Wait for the right Boom

I saw another thread how some fans are wanting those portal announcements this week. I say wait! You want to beat the elite teams? It will take elite players and not just a system. There will be some top talent after the season ends as there are always coaches who depart and hired elsewhere that causes an existing proven talent to consider options. There are always a few top players where the NIL money versus risking the draft becomes attractive. If anything has been proven this season is having a very top tiered player or two especially on the interior who can create their own shot in crunch time equals winning versus losing. For Kentucky to return to dominance requires those players and not just shooters but guys like i just described who can also control the paint on defense. So many of the names here that Kentucky has reached out to are not "wow" types and yes some warm bodies may make some happy but again we need to get the top guys for eventual succcess.

I think the reasoning for wanting the booms now rather than later is because of the impending House settlement. A lot of players will apparently try to commit ASAP to maximize their potential earnings or something like that. So, it should be a busy week and to some extent, we should expect to hear something soon.

I do love the humor but it’s not really what’s going on. When most big schools and most high caliber recruits are scrambling to get everything sewn up before April 7th just in case, anyone who waits around hoping for some big windfall after that is most likely going to get left holding the bag even if Congress doesn’t even actually act this century.

I suppose my ultimate concern is simply getting "make a difference" top tier talent. BBN has this thing of many trying to convince themselves (including often me too) that some "hidden" or mid-level recruit if they had the right coaching somehow are going to be superstars. Then the season comes and I will see comments like (name to be determined) shouldn't leave the bench or other negative comments despite no one ever suggesting in reality that they were significantly better than our opponents. For Kentucky to be at the best will take the best. I hate that Duke is killing it not only with their current team but already names that have committed. We have to accomplish the same.

Do you think it could be a turn off how hunky dory Pope is, or how the locker room is always calm before the first half and then the team doesn't come out playing as if they're interested in ripping out the throat of opponents?

Against High School competition. Remind me how that has worked out with Perry? I am not saying he might not be great but I have read he needs to add a lot to his physique when soon to face older players.

You do realize he is referencing the McDonalds All-American game. Where the best players in America are at right now, like Cam Boozer, Brown, Ament, etc and Moreno looked like the best player on the court BY FAR.
