First Ziegler is Jr and Reed is a Freshman so he does have more experience and thus one would think be better but lets look into the numbers.

Well, he used Santi and Zeigler like wash rag, he also blocked a three of his from 28 feet. It doesn’t look like Tenn had anybody that could guard Shep, Reeves and Edward's. I would rather have 4 star McDonalds All American Kentucky boy over a small 3 star guard from the Bronx.

If a person understands the game, they would tell you that Reed Sheppard is one of the most complete that college basketball has seen in a while. Coach Barnes would say that. There is not a coach in the country that wouldn’t want him and most would start him. I still think what is incredible is that Cal wouldn’t even have offered him if he wasn’t from the state and had pressure to do so. He offered didn’t recruit. What would this team be without him?

I know a UT alum who has very close ties to UT and he talked to Barnes about Reed. Barnes told him Reed wasn't athletic enough to play in the SEC.

When Reed blocked Ziegler's shot right in front of the UT bench I bet Barnes realized that Reed was athletic enough to play in the SEC.
