UK's schedule in Toronto

This is a U23 event so Shaedon Sharpe could technically play for Team Canada.

Wouldn't that be something.
Somebody else prob already said this so if they have I apologize but get there early if he was there you will not won't to miss these warm-ups. Get there early.

I've never heard that as the reason for Maui. Can you provide a quote?
Well it's true, Google it. He specifically stated he didn't want his young team playing back to back games. Why do you think we haven't been back to Maui? They've begged us to comeback. We didn't and or play in things like Battle for Atlantis or the Nike Hoopfest. Exactly 0 tournaments since the 2010-2011 Maui which we'd been signed up for before Cal got here.

Wait a minute. So, Calipari doesn't want to play in Maui or any other holiday tournaments because there are too many games in a short period of time. But, somehow it's OK to play 4 games in 5 days in Toronto during the summer?
SMH.
Cal obviously wants to be home for the holidays. And he knows his teams are never prepared, especially early in the season, to beat any teams with a pulse.

Actually, UK has a open invitation to play in Maui according to the folks who run that tournament.
Let's just say it...Calipari rarely knows what his team is going to look like 6 months in advance, much less a couple of years. Which, is the lead time necessary to planning future tournaments like the Maui Invitational.
And, these tournament games are usually played in the week leading up to Thanksgiving and are the premier basketball events on TV. Calipari doesn't want to be exposed for the fraud he truly is by taking a UK team to Maui or some other high profile tourney and losing 3 straight games. Such a failure on national TV would do serious damage to the charade that he is a elite level coach.

  • USA vs. Germany – Wednesday, July 12 (1:30 p.m. ET)
  • USA vs. Canada – Thursday, July 13 (8 p.m. ET)
  • USA vs. Team Africa – Saturday, July 15 (1:30 p.m. ET)
  • Gold Medal session – Sunday, July 16 (8 p.m. ET)
Forgive my ignorance, haven't followed this close enough but with UK representing Team USA, is Ugonna going to be with them or representing Team Africa playing against us with Ugonna's citizenship as Nigerian. Would leave just Bradshaw in the front court as of today and hope there is nothing serious with the reports of a foot injury after the pro day.

I give Cal credit for his candor. Not many coaches would admit to avoiding Maui because his team was not up to the competition. He also acknowledges that he schedules for the players, not for the fans. You can't accept compensation of $10 million a year, disregard the interests of the university and the fan base, play ugly basketball to start the year, eventually lose to inferior teams, and expect fans to fill Rupp. Loyalty is a two way street.
