UofL In Deep Doo-Doo... Tim Sullivan: Former infractions chair says Louisville faces high bar.

To put in perspective the combo U of L penalty and 'My Dad whooped my ass' thread: the worst ass whipping I ever got was when I stuffed washcloths down the back of my pants to ease the pain of the ass whipping my Mom assured me I was gong to get once the old man got home { I had laughed at her when she got mad at me. Her face just changed from mad to hurt, and she said those magic words 'wait until your father gets home'}.

Well, Dad commenced to whipping, I squirmed to get away and those washcloths started falling out. His face had already been reddish from me taunting Mom, but now his whole damned head turned a fine shade of blazing inferno red. He lit me up like a candle.

So I never tried to get out of what I had coming again.

U of L snubbed their noses at the NCAA over the Hurtt deal and has tried in every way to wriggle out of what they have coming over the whores, believing that they could get away with anything they wanted. . They're not going to though. They're going to take a beating they'll always remember.

I heard that UL's not going to get a chance to meet with the appeals committee and they are p*ssed about it. And reading that article I see why...... and its because its not a second hearing as the former member mentioned.

Where did you see this? Don't they have a right to appeal?

In any case, I believe I read that there are two woman on the appeals committee. #theymad

Why do you assume it is full of rogue people looking to save UofL's ass?

I'm not assuming anything. I am saying it is possible 3 of the people on the committee could be rogue, swayed, or a combination of both. If it was anybody but UL, their corrupt nature of having endless money to spend and ability to have others join their corruptness is there to possibly deal with.

It has probably been posted somewhere but just to lazy to go back and see but when is the FINAL decision coming down by the NCAA ?

Obviously I understand wanting to appeal because no one wants to be stripped of a title, nevertheless be the first program in NCAA history to have this done to them. It's the argument they are putting forward that is questionable. "Unjust" and "grossly disproportionate". There are records of these parties taking place during a specific time frame. Women were paid to perform sexual acts on potential recruits as a way to entice them to sign with the school. Doesn't matter if they were good looking or not, it happened. The argument from some of their fans that the women weren't that attractive and some of the recruits didn't even want anything from them doesn't seem to make a difference. Like I pointed out on their board if a recruit was given a car by a booster, got caught and tried to argue that it's not an issue because he doesn't really like the car, that doesn't change the fact that it was still a benefit given to him simply because of the program's desire to lure him to the school.

The fans also arguing that they punished themselves with the postseason ban and that should grant some leniency from the NCAA is illogical as well. If you commit a crime and turn yourself in the lead detective doesn't come up and say "You know what? I respect you for taking ownership of your actions. We aren't even gonna book you. Here's a five. Go get yourself a drink on us!"

To me, the self imposed ban is just an admission of guilt and an attempt to try and skid any real punishment from the NCAA. I would come down harder as a committee member of the NCAA if a school did that because it is so transparent.

The program had someone on staff who paid for escorts to perform sexual acts on recruits inside of a campus dorm. If Pitino knew about this, he should be fired. If he didn't know, for a guy who claims to know everything about his players down to every little specific, this is a massive hit to that reputation of his attention to the program and should be looked at as lack of institutional control.

It really shouldn't have gone any further than that. Either way I think the banner comes down and stays down. UNC is then next on the chopping block.

Just to add to that, it's not as if the coaching staff discovered this and reported it to the NCAA. They only self imposed the penalties after they couldn't stop the book from coming out. They were so sorry... that they got caught.

It's foolish to predict what a committee might do, but i don't think that's a good group if you're a Louisville fan. One college athletics guy (the erstwhile AD at Vandy), a lawyer, and two female college administrators. If you're picking a jury for this one, you definitely want no women on the jury, and especially no women from college campuses. You want a bunch of old college ADs, guys who might be sympathetic, who might think "I need to go easy on these fellas in case I'm ever in a position of being judged."

Anyway, just a flat out guess, I think they reduce some of the financial penalties and affirm the taking of the banners.....

So amusing the difference in attitude between UL, NCAA and the general public. Post season ban versus wiping out all wins and the banner. It would seem they would have been better off showing at least some remorse for their unethical, immoral and cheating behavior instead of their no big deal attitude. The more stories written, on their attitude alone, across the country the better.

Looking back on it now kinda funny dad would make me get my own switch and I'd better get a good one

David Williams (the Vandy "AD") is also an attorney.

No but that's how I learned to run in a circle as fast as I can to lessen the blow! If track and field had a 3 meter hurdles I'd have a gold medal.

Wow, your dad was lenient! Mine would have gone off on me for avoiding punishment!

As long as we're telling stories....When my dad was a kid, attending a one-room school in Rowan County, the teacher would ask him to go out and cut a switch to administer corporal punishment. One day he went and got a dry one, cut rings around it with his knife. When the teacher whacked the kid it broke into about 10 pieces and flew all over the schoolhouse. I'm guessing he was next.

@Steelers2012 ???

Very good post. Each UL fan (hey y'all! ) should read this at least 43 times. Eat it up ya know ? This post (and many others in the thread ) basically lay it out exactly... as to why the title (was) VACATED. I know it sucks. I know it sucks for the legit / nice (few and far between but still ) UL fans but... I mean it is what it effing is. Pretty sure like no other fan base or even media etc is on board with UL / fans reasons for "appeal" they look absolutely foolish.
All this extra "they weren't attractive!" bS is absolutely desperate. It's pitiful really .

At the end of the day

UL coaching staff/ athletics dept --- provided and paid for hookers for

Underage recruits
Team players.

Literally provided prostitutes for 4 years. It's very open and shut.

They will forever be tarnished . Sure, I think UL will eventually "move past" this , so to speak. I don't think their doomed to NIT's for the rest of time. But this will and has hurt them. They will forever be the ONLY bball team to have a title VACATED. Not only that , loosing all those wins knocks them right out of the top 20 in all time wins. That's GOTTA make people 77 different ways of salty.

Let's hope that's not true. Let's hope that they will soon be joined by one of their conference brethren.

I'm no lawyer and I'm certainly wrong enough but I didn't really see anything in their appeal that was actionable. The article and the NCAA site clearly shows 4 avenues for appeal.
1. The COI had to misunderstand a fact and a pertinent fact I would assume. That didn't happen, 3 more chances.
2. The facts don't show a violation of rules. Haha, nope, 2 more chances.
3. There was a procedural error that caused the outcome. Nope, last one.
4. The COI abused its discretion. This is really all UL is trying to say happened but that bar sounds really really high. UL admits players were "technically" ineligible. Once they are ineligible, the rest is the natural outcome of playing ineligible athletes. 68 pages of spin doesn't change that. I can't see any way on earth the appeals committee reverses anything for UL, not a thing.

So, then, what are the odds UL files suit agianst the NCAA. I say 0.0001%.

UL is like the child of a parent that ran a home business and sat around all day playing Madden, among other video games, and smoked weed all day. That's the example that was set for UL therefore this is what you get. Prositutes, cash, shady arena deals, etc. Jurich and Pitino have led the way and set the example. They are that parent that plays video games all day and smokes weed because they can't hack it in the real world. Pitino/Jurich's children, in this case, Andre McGee, is the one that messes up. But look at McGee's example. Look what he had to look up to. Jurich and Pitino are absolute scum/bums, and it's no wonder he went off course. It's pitiful really, and you almost feel sorry for the child who's dad is a bum and lays around at the house all day smoking weed and playing video games

I'd be shocked if they don't,UL deserves far more than loss of games and banners,be grateful you low moral scum that UL didn't get hit harder for being a remorseless cesspool.Never seen such low life excuses for fans that are not upset about the blatant cheating, only that they got caught.

They should be banned from tv for about three years. That loss of revenue will make them think harder. We got it for far less.

UofL's appeal reminds me of a case I appealed to the KY Supreme Court. I took over a case for a client who had lost all the way up because his first lawyer missed the statute of limitations.

I had to write a brief trying to explain how the lower court was wrong while knowing full well my client was screwed more than Chane Behanan at a Minardi Party. Hardest damned thing I ever had to write. I imagine counsel for UofL has the same feeling about now. Putting effort into something you know you can't win is hard to do.
