Transfers

McClain broke more tackles in one run than smoke has in his career. Plus he has much better vision and wiggle.

Smoke is great if he just gets to run to a hole because he lacks vision. That's why he so often just runs right into a defender. Unfortunately a zone scheme needs vision especially an eye for cutback lanes. He just doesn't have it.
Smoke has 20/20 vision.

After he did not make the field against NM or UL, the portal was a given.
And this was a guy I had big hopes for and put as my sleeper. Just never got a chance to really show it. I'll be keeping my eye on him to see what he does in his next stop. Think he may show out somewhere.

247 is reporting a Bama transfer is visiting UK. Does anyone know which one? They have 4 currently in the portal. An OT, LB, CB, and Safety, all four stars out of HS

Hoping it's Banks. There are a lot of good transfers in the portal at areas of need for UK.

Agreed, but....

If you have a chance to get a 4-5 star transfer from Bama, what position ISN'T an area of need? At the worst he makes your whole position group better and more competitive. At best they're All-SEC and help you reach the championship game.

No doubt, Williams is a WR, they may want one more, not sure. Bratton is LBer, not sure on inside or out. Prince is OT, he has committed to GT. Williams or Banks would be my guess but I agree, that's a good place to go shopping.

I guess we could use a transfer feature back, but I'm not sure he needs more than a couple of years eligibility. Wright and Moorman seem promising.

Just looked at the portal you could build a very competitive team with the players in the portal. There are 2 Ohio State LBs Stoops And Vince needs to look at. Miami Florida has guys at every position highly ranked in the portal.

Banks will be a good get for someone. He barely lost out on a starting role in the offseason and was passed up by a Freshman towards the end of the season who will likely be a 1st round pick after his Junior season. The 2 starting CB's next year are basically set in stone and we're likely bringing in 2 5-star CB's this class and there are 3 5-star CB's in the state of AL in 2023 and we're likely to get 2 of them. I think Banks sees the writing on the wall for his last 2 years. The reason for his lack of playing time isn't due to him not being talented.

VT QB Knox Kaddum just hit the portal. Go get him.
64% completion rate
7,400 yrds passing, 76 TDs, 15 interceptions
2,414 yrds rushing, 37 TDs
Led his Rome, Ga HS to back to back state titles.
Kid has raw talent but has never really got a shot because VTs dumbass OC cant develope QBs worth a damn and uses them as battering rams instead of QBs.

What linemen (offensive or defensive) are out there in the portal we might be associated with? All the talk is understandably about corners and wide receivers, but I would have to think we'd like to grab a couple of big, nasties too, if someone is available.

I think he will do fine someplace. Hard runner with good hands, from HS film. Never made the field at RB for the Cats.

He wasn't until CRod moved on. Same type of player IIRC. May have had a little better speed, but I can't swear to that either.

Plus to me told me he likely wasn't seeing the field as a RB at any point.

That's what was tweeted. Haven't seen anything else on it

Iirc he was moved to LB because we were shorthanded and he had experience, not because be wasn't a good running back.

I have been looking and nothing has been reported so far on lineman, probably a little early since most are just hitting the portal

Yes that was the message but I think they just verbalized half of the statement. We were thin but not that thin. Plus they only moved one guy over. Didn't move anyone with a shot at getting carries.

I like that we gave him a shot. Old ky would've needed to make his transition work. New KY just has too much talent to wait for projects. Imo another player that's victim of increased team talent

You would have to think they take a transfer RB if they can get one or at least sign one in this class.

Florida DL Khris Bogle entered the portal. I wonder if this is the SEC edge rusher Matt Jones was referring to when he said they will for sure get an edge rusher transfer from the SEC if he decides to enter the portal. Would be a great get.
The story on KSR mentions him as someone matt says they've contacted. To say he will def be a cat is prob a stretch. He said that about ricks and Evans also. Guess we will see how it plays out

That certainly looks like an interesting prospect. At 6-4 and 242 lbs, he would seem to be about ideal to play either of the OLB positions in a 3-4. And with a sub 4.7 forty, you'd think he'd make a helluva JACK.

That said, he hasn't exactly set the world on fire at Florida. But to his credit, he was playing for a DC that was fired and not getting it done, so maybe he just wasn't a good fir for Florida, or more specifically, Florida may not have been a good fit for him. Just based on his measurables, I'd certainly give him a very close look.
