Transfers

The few minutes I got to listen to KSR today, Matt Jones said his sources were saying that right now Kentucky seems to be in good shape with Zachary Evans.

He signed his LOI in May? What is the story with that?
I don't think this is true. He signed his LOI in Dec with UGA, then got released. I don't think you can sign two. He committed to TCU, very late, prob may, after he couldn't make a decision and a few teams dropped out after signing others

What is the latest on Zach Rogers from TCU?
It's Evans and he is quoted yesterday petitioning for TCU to hire Deion. Some sources say he's in the portal others say he is still with the team. Probably depends on who they hire if he leaves. I'd say it's a very long shot he transfers to UK

The kid committed to 3 different schools while in high school. Unless he is TOTALLY bought in, why bring him here?

What has Smoke shown to be "clearly a SEC quality back"?

- Does he run thru tackles? I've never seen him do it more than 1-2 an entire game.
- Does he have game breaking speed?
- Does he have moves/wiggle like Boom did?
- Does he do really good staff catching the ball out of the backfield?
- He's been available all year so far for first time in his career....but does anyone feel good with 18 carries a game over 12 game season?

I can live with him as back up RB but I want no part of him being feature back.

McClain broke more tackles in one run than smoke has in his career. Plus he has much better vision and wiggle.

Smoke is great if he just gets to run to a hole because he lacks vision. That's why he so often just runs right into a defender. Unfortunately a zone scheme needs vision especially an eye for cutback lanes. He just doesn't have it.

We lose 15 seniors and possibly a couple of juniors and the obvious attrition, so, I think we're going to hitting the portal hard this offseason.

I appreciate Smoke for being at UK but he's a 7-10 carry/game guy at most, could never be used like CRod/Snell...he just doesn't have the stamina/skill to be a featured back. I've been hoping to see more of McClain, glad he's contributing and expect to see more of him moving forward. Spring will be a very important time for Drennen, Davis and Wright.

5'9 180...you are not going to be a feature back in the sec at that size in a heavy run first offense.

I expect next year's offense to be build around Levis. Yes they will still run the ball a lot, but it will probably be coming from multiple Backs and not a featured back like Crod who can take 20-25 carries a game!

Looks like ESPN needs to update their measurements because he's way thicker than that. No matter the measurements, he broke more tackles in one run than smoke will in 4 years

Smoke is prolly a lesser version of AJ Rose and similar to Rose he’s a lot better than we make him out to be.

Rose ended one of the top all time rushers at UK. Even in limited carries, he often rushed for over 100 yards and was durable.

Need to pay a little more attention before you spew nonsense..

He has 1,100 yards and 10 TDs and is averaging 5.7 ypc. That's absolutely SEC quality. No he doesn't have Boom's explosiveness, but then again does any back currently in the SEC have that?

I also stated he's clearly not a #1 back because of his durability. He is however a very good backup.
What are these numbers you have put on here

I think Smoke is a great change of pace back, and I really wish UK would feature him in the passing game more. I think that is where he could be more special. Get him in space more so he can make people miss and use his speed. I think that if Levis could hit the swing pass then that would probably happen more, but Levis has struggled with that this year.

Yeah, Levis missed Smoke Sat on a swing. I think that role will eventually go to McClain.

Yahoo has an article about the transfer portal and 6 guys that would help Texas. It’s a good read and I wish we would get in on some of those guys. This is on the Yahoo home page.

He signed his LOI in May? What is the story with that?

Zack Evans had a wild recruitment. During his Sr season he was dismissed from his HS team for some reason we were never told. He wanted to come to UGA and Kirby gave him a list of expectations he had to meet. He some how was reinstated to his high school team, met the requirements Kirby put down and actually signed his first LOI to UGA on the last day for early signing period. The Texas state championship took place that weekend, his coach had a no cell phone rule on the bus/trip I can't remember which exactly. Anyway coach demanded the phone, ZE refused to turn it over, a loud verbal and near physical confrontation took place. Coach sent him home, UGA didn't submit his LOI which is like he never signed it. He looked at places including the vols and Gators with both fanbases thinking he was coming. Landed at TCU and hasn't had any issues I am aware of. Has done pretty well there both on and off the field. I think the farther away from home he gets is probably best for him. But he is NFL bound after the 22 season and a high reward type of guy with some risk in the equation.

But an outstanding talent, enough for UGA to pass on Tank Bigsby to sign.

Well except Crod is leaning toward coming back next year. He will have another 1000 plus yard season. Levis will also take another huge step and be one of the top QB's in the nation statistically next year with the added weapons we will have. We will have a very diverse offense.

The portal is open for business:

Purdue QB Jack Plummer has entered the portal according to
247. Plummer has thrown for 3,405 yards and 26 TDs with a 64.8 CMP% in his career. Luke Akers entered portal, punter from UCLA, whose dad played in Lex.
