I’m just tired, I have watched teams with a fraction of the resources and fan support Kentucky has make it further because they have actual coaches. I have no inside info but I guarentee cal told Barnhart this recruiting class will get us back to where Kentucky needs to be, when in reality it is a below average class at best. The man literally said after he lost Thursday that he want changing, and our AD and the people making the decision said yep let’s bring that back. Barnhart need to go, this whole athletic department needs a reset.
We're all drained. It's tiring. Here's the thing-Cal actually had some great Freshmen in Rob/Reed. He played them on the damn bench all year. I mean WTF??

My issue is this with Cal....he's changed staff several times over....he actually made a hire that I think universally was liked and impact was seen with Welch this year--he did a great job with player development and some offensive impact/improving shooting, etc... and then Cal goes to "Twin Towers" against Oakland when your season is on the line and that was a pathetic response to a coach "daring him to go big" by openly and honestly stating Kentucky has no big men that scare us and we can beat them because of that.

Of this year's class--I love Boogie Fland and Jayden Quaintance. Billy Richmond is a guy who can be an excellent addition in terms of versatility and toughness. Somto is an SEC type of big but nothing that is going to dominate a game. Think he's an upgrade in terms of defensively but offensively crude. Karter Knox is someone I'd like if he was a program player for 2/3 yrs-we all know he'll be 1 and done in his mind. He's awful when you try and play through him. He's a 4th/5th option contributor. Travis Perry is an elite shooter but not an elite athlete or ball handler. I think SEC speed will bother him but he can shoot the damn ball.

So what is needed? Experienced talent. I'd not have pushed for Knox personally. Would've let him go to USF or stay in OTE another year.

If Cal leaves-hit re-set button and get someone in ASAP because you need to get the Portal going and hope that guy has attachment to recruits too. Be it his own he signed where he was or somewhere. This can't drag out.

If you keep Cal--this roster is going to have 6 FR--and of the 6--I think 2 are impactful where they can contribute immediately at a level that is winning basketball--Fland and Quaintance. Fland is an actual PG that has been lacking for some time and I'd have as a top 10 player in this class. Quaintance is an exceptionally talented frontcourt player I'd have in top 5 of this class and lean towards top 3. Richmond is the wildcard but think he can help off the bench. Now who do you keep? Who do you bring in? The rest of this class isn't elite at all.

May be right, if Barnhart isn't ready to stop beating that dead horse named Calipari

The money isn't there. That's why Cal's will be back. I've been saying it since yesterday and get nothing but laughing emojis, but a $33 million buyout at a public university, even if it can be offset and paid over time, just isn't happening.
The. Fine. Barnhart should be out on his ass tomorrow.

I really like fland and quantaince the others just seem like projects or players that won’t be huge contributors. I would want cal to add to shooters scores in the reeevs mold or that can create and shot. Also to add a solid frontcourt piece, but I don’t trust cal to do that. My fear is since they were terrible this year defensively he will pivot and look for athletes instead of skillsets and shooting and we will be right back at square one.

A lot of things should happen that won't unfortunately. Barnhart should probably have been gone a while ago. He was really late embracing NIL, handled the Cal/Stoops thing poorly, and has next to zero relationship with the head basketball coach. Blame Cal for part of that, but the AD shouldn't let that happen.

I think he's just as much to blame for the state of the program as Cal is. We laugh when Cal says things like the facilities need to be upgraded, but if there's one guy who knows what needs to be there to sell the program to recruits and transfers it's Cal. Didn't Cal basically come with money already raised from former players for upgrades and Mitch didn't want anything to do with it? And this is the guy who's supposed to pick the next coach? I have zero faith in any decision he makes.

Well the timing with Drew probably couldn’t be worse if he was to be Mitch’s guy. He signed a new deal which don’t mean much, but I bet a hefty buyout is now part of his new deal.
The Louisville guys were saying tonight Drew hasn’t signed the deal yet he just agreed to it, but yeah I think Drew is probably a longshot to coach here

I believe it. Odds are that Cal returns.
I knew it when Matt jones made that tweet today. I told everyone what was about to happen. The Calipari crew would be all over social media. Next stories are going to leak out that he’s motivated more than ever, he’s going to change, shit like that. They are going to do whatever it takes to persuade people to be on board with it

I’m not falling for it. I don’t care who stays, I don’t care who they bring in, I don’t care about loses and I don’t care about wins. Unless they are in the ncaa tournament. So long as Calipari is coach..

No matter what happens, the fans have to find a way to get behind the team. The fanbase is a big part of the Kentucky program. I don’t know how we are expected to muster up any positivity if he returns and if he leaves I don’t know how we muster the patience for what may come. No more infighting. No more finger pointing. At the end of the day we all want the same thing.

Of course the staff called everyone and said that stuff..... because Mitch hasnt made his decision yet and that is 100% fact, they have not had a meeting yet and when they do, you'll hear it from sources you'd expect it to come from and not rando's on facebook or twitter.

Barnhart might end up being a beotch like always but as of right now, Barnhart hasnt made his decision and the proof is that the usual sources would have let us know by now so Cal and staff are just blowing smoke to the players/recruits so they dont risk losing them in case there is a years 16

if we lose to Duke and probable ... 95% chance we will in the champions classic......... the negativity will be just as bad as it has been these past 2 days and the downards spiral begins ......... frustration, anger, negativity of fans who have no faith in Cal will shroud the team, which always has negative effects on team performance... which leads to even more from the fans......

I doubt Mitch has even reached out to his insiders who to possibly replace Cal. I think he's shaking in his shoes right now

Cal is stubborn, all top coaches are. Plus, he's Italian. He holds the power right now. Thre is no way he is going to just let the Craft's have their way. So there is no negotiation.

Mitch would have to pull the trigger. I personally don't think he has the coconuts to fire a HoF coach. We could debate the reasons all summer. But Mitch is a figure head. His staff has always done great work, which he happily gets credit for. But on the few occasions where the arrow points to him for action, he has fumbled the ball nearly every time.

It all depends on Barney. The money is there if they want to fire Cal, and it won’t have to come from UK Athletics.
That's exactly what I've been saying for a while now. The President and Board of Trustees (Directors) have said they will support whatever Mitch decides. They haven't pushed the issue in the past because they're more concerned with academics than basketball. And the players have stayed out of trouble, (rape, murder, grand theft😆) therefore keeping UK out of the headlines and not tarnishing UK's reputation.l

I’m not going out of my way to watch any game next year with cal as HC unless reed were to return. Without reed I’ll watch here and there. Definitely won’t waste time going if I’m in Lexington next year.

If this dipshit administration brings Cal back after the past 4 lackluster to disaster-prone seasons, I am not going to give UK basketball one second of my time. I'm not going to watch or listen to games. I'm not going to follow recruiting or transfers. I'm just going to pretend the program doesn't exist. Cal is a train wreck and nothing good is going to happen while he remains here. So there is no point in even caring if they bring this clown back. If and when they finally stop being cowards and fire this damn guy, then I'll renew my interest in what's going on. But there simply isn't any point in following what goes on as long as Cal is here. We know what is going to happen before it happens. I've got better things to do with my time.

This admin has a choice: Make a change and hope to breath some life and energy back into this program, or they can stick with Cal and have most of the fan base simply tune out until he's gone.

If that happens it has to be under a renegotiated contract like what we discussed in another thread. It just has to. There is no damn way they can run this back again under the terms that currently exist. The fanbase is pissed off and nobody’s buying it. If $33M is too much this year then $25M will probably be too much next year as well. And you can see it now….we come out and lose again in the Champions Classic. Cal goes into the press conference and talks about how young we are. And then you have a full fledged fan revolt and the most toxic environment we’ve ever seen for a college basketball season. Because under current terms there would still be no end in sight. Mitch can not let it happen. He just can’t.

A——Are you talking about Wildcat Country? Because that is a really pathetic and Cal-cultic group.

B——Cal and Mitch are slated to have their face to face meeting today, Palm Sunday and you can believe that it will be their first since they don’t talk.

THEREFORE even if the reported information is not an outright fabricated lie, it is certainly not “true” because the decisions about Cal’s future haven’t been made yet. At very most, something like this would be Cal unilaterally trying to gain some sort of leverage by telling the recruits he will be back when that’s not even for him to say officially, and daring the university to call his bluff.

If it's announced that Cal is coming back next year, things are going to be wild in the bluegrass for the next year. I know zero people in real life that want Cal back. 99% of this fanbase is done with this dude. It will be toxic AF and won't end well.
And if you think that’s toxic, imagine him fighting to stay thru 2029.🤮

Barnhart is not from KY and football is more important to him. He don’t understand. A basketball coach averaging over 20 wins a season is good enough for him imo
He may be awful with contracts, but being football-focused is a great thing. Basketball-only ADs are poison.

Just hire a competent basketball coach who cares more about UK than the NBA, and the rest is gravy.

it really means nothing

its recruiting 101. If you have a media firestorm of people saying the coach needs to be fired, in today's world you have to assure recruits and existing players, otherwise they are going to jump to NIL money being offered.

Whether Cal returns or not, this was a move that had to be done give the embarrassing loss and incompetent coaching on display in front of the entire world - rivals see an opportunity

There’s zero doubt in my mind that the Oakland coach made it known that he wanted to play us because he knows the officials absolutely hate Calipari and things would go his way if they kept it close. That’s my biggest reason for wanting him gone…. We’ll NEVER be allowed to win another title under Cal.

All this is happening right before Calipari is about to land his best class since the Fox/Monk/Bam class - Dybantsa, Thomas, Acuff, Johnson, and Wilson.

I could see a scenario where he coaches at UK one more season, and then takes those guys with him to a lesser school, bringing a second year Quaintance with him as well.

I don't write that because I want Calipari to stay, but it would be Cal's middle finger to BBN. He'd leave us in ashes the same way he left Memphis in ashes.

Transfer portal and right coach says otherwise. Back then the only thing you had was standard recruiting class. I’m ready to sacrifice the now for excitement for the future.
