UK Commitments Michael Warren and Hudson Visiting Michigan State

Should be a good game to watch. I believe they are coming to the UF @ UK game. Hopefully we put on a better show.

I hate Michigan State, they can't sell their program so instead have to use negative recruiting against us. They are the ones who were telling guys that Marrow was going to leave(before Michigan tried to grab him) and that we weren't going to be a winning program. It worked on a couple guys but most recruits can see through their lies.

As long as we win our fair share of football games this year, we can view kids taking these trips as enjoying the ride, and by that I mean specifically trips to East Lansing. Lexington has a lot more going for it than East Lansing, I can assure you. All other things being equal, a kid will pick UK and Lexington 9/10 over East Lansing, MI, Morgantown, WV, or similar.

I look at the future at UK on the OLine and I think there are a bunch of RBs that would be excited to get the ball behind that group. And, I think we will be putting DLine players into the NFL again this year, as we did last year. These are two positions where UK is doing very well.

Why even commit then??? Why take visits if you already committed elsewhere...nice character.

Michigan State is a Top 10 program and has been for several years. That in and of itself is alluring to prospects.

No kidding? My point is that if we win our fair share of SEC football games, we do not have to apologize for NOT being MSU, and then the question becomes what looks like a better collegiate environment, etc. If that is the case, I struggle to understand kids choosing to live in the dump that is East Lansing, even if the campus provides an oasis of sorts.

15-20 years ago that might have been the norm. But in todays recruiting world, thanks to people like you and me and everyone else who post or read these sites and wait to hear the latest update on every kid our team is recruiting that isn't the case any longer. Early committments means you lead at the time and the kid has reserved a spot in your class with the option of changing his mind if something better comes alone. So you have to keep recruiting them just like they are not committed. UGA has 17 commits for the 16 class, all but one has taken official/unofficial visits to other schools. It sucks, causes a lot of stress, but the only alternative in today's world is to recruit kids no one else wants. From the kids point of view, you are treated like royalty for a weekend, you are escorted around campus by pretty girls, students chanting your name, who wouldn't like that. Recruiting is cutthroat, you are either the cutter or the cuttee.

Ridiculous, MSU has won the Outback, Rose and Cotton Bowl in the last four seasons. That alone sells almost any program.

I like the take of some of the other posts - would you rather us recruit kids that no one else wants like Joker, and to a lesser extent, Brooks did? Or would you rather be going head to head against probably the 2nd best program in the Big 10?

Agreed. While East Lancing may be a lousy town they've been able to sell their program to a lot of good football players therefore they've had a lot of success. Obviously UK has to win games but they may not be enough in some cases.

The only time I worry about a commit visiting other schools is if it is Transfer U or Thug U, and if they visit them my main worry is about their character. And if they commit to them, good riddance.

They're also playing Oregon, and Gameday will be there. Will be a fun day and a good game.

Agreed. Long way between now and NSD 2017. Not gonna sweat this unless and until they start taking additional trips to East Lansing later in the fall and winter, etc.

then why do they feel the need to negatively recruit? Surely they can beat lowly UK straight up.

I agree with your first sentence - but, until we start actually winning more games than we lose, we aren't on the same level of Michigan State.

Early signing period... Aug 15th at the latest.
If there were an early signing period UK wouldn't have Boom or the 6'4" cb who started his first college game. If they had chosen to sign, and that's anyone's guess,. UK brings in committed kids, UGA brings in committed kids, everyone does.

The last thing I want my coaches doing 2 weeks before the opening game is doing in home visit worrying about signing day. If we end up with one I really hope it isn't in August. After all the actual season is what really matters.

June is a dead period for football, have it then. But really, what percentage of top kids are going to sign and pass up being treated like a king by multiple colleges, nothing to gain for them. Now I think lower ranked kids will jump at the chance to play P5 ball.

I think it will slow down the pace offers are given, who wants a class with 25 2 and 3 star kids? I think it could actually hurt programs like UK who put out lots of offers early and get in on kids first, coaches will have to be very selective.

Fine with me. Folks just deal with it, we are recruiting great talent who are gonna be pursued by lots of other schools. Especially now that our staff has developed a reputation as sharp talent evalulators.

go ahead Mich State, negative recruit your asses off like you did the Dowell twins. This time you won't have a UK losing season to back up your bad talk about us/little positive talk about yourselves.

That's one of the reasons I don't get excited about "commits" that verbal two years out.

I'll be very upset if they pull some Dowell twins on us. Very excited about these two guys and I have a feeling Warren is gonna hear from a lot of the big guys before its all said and done.

Theyll try and say anything they can to get them to think differently of Kentucky. I hate that staff. Hilarious how they conduct themselves considering their policy on their own commits taking other visits

who the hell would want to play football outside in freezing cold Michigan. never understood that.

warren's family is originally from hoptown i believe. so he's not as much an ohio kid as he is a KY kid living in ohio. i think we hold on to him especially if we get a couple big wins this year.

Yea, we're really killing Mich. States recruitment of Ohio..... Ohio State and Kentucky owns Ohio now... The rest of the big 10 will be down playing UK as much as possible...

Michigan State v Oregon should be a fun one. I'd visit if I had the means too hahaha. Good for them. August of next year, start getting serious about the 2017 class. As of now, just follow and enjoy, don't freak out about every visit, it's gonna happen a lot when you get commitments this far out from signing day.

I wouldn't get bent out of shape. I read they were having 300 recruits there this weekend. That means less that 1/6 of the people there will ever even get an offer.
