Update on Diallo....

Dudes gonna have to prove himself sometime or at least show he has sometime if basketball skill. He can't keep saying he won't play in this or that in fear it will hurt his draft stock. If that's the car and I'm embarrassed to admit it but I have more respect for Harry files than diallo if that's the case. Sure the dude has knees like an 89yr old man and was way behind everyone but atleast he wasn't a pussy about it and didn't live in fear ignore draft stock. Like I said idgaf with diallo anymore and that was before Knox, I love the kid and want him to honor his yr at uk but if he chooses not to do that and stay in the draft he's literally one step higher on the like ability scale compared to anything lonzo all related

Maybe I missed this take somewhere on the board, but isn't the simplest answer that he is actually torn because he has people telling him they'll draft him late first round.

IMO he came to UK intending on getting better and playing next year.
He wisely put his name in the draft to get feedback and more exposure to scouts.

Now he is getting that feedback and it's better than he expected and he's now torn.

It would be tough to turn down a guaranteed 1st round spot (if he's been given that guarantee) knowing he could come back and get hurt.

I guess I'm saying maybe it's not an either/or situation that he "used" UK. Maybe his intentions were to come back but now he's rethinking because someone has given him a guarantee.

It's all moot until the deadline. I hope he comes back but if he doesn't I hope he makes a ton of money and lives his dream.

Of course that's a reasonable scenario, but reason doesn't often reign supreme here. It's easier to assume one knows everything about a situation they actually know very little about, and then rant and rave about a perceived wrong.

So we've officially sliced, diced, flipped up, turned over, sniffed, & tasted Diallo's decision and then examined it under a tunneling electron microscope to analyze what his motives could possibly be for not participating in the 5-on-5.

And I believe we have officially learned that none of us know what the hell he is thinking And to discuss it is entertaining, but ultimately of zero consequence.

Maybe Cal didn't push him too hard to play last yr, because he didn't want him to take time from Briscoe.

No, it doesn't. "Being exposed" makes it sound like he's a shitty player who's managed to hide his shittiness; think it's more likely that he's a really solid player with a guarantee right around the lowest he'd be willing to stay in the draft, and doesn't want to jeopardize that by playing in one setting, having one bad game, and then losing the guaranteed spot that he liked.

I'm sorry but that exactly what being exposed means. You're putting more into the phrase "being exposed" than it really means. It simply means that exes may see flaws in his game that could effect his draft stock. That's it. It doesn't mean that he's a shitty player at all. If he played, he would be playing in more than just 1 game and he could easily expose a flaw in his game that could effect his stock. If I were an NBA executive, I couldn't take a chance on a player like Diallo who refuses to play. I would be thinking...."what's this kid trying to hide? He hasn't played in a long time and he has a chance to greatly effect his stock in a positive way but he doesn't. What's he trying to hide?"

I'll just be glad when he announces his decision either way. It's hard to figure out what he plans to do and all those mock drafts are so different. No doubt it would be a big blow to our title hopes next season and I just hope we get Cam Johnson.

Jeff Goodman and Fran Frischilla say Diallo is not returning to UK. Frischilla says there are at least 3 teams with picks between 20-30 that want him.

I still think the whole thing is ridiculous. Would bet everything I own Cal won't do anything like it again.
Not what was said francilla said teams with multiple picks might take a athletic guy like Diallo and well Goodman? Wow really? Here is the real deal Diallo is sliding if anything down to 36 from 33 super deep draft a team drafting in the 20s this yeah is going to be able to draft a lottery caliber player compared to other years. Teams don't gamble as much in strong drafts. They will in weak drafts like next year because ur not losing much. But since everyone wants to take everything Diallo says to heart how bout remembering he is doing nothing that anyone who has kept themselves informed about hasn't known about since Jan so with that in mind he is following the same plan when he said thishttps://www.google.com/amp/s/kentucky.247sports.com/Bolt/Diallo-says-Kentucky-would-be-unstoppable-with-Bamba-Knox-52009059/Amp

Having landed Knox, I'm perfectly okay with whatever happens with Diallo. Knox was the one guy Diallo might have cost us by coming here, but we landed him regardless.

it's all good. If he comes back, great, if he doesn't, Cal can take credit for how much he developed in his 4 months here. He'll always be a Cat and I'll be happy for him no matter what.

If you DGAF why are you even commenting on the subject?

What does it matter? Diallo coming to Ky is a win/win. If he is a first round pick it just proves to recruits that Cal can get you ready to be a 1st round selection in the NBA without even seeing the floor.
That ship has already sailed with Enes. The question now becomes, can another guy that's never played for Cal become a lottery pick? Who knows?

I'll leave it at: You clearly haven't read the rest of the dudes posts on the situation. Your definition is definitely not in line with his.

I'm at the point of just hoping we still have a shot at Johnson because IMO Diallo will think he has a good shot at some team taking a shot at him in the late first round and go for it.I just hope Cam is willing to wait until the decision of Diallo.I worry he won't and go to Zona.

You realize of course that Diallo isn't creating any of this drama, it's just media folks in a slow period trying make news who are creating any "drama". Can't blame that on Hami.
Yes I get that, but the silence is deafening and I just want it to be over with one way or another so we know how our roster will shake out for next season

Since Diallo was here this season, but didn't play and we have had all of these other recruits since his commitment, my excitement to see him play faded a bit. Watching some of his videos, however, reminded me of how much I want him to stay. We will be all right if he doesn't, but I would love to see that athleticism and slashing ability this year.

Side note: If he plays for us this year I think we will see much more of that athleticism on display than we did with Monk because of the different playing styles/abilities. I really want to see a lot of Diallo dunking on people (while wearing a UK jersey) highlights.

what drama?
The drama isn't necessarily being directed at him it's the constant will he or won't he be a first round pick? Will he participate in this drill or that drilll? When will he decide? How long will this be drawn out for? That's the kind of stuff I just want answers to and to be over with as quickly as possible so we can move on with recruiting someone or know we have our sg ready to go for next season. Diallo is so important because hes the only true sg we have who happens to be an excellent defender and can slash and drive at will to the basket

I think he's gone, but I think you'll hear something for sure within the next week. Remember that it's just a week of uncertainty for you, but it's a potentially multi-million dollar decision that profoundly impacts his entire future for him.

Have we ever heard in scrimmages how HD did in practice vs the starting 5?

Did he give anyone trouble when I a backcourt of HD, Hawkins & Mulder? Did Mulder guard Briscoe while HD took Monk? Would be interesting.

I hope you're right, and I wouldn't blame him if he did, what sucks though, isdnwe wereNewKnox and Vanderbilt can step in and play the two. Shai who is 6'4 can play the two as wel. I'm not expecting a ton of playing time out of him but baker could play a big role for us since he can flat out shoot it from downtown. If he's hitting those it will be hard for cal to take him out even though he is a 3-4 yr player

under the impression he would join the team, wftellllllllgot the combiime.'to see what he needed to get better at and then return for and

Hope his attitude changes if he comes back. Well see. Just a guessing game now fellas.
He has a bad attitude? Um seems like a great kid who is good friends with Knox, Green, and Washington by all accounts great kids as well. So where is this coming from not arguing wondering if this is opinion or something I have missed. Cant be his decision to test the waters been well documented that this has always been the plan. I know that I read about it when he signed in Jan

Where did I say he has a bad attitude? It has always been his plan to "test the waters". Not sure why that is a shock to some people.

Oh ok. Just if you had of said hope his attitude changes and he comes back I could grasp that meaning he doesn't have a bad attitude. So if he comes back u hope his attitude changes to what? And wouldn't you wanting it to change indicate you don't like it and therefore think it's bad?
