Tulane and Sumrall @ Charlotte, Thursday, Oct 31, 7:30E, ESPN

Unfortunately UK still has a segment of its fan base that would rather lose 45-42 than win 20-17.
Interesting.
I personally have NEVER met a UK football fan who wanted to lose a game. PERIOD!!

I HAVE met several who, IF WE ARE GOING TO LOSE ANYWAY, they would RATHER lose 45-42 than to LOSE 20-17.

Why? Because it gets really discouraging as a UK football fan to know going into the game that if your opponent scores 21 points (usually in the first quarter against good teams), that you don't have an offense or an offensive minded coach who can score MORE than 21 points the ENTIRE GAME.

In other words, if a team scores more than 20 point against us, game over.

Enough of that crap. Bring in a coach that is at least WILLING to try and score with the top teams, whether we can or not.

I got over moral victories a long time ago, and I believe most other UK football fans have also.

Playing modern offense is not that hard. You just have to hire a coach that WANTS to be good on offense and that side of the ball can change in year one.

(See Mark Pope and UK basketball).

Time for change at UK football.

I like Sumrall but he's not the tops of my list. I want to win games more than anything. I don't care about the offensive style but I would like to be entertained by scoring points not just FG's.

Stein’s dad played at UK if I read correctly a week or so ago. Sumrall as HC and Stein OC.
Stein’s dad played for UK, Will Stein played for UofL. I used to work for his uncle. Why would Will leave Oregon to come be OC at UK? He has all the tools at Oregon to parlay that into a P4 Head Coaching gig. More realistically I could see Neal Brown getting canned at WVU and coming back to be the OC here, though I think Browns HC resume isn’t so awful that a school like Tulane or along those lines could take a flyer on him.

Me too. Unfortunately, so do several high level college programs and a couple of pro teams as well. I am afraid that UK's name would be very far down on a long list. Can't hurt to try though.
Frankly, I don't see why any OC would want to come to UK given a choice. As long as Stoops is the head coach, you are very unlikely to succeed and will likely be fired in short order.

Will Stein as next HC not OC. No way he would come to be just OC.

Will is on a success track - at least he has been so far. But if you line up the resume's of Will and Jon. There is a huge difference. Jon IS a successful head coach with multiple stops now. Will has one year of OC experience under his belt - but at a really good program of course. Jon's resume towers over Will's - but that is an age and experience thing. You go for the experience first - but Will would absolutely be a wild care hire - in reality a lot like Hal Mumme was at the time. I say that - as he is unproven as a head coach.

Go Big Blue!
