking instagram reels from the streets of Edinburgh ... you will be amazed !!!
Also, if not familiar, you might like Marbin. Check them out. They tour everywhere, so they might come by your neck of the woods sometime. They play the small venues, so you can get an intimate vibe !!

Elis and Tom

Ancient bossa nova record. Makes you want to buy a white dinner jacket and learn to smoke. Almost.

Also, I turned some of you guys on to The Teskey Brothers a year or so ago. Just thought I would let you know they just released new music last week. If you have never heard them and like a bluesy Motown vibe go check them out.

Yo mega, if you aren't familiar, you should browse some of the artists at Colemine Records. Small label near Cincy that puts out some really great soul music. Also, if you buy vinyl, their pressings sound fantastic. Unfortunately, the Spotify uploads aren't great files (might not be an issue on Hi-Res streaming services like Tidal or Qbuzz).

Same vein: Big Crown records in New York has some great stuff.

Lately revisiting one of my favorite teenage albums Bryan Adams Cuts like a Knife. Not a bad song on the album, before he got all ballady. Guilty pleasure but just so good.
