Trilly update on Lanier visit

So basically. No concerns will be tolerated. Because Pope played here 30 years ago, when I was in college, and had hair on my head. And that makes me feel fuzzy. When did this board turn into groupthink central?
No nitpicking a guy who has been here not even 2 months yet is ridiculous. If he has issues later on year one going on into year 2 there can and should be discussions

Them: “We NeEd A sTuD”

Me: We have the most efficient player from this past season.

Them: “If He WaS aNy GoOd WhY iSnT hE oN mOcK dRaFtS?”

Me: 🤦🏻‍♂️

You can’t make Calipari era fans understand, you don’t need an Anthony Davis type of star to win a title.
you need a couple nba guys that’s always been the case

I named several that we were told that were dudes that weren't.
None of those guys were on the level of the 2nd batch you mentioned. Post 2015ish, very, very few freshman have been alpha types anywhere. You had Zion, the kid ar Gonzaga a couple of years ago, maybe Brandon Miller, but I don’t know that he was an alpha type. There just haven't been many at all.

We need an experienced leader, who can take over a game in crunch time. Otherwise, we will just be average.
And that is the downfall of caliparis tenure in a nutshell. He didn't get the same high end quality of players here the 2nd half of tenure as the first for the most part.
Because they didn't really exist. There has been a massive diminshment in the freshman talent pool over the last decade.

It seemed for the first 5-7 years of Calipari’s tenure there was a glut of crazy insane talent…
Then it tapered way off. I think what we see now is the norm. That period between 2009-2015 was an exception.

Why would Lanier, Robinson, or anyone else consider Kentucky over Tennessee?

Coaches who won championships @ Kentucky: Rupp, Hall, Pitino, Smith, Calipari

Coaches Tennessee took to the final four: NONE

Coaches don't make Kentucky basketball. Kentucky basketball makes coaches. it's not in the coaches...it's Kentucky!

Any questions?

Robinson is more prepared for the P5 level and UK. The SEC and Big12 are very similar in terms of talent and competitiveness. Certainly moreso than the ASUN. Plus, he knows Pope's system already
I think Robinson is much more of a sure thing, having performed well in the Big 12 for Pope at BYU.
So he would be my preference of the two but I'd be thrilled with either one.

Just edit in the name of the coach of the 1998 champs and it will be a perfect post. Thanks

Uh, I'm assuming it was just an oversight to leave Smith off the list of coaches who have won titles here.

And the Cal worshippers need to come to the realization that not even a truckload of NBA draft picks guarantees you success in the post-season. You HAVE to have that experience (even if they're not all 4-5 stars) and a couple of transcendent players. Transcendent meaning that they're NOT predicted to be NBA All-Stars, but rather they possess some skill that really separates them from the others.

Sorry for the oversight. Thanks for those who caught the error. It has now been corrected. Further emphasizes the point. Also, of those 5 coaches, none have won championships at any other stops (given UL had to forfeit theirs under Pitino).

Don't need the big time stud to win in today's college game, and secondly the guy has barely been here a month. You guys are just PITIFUL!!!@@@
Please someone show me where a team in the modern era won the title without a couple nba guys. It doesn’t happen

I’m going off the sleepers media people saying they heard it’s Tennessee most likely
So are we to assume all of these guys who hear stuff have connections with literally every recruit?

I'm not buying it.

People are just guessing and playing the most logical angle - which is that the kid is from Tennessee; and that Tennessee led from the beginning (which they did); and that he's visiting them last.

Sleeper's Media doesn't know jack anymore than you or me. They're merely deducing an outcome, which is the same one I would have picked the second Chaz left Lexington without committing.

It doesn't mean Chaz is UT bound; it just means it's the most probable scenario.
