Good for Tubby! I hope he gets the job and does well. Nice to see him enjoy a few years and then go out on good terms. Maybe be can go home gain.
Yea hopefully at high point they're more laid back than national basketball programs who expect a return on 10's of million dollars.
He still has a better job than you.Yeah,whatever. Amazing fall from grace.
Looking down the road: where'd he go to high school? It's his alma mater. Cool way to close out a career I think.

You are a piece of work dude.

It's his alma mater but it's crazy to go from Kentucky down to that.
.
Doubtful, Highpoint is prolly a top 400 basketball coaching job in this country. That's why he makes a ton more money than you do.Likely, but not for sure. I bet Im better at my job.

Coach Smith and I are close friends we talkhttps://www.commercialappeal.com/st...igers-buyout-penny-hardaway-buyout/415600002/
The 6 years came originally from the Commerical Appeal.
How many programs is the Tubster allowed to bring to mediocrity in his whole life during a less than average career? He's a basketball coach, that's his calling and what he's done his whole life.
I agree. I think High Point would be the best place to anoint Saul as HC when Tubby retires. If I had the chance to take a laid back job at my alma mater and semi-retire while still doing what I love, I would jump on it. He's got enough money, it's about peace and quiet now.
Good for Tubby, I wish I could be so lucky.

Often he told me 3 years
If impacting young peoples lives was his motivation, he could be teaching gym and coaching some high school kids for 50K a year, and nobody'd say a word. When a university pays him 100X that much, it's expected that exceptional effort (both on the recruiting front as well as coaching them up) is going to be given toward winning ball games. To me the 'impacting young lives' dog don't hunt.Impacting young peoples lives>>>> than basketball.
Tubby is a class act.
Sorry about your dead dog....If impacting young peoples lives was his motivation, he could be teaching gym and coaching some high school kids for 50K a year, and nobody'd say a word. So if he takes the High Point job, or any other, does he get to keep all of the Memphis buy out money?
Usually when a coach takes a buyout, then takes a new job while under the terms of the buyout, any money paid by the new coaching gig comes off the tab owed by his first employer.Memphis owes Tubby $9,000,000 payable over 3 years High Point ain’t got that kind of $$$
The pay that High Point will be a drop in the bucketUsually when a coach takes a buyout, then takes a new job while under the terms of the buyout, any money paid by the new coaching gig comes off the tab owed by his first employer.
You’d probably like itHow pathetic would it be if High Point fired him?

GG is married to a Doctor he won't miss any mealsFunny story.
GG Smith recently got fired from his head coaching job at Loyola MD. A few days later, I ran into one of the Associate AD's on campus (I work at Loyola) and we were talking about the upcoming search and I asked about GG. His direct quote, "Really nice guy, great family man, just couldn't get it done on the court". Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
