We love you Oscar but….

Sadly, Oscar was a bum himself when it came to defense, missing easy shots near the rim, and winning. Great rebounder, but one of the weakest NPOY’s that the game has had.

Would love to see how many other NPOY’s went undrafted. He must be in rare company.
Yep; finally someone gets it here besides the rest of the world…. Dude has low IQ, too soft/nice when we needed a killer on the court, horrible passer, and was frustrating as hell to watch play defense. Even though he seems so sweet and loves horses; the NBA agrees…

It did change

It changed

^^^^^^^ Like I said.....
Wrong, it did not change.

No, he can not return even if undrafted. He must meet these conditions to return and he does not meet 2 of the conditions .

This is actually from the NCAA -

Information Regarding the 2023 National Basketball Association Draft and Combine, Agents and Workouts.

Everyone is getting confused about the rule change that undrafted players can return but it does not go into effect until the NBA CBA allows 18 year olds and keeps NBA teams from signing undrafted players until after the next college basketball season ends.

Imagine if Oscar could come back and then in January or February a NBA team signs him and he leaves UK.

NBA draft flexibility

College basketball players who request an Undergraduate Advisory Committee evaluation, participate in the NBA combine and aren’t drafted can return to school as long as they notify their athletics director of their intent by 5 p.m. the Monday after the draft.

This change is effective if/when the NBA and NBPA make an expected rule change, which would make undrafted student-athletes who return to college after the draft ineligible for the NBA until the end of the next college basketball season.

He can return. He meets everything.

Give me an example of one player who has taken advantage of this rule?

Are you confused about college basketball players entering the NBA Draft and somehow playing in college again? Here's an explanation of the NBA Draft process.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The college basketball landscape has drastically changed over the past few years, specifically the process for early entrants into the NBA Draft.
Here at KREM 2, we've been getting a lot of questions of what this means for our local college players and their futures with the teams. So, let's break things down.

Let's start with the rules.
NBA Early Entry Rules
Players can sign with an agent without losing eligibility
In 2019, the NCAA introduced a new rule where college players can sign with an agent without losing college eligibility. Now, there is a caveat, we'll get to that next.
This allows players to essentially get a taste of what it would be like to turn pro. In the process, the agent helps the player find out where they stand in terms of the upcoming draft. Whether they would be a first or second rounder or even get drafted at all.
Must terminate agreements to return to college
Here's the catch.
Under the new rule allowing players to sign with an agent and remain eligible, if a player decides to return to college they must terminate all agreements made with an agent.
Before the rule implemented in 2019, if a player signed with an agent, they became ineligible.
So, that contract that has been signed, go put it in the shredder. You're back in college for at least one more year.
Players can participate in the NBA Draft and still return to college
Now, here's another aspect that has changed. Players can go all the way through the NBA draft process. This means they can participate in draft day and if they aren't taken by a team in the draft, they are able to return to college. Of course, this is for early entrants that still have college eligibility left.
The one stipulation being, to do this, the player must have participated in the NBA Draft Combine.
To return, the athlete must inform the school's Athletic Director by 5 p.m. the Monday after the draft.
Again, before the 2019 rule changes, if a player was a part of draft day, their college eligibility was lost.

Supposedly Oscar could return to UK if he has met all the NCAA requirements and notifies UK by the following Monday after draft.

And Tre Mitchell does not play center so there is no conflict of Oscar getting his playing time.
There is a conflict.

If Mitchell comes, UK will play 2 PF's most of the time--as Bradshaw and Klutch don't think 7 footers should play Center.

If Oscar comes back, there's no way you can start Mitchell and Bradshaw--so Mitchell goes to the bench.

I posted the NCAA memo that was sent to colleges and he does not meet 2 of the conditions and not some random article.

Yeah man, you're privy to memos sent to colleges and every major site and writer is wrong. Gotcha. Hahahahaha

If you were a NPOY, you're telling me you wouldn't chase that option?

Oscar can play in the pros just as much as 50% of the NBA rosters.

If he comes back, I'm fine with it. You know what you get with Oscar. These xfers? Not so much.

Some of you need to watch more basketball and quit eating Cheetos long enough to learn something. It’s hard to fathom that so many adults who claim to be fans, know so little.

The rule is dumb if you're preventing kids from returning to school.

They're getting paid 6 ways to Sunday the moment they come to college.

But now they're 'professionals' and can't be abusing the NCAA rule book?

The NCAA is whack and allowing dudes to swim and change in the same "All inclusive" locker rooms proves my point.

Within 2 years he'll be back in the Congo......chasing his supper!
I've seen some dumb things on this board, but this is just gross.

Dude left it all on their court for UK for two years, was a tremendous ambassador of the program, is an all time great for us, went across the world and made a better life for his family and you vomit out this trash.

Completely agree…how some fans are so vile, so ignorant just kills me.

Wasn’t Timme a national award winner of some type ? That ass didn’t get drafted .. made a mistake coming back and getting his weaknesses exposed

Dude will make money playing pro basketball, maybe not NBA star money, but life changing money, especially when compared to poverty in an impoverished world.
A note to both those who have big feelings about Oscar, and those that don’t quite know how to feel about him:
Player of the year ≠ most valuable player. Separate the two notions and then you can evaluate Oscar more clearly.

He signed a two way deal with the Pacers. Now we can stop arguing about his ability/willingness to come back.
