Under What Circumstance Would You Become Interested in an IU/UK Renewal?

Why would we want to play Indiana? There's way better teams and programs that will attract fans

We have
UNC
Kansas
Louisville
UCLA
Usually a Mich State

Teams I'd want before Indiana
Arizona
Gonzaga
Butler
Duke
Notre Dame
Michigan
Heck even FSU
I would like an IU matchup because of Archie. However , you really do make a good point.

My guess is the IU matchup will come because Cal likes the Miller family. That's if Archie wants it . He may not for a few years.

He is the best young game coach around. also best young motivator. HOWEVER It is yet to be determined if he can recruit at the highest level and if he can "manage" that kind of talent. Will be interesting to see how he does.

I just don't understand why people keep saying we don't need them.

We don't need Duke or UNC, but we look forward those games. We don't need U of L, but we look forward to that.
Even when IU or U of L are down, it's a fun game to look forward to.

I'd love to see 2 neutral site games over the next 2 years.

There are a number of programs I would like to see UK schedule over the course of the next 5 years on a one time, prime time event, neutral site basis, or short term 2 year home and home as opposed to committing to something more long term.

Would love to see something worked out with Arizona, Gonzaga, Wichita St in Dallas and Xavier, Butler in Indy. Maybe get the women's programs involved like the double header we had with Baylor.

.

Screw IUsedtobe. BUT if Cal decided to renew it, make it a 5-year deal... 4 years at Rupp and 1 year at a neutral site... like Atlanta. [winking]

From your list, I'd go Gonzaga. Beat them and stop them from plugging up one of the #1 seed spots.

Oh... and a televised public apology from IU's Prez & AD before the start of each game.

A UK guy that knows what he's talking about. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Neutral court. This year proved that Kentucky doesn't even get a fair whistle at home.. so I have NO desire to play ANY big team at their home as we don't get the same benefit.

We aren't going to put Kentucky in some lose/lose scenario either.. by playing a lesser team. We win, we were supposed to. We lose, OMG!!

Neutral court and a team of our stature.
I hate any home and home series.. And I never want another series with IU..

and IU fans would have to sing along together a song that goes a little something like this:

"Oh the sun shines bright on UK because they are so much better than us, a good year for us is top 5 in our own state. We haven't been relevant in a coon's age. We've butt fumbled multiple coaching hires. One of our own home grown sons wants nothing to do with us because of our incompetence. MSU, UM, Wisconsin, and even NW have all become more relevant and competitive in the B10 since we ran Knight out of town, and even Illinois made it to the title game. We can't name an IU player of note or a decent one in the pros. Coach Cal is the best and we all secretly love him, he's not a cheater we just say that to help us sleep at night because we know he's so much better. Again, we can't stress how important it is to realize UK is better."

i just like that they got a coach and they are so excited they've been coming over to rr to show it. no one here really cares about their excitement from what i can see. they want to see if they are worthy now i guess.

NO.

Because Indiana hasn't been relevant in forever. It's like being given a VCR today and someone expecting you to be excited.

Let's look at the success of those teams you mentioned vs Indiana. Keep in mind Indiana hasn't been to an elite 8 since 1993 and a final four since 1992.

UNC (2nd biggest program ever behind us)
Final Fours-93,95,97,98,00,05,08,09,16,17
Titles- 93,05,09
Elite 8 losses-07,11

Duke
Final Fours-94.99.01,04,10,15
Titles-01,10,15
Elite 8 losses-98,13

Louisville
Final Fours-05,12,13
Titles- 13
Elite 8 losses-97, 08,09, 15

Indiana hasn't been as far as any of these programs since 1993.

There's way better and more fun relevant teams than dealing with Indiana or their fans.

and live over there.

Sadly, there is no need to restore this series. That train left the station years ago.

Horse Sh*t! Half my family settled along the Ohio (both sides). Those unfortunate enough to be born on the North are good for nothing, lowdown, belly dragging, stinking, Hoosier Neanderthals. They can't help it, they're genuine natural born on the other side. Tune in to gut burning family disdain. We should pound their miserable butts into the floor every time it's legal. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.

Check 2002 Final Four. When you edit your post, I will delete this.

No no no no. They help us in ABSOLUTELY NO WAY. one of the most dangerous and serious incidents I have ever seen happened in Assembly Hall in the 12 season. Never even think of playing them again. I would play Michigan, Villanova, Duke, Arizona and numerous others before IN

Under no circumstances. Why reward their fans and program after the way they treated our fans the last time we played them at home? They were totally out of control.

There's recently been a flare up on the board here from some IU fans trying to blow the ember into flame. It's been a ping pong match, so is there any circumstance you'd support it's renewal?

No circumstance whatsoever. None. Zip. Nada. And, no offense meant, but I'm kind of weary of this always coming up...forget them and move on with life.

Indiana put us out of the tournament last year. They got off to an amazing start this year, beating UNC and Kansas. They had a season marred in injuries. But if they hadn't, they're potentially making a run.

But you're holier than thou attitude toward them is overdone. They had a good team at the start of the year. We would have played them in the non-conference as a very good team. They potentially could have beaten us.

We play a lot of teams from smaller conferences like Cleveland State or that we know we're going to crush. IU made the tourney 4/6 years, one of the missed years clearly marred in injuries. Even if you say that they're not an elite team, do we really only schedule teams that make the Final 4? No!

Only in a dome or where a regional NCAA would be played. Either as suggested above in INDY every year with a fifty fifty ticket split at either Banker or Lucas or one year there and one at YUM! if that can be worked out without UL sharing one dime in the proceeds.
'
I hate to say this but I firmly believe Archie will win one or two NCAA championships in the next decade. He is by far the best young coach out there. I was hoping he would wait until Cal left. He will run a class program and while I don't like it they are back.

CAM hasn't coached the first game for IU and you are already saying IU is back ? I'll need more proof before I believe that (such as winning 1 or 2 NCAA tournaments). :boom:

None really. I think the justice in this is they want it yet they were the fans acting like they were nuts. Again, we don't need the game. I don't miss it. In fact, I rarely think about Kentucky playing Indiana in years past. Only when someone brings it up. Just not a big deal to me or most fans I know.

We offered that and IU wanted no part of it. I'm against a Bloomington site more than IU. Their administration, security and fans adequately demonstrated what a minor league program they have allowed themselves to become when acting as a host team.

Wouldn't want the series back at all. Their treatment of UK fans the last time we played at their place still leaves me angry, the way they treated kids and elderly fans, throwing rocks at UK cars, intimidating UK fans in restaurants. There are good rivalries and then there is IU. Nothing to be gained by playing them and I, for one, don't care to ever deal with fans such as theirs who take it to such an obnoxious level over a basketball game.

If you're going to do it then it has to be neutral site only. Their fan base in Assembly Hall is too unpredictable and it becomes dangerous for UK fans to enter.

Have it at Yum and have it in Indy. it was once a fun series and when IU is a good program it's a solid chance at a good OOC win. Just like Kansas, Duke, Mich St, etc...

He'll probably be lucky to make 1 Final 4 in the next decade much less win two titles.

Nothing to gain by playing and beating iu. They used to be significant, but no more.

The only benefit of going to bloomington is that it is near Nashville, Ind.

I'd like a round robin of neutral court games. Nashville, Indy, Freedom Hall, St. Louis. Both fan bases would flock to the games no matter the game
